Jessica's POV
'What's the matter,' A voice spoke behind me, causing me to startle. I turned around, only to see James.
'N..Nothing.' I answered, shrugging my shoulders. James looked at me, squinting his eyes in suspicion.
'I'm alright, I just wanted to get some fresh air.' I answered, and he politely smiled. James remained the thing I wanted to forget. He was the only guard that had treated me like a human, other than Carlos.
After the attack at the hospital, the first guard who escorted me from the palace to the chambers had been James. In a fitted cry and a broken moment, we hugged and he comforted me. He seemed like a genuinely wonderful person, but ever since then, I got the feeling that he'd frequently avoided me.
'Well don't let me stop you.' He grunted as he turned.
'James wait,' I walked towards him. 'Would you…maybe want to just sit and talk. I don't suppose you mind relaxing for a while.'
