"Ummm, are you sure you'll be fine carrying that much stuff?" I look at Liza asking with a concerned expression while looking at the bag filled with stuff.
"No worries....I'll be fine." I said reassuringly as Liza didn't look convinced. I simply lift it up and place it on my shoulders. "See?"
"Okay...." Liza still looks unsure but she seems to accept it. We then start to leave the camp as Eric curiously stare at the bags.
"What did you exactly brought?" Eric asked.
"A lot of stuff.....daggers,...quivers of arrows,....bow, stakes, herbs,.....and some items...drop by monsters...." I said while shrugging. Eric looks in disbelief while Liza gapes at me.
"Why did you brought so many stuff?" Eric asked in confusion.
"My life always been....in danger...got to prepare...." I said sadly.
"Why?" Eric asked in confusion. "Sure, you might be more powerful than other Kobolds, but there are no reasons to hunt you."
".....adventurers saw my kinds...as an easy way to gain experiences....." I said, which surprises Eric and Liza.
"Experiences? You mean, the requirement to raises your level?" I was a bit surprise that there's a level system in this world.
"Levels?" I asked in confusion.
"O-oh, you mean the other kind of experiences....." Liza looks a bit sheepish. "Well, levels are the unique system provides by the Guilds to see your growth, either in your physical strength, magic, aura and so on."
"I see...." So, in other words, everyone has levels and the guilds help to displays it so everyone can see their current strengths. Of course, with this kind of systems, there's bound to be a dick measuring contest between high levels adventurers.
"So, what is your level....Liza?" I asked as Liza shakes her head.
"I didn't register. Celesterra Kingdom didn't have a guild...." Liza sweatdropped. "My father and the guildmaster aren't exactly in a good term for a long time, so...."
"Guilds were banned.....in Celesterra Kingdom...?" I asked while sweatdropped. That's an...interesting fact, I guess.
"Yeah...." Liza said with a sigh.
"I remember the guildmaster's visits few years ago and their fights....still fresh in my memories....." Eric mutters while looking pale. Just how bad was their relationships?
"I....see....." I was completely unsure how to react to that. It's not something I could react properly.
"I would like to compare how strong I am compare to average adventurers. And I would like to see Eric's and yours." Liza said. "Of course, it's for research purposes. Finding what we lack anf how to improve it."
"Does.....the registration requires...conditions?" I asked. I didn't join any guild due to speedrunning and the tons of side quests I require to fulfill just to continue the next story.
"From what I read on a book, you simply need to place a drop of blood on the registration machine." Liza said.
"Is....mana or aura required?" I asked hesitantly.
"I'm.....not sure...." Liza said while ponders. "You...want to register as well?" I simply nodded. "Well, maybe we will find out more once we reach our first destination!"
"I guess that would be our best plan. We lost our royal passage card when we got ambushed and we can't go to another kingdom or go pass other country's border without any identifications. Getting Guild cards are our best alternatives." Wait, you tell me the Guild Card also acts like passport?!
Is that why.....when I try to go to another kingdom or country, I always have that stupid mission where I got to knock every guards without killing!?! It's not an ambush, but they were trying to capture me for trespassing!?!?
If I know I could avoid such shit, I would've simply register myself on the guild without complaint!
"Umm, Darren, you okay?" I snaps out of my thought before looking at Liza and Eric.
"I-I'm fine.....just thinking...." I said while waving off their worries.
We all remain silent as we continue to walk on a normal pace. As we walk, nothing strange happens, other than few animals passed by.
"...how did an adventure could be this boring!?" Liza shouts in disbelief.
"Milady, I suggest you to refrain yourself from jinxing us." Eric said politely. "I would not want to deal with unknown enemies suddenly attacking us."
"S-sorry." Liza said meekly while blushing. "I can't help but thinking, adventure suppose to be filled with thrills and actions, like in the stories!"
"My apologies, milady. But..I think most adventure stories always never told the mundane journey the protagonists went through before facing the 'actions'." Liza looks like the world around her has just shattered.
"N-no way...you're telling me most adventures are filled with boring journeys!?" Liza asked, looking like someone had just bamboozled her.
"Well.....no one would like to read a boring journeys, so the writers will definitely refuses to write it down." Eric said while sweatdropping, making a face that obviously said 'It was so obvious'.
"N-noooo!!!!" Liza said in horror before walk in sulking manner. "My whole life is a lie!!"
....what in the world did I got myself into?
"W-well, how about...we each tell stories...about each other...to keep ourself from bored?" I suggest as Liza perked up and nodded.
"Of course! You're a genius, Darren!" Liza exclaimed excitedly. "Can I go first?!"
"Sure." I look at Eric.
"I have no right to refuses." Eric said in an obvious manner.
"Let me tell you about that day when Eric and I play in the castle's garden!" I saw Eric suddenly stiffens. It's obviously something embarrassing happens to him, especially when Eric suddenly covers Liza's mouth while smiling nervously, cold sweats fall from his forehead.
"Ahahaha.....how about you tell other stories, milady? I'm sure Sir Darren would be more interested about how you cast your first high tier spell-!?" This ends up causing Liza to covers Eric's mouth while glaring at him. Both starts to glare at each other, and I swear lightning sparks between their eyes.
.....what kind of Noodle Incident happens to both of them that cause them to react complete 180 towards each other?!
