Finley's POVI'm walking around downstairs and I pass by a lot of people, some of them are keeping their distance. I believe Alpha Jaxon told them not to approach me until I felt alright to be around so many people.My mind wanders to my sister. I haven't heard her scream yet and she was okay with that lady earlier.What's her name...I can't for the life of me remember her name. I'll make a mental note to ask Jaxon when I see him next which will probably be tomorrow."Excuse me""Yes. Can I help you?" A middle-aged woman calls back out to me"My sister. I'm just wondering if I can get a sandwich to take up to her please""Of course dear. Give me a minute and I'll bring it out to you"Once she's given me Esme's food I make my way back upstairs and head towards her room. She hasn't left her room all day so I can only assume that she's still sat in there. But when I open my door I'm not expecting what's in front of me.There, lying on the bed in the arms of her mate is my sister fast asleep."Wow. How did you do that?" I ask amazed at how settled and calm she looks."I told her I had work to do and how boring it was. She was fast asleep the next time I looked over so I think I know what I need to bring in her every time she needs someone"He's a good man. And I hope and pray to the mood goddess that she accepts him at some point in the future."Thank you, Alpha. You're a good man" I say while walking towards the door."Finley""Yes, alpha?"" I have some things to do in my office but I don't want to leave her." He tells me. He's genuinely concerned for her I will say."You don't need to say anymore. I'll sit in her room with her until she wakes up again. I got her a sandwich and a drink of juice so when she gets up she can eat"He thanks me and walks out of the room. My gut feeling tells me that he's going to be her lifeline someday. With her trust issues and fear of people especially men it's nice to see that she's got someone there for her. Even if it is another alpha male.3 hours have gone by and I'm waiting for Esme to wake up so she can have something to eat. I told myself I'll wait another half an hour and then I'll wake her up but I don't even finish that thought properly when I hear her voice on my ear but she's panicking and sweating as well."Please don't. I'm too tired for this now don't hurt me no more"I don't get it. She wasn't doing this earlier why is she all of a sudden?"Es it's me. Wake up okay"She's still whimpering in her sleep and I'm trying to wake her up while getting someone to get some anti-anxiety medication but no one's allowed in here.I decide to run out of her room and catch the first person I see. She looks like a maid, I can't tell. I tell her what I need and some cloths with cool water as she's sweating and panicking and she's quick to tell me that she will be back soon. I thank her and rush back to Esme so I can try waking her up...not before I bump into I believe his name is Charlie. Alpha Jaxon's beta and brother."I'm so sorry beta I wasn't looking where I was going," I say. I worried I might get punished for not looking at where I was going. But he doesn't do anything."Is everything okay you look like shit" he says. I chuckle the slightest bit and tell him about Esme at the moment and how she won't wake because she is having a nightmare which seems to feel like a reality to her, that I have tried to wake her up and she's sweating but also shaking and he tells me to go into her room and keep her calm and that he would get Alpha Jaxon in here asap.I run back inside and she's in the same spot I left her in but she's crying and screaming for me to make them stop."Please Finn make them stop. I'll be good I promise I will be good, it hurts" I can't do anything but keep trying but my heart is instantly hurting to hear those words. What did they do to her to make her like this?Alpha Jaxon rushes into the room just as she says this as well and I feel his anger. His aura makes me look down, makes me cower away because I have felt the burning end of an Alpha's aura as well as his power and it isn't pretty. It hurts and it sucks."You don't need to cower away from me Finley. I'm not mad at you okay"" I know Alpha I'm sorry"He rushed onto the bed and was quick to pull her into his arms. It's a working process as she's pushing and slapping him away but after 5 maybe 10 minutes of fighting him, she's calmed down a little. The maid I presume had brought the things I had asked for, he's currently sat next to her with his sleeves rolled up revealing both arms of tattoos while dabbing the cloth over her head."Alpha I'm sorry to have brought you away from work," I say without looking in his general direction.He's calm and is quick to remind me that I don't need to apologise anymore and that he would have been here in the next hour anyway."Finley I need to ask this. I have some of my staff going into the town tomorrow to get you and Esme some clothes and things that you would need. If it's possible would you go with them if you're up for it and pick yourself some clothes and new things""I can't alpha. I need to start work at some point so that I can go and do it. I don't want to sound ungrateful because I'm very truly grateful for you bringing me too but I can't accept your money""You'll start work when you have your strength, Finley. You need to eat more and take this time to come to terms with living here and being a part of this pack. You don't need to worry about money okay""Thank you so much Alpha" I'm genuinely grateful for this man."What about Esme?" She's too weak to go into town.""I'll have someone check her clothes for her size unless you know?""I believe she's a size 2" even that's a bit baggy on her because of the amount of times we haven't eaten."A 2? That's tiny! ""Alpha... even that's baggy on her. Only just though"He's clenching his fists and then I believe he is in the middle of linking someone. Not 5 minutes later a man and a woman approach the bed to share some things with Jaxon. And then I remember I saw this woman in here earlier and she helped Esme when she cut herself."How are you both settling in?" the man says directing his question to me. He holds a lot of power I'm presuming he is Alpha Jaxon's father. His stance alone makes me nervous."Finley you don't need to be scared. This is my father Jacob Hayes. He was the former Alpha of Midnight Pack""It's nice to meet you, sir. Thank you for all you've done for us I'm very grateful""You don't need to worry about that son. Just concentrate on yourself for now and then we will discuss you joining the fighting team and starting off to become a fighter. How's that sound?""It sounds good sir. Thank you""Please. Call me Jacob""I can't sir. I'm sorry" I genuinely wish I could but it's like this has been programmed into me."We will work on it then. Deal?""Yes sir," I said back.
