We manage to find an inn without any problem or in our current cases, a bunch of crazy followers. Of all things I expect from this city, a parody of a certain comedy anime is not one of them.
I'm just glad that the innkeeper isn't as crazy as that one despite being one of them as well. But then again, from how he twitch his eyes, he restrains himself, waiting for a perfect moment to strike.
I made sure I open my ears wide to catch any signs of unwanted guests, as Liza lying on the bed and Eric simply sits down on the chair, letting out a tired sigh.
"I can't believe we immediately encounters them the moment we enters the town..." Eric said as Liza suddenly got up and points at him.
"Why didn't you told us about this!?" Liza exclaimed in disbelief.
"I did try to say it, but I'm pretty sure you said and I recite 'Sir Eric, didn't you told me to not trust anything until its proven?'." Eric said as Liza groan.
"You call it rumor, not information! You know how much a rumor could ruin someone especially when it's a false one!" Eric actually winced and look away.
"I....once encounter one of the followers entering the kingdom. I was at first think that maybe it wasn't that bad, but when I encounter the second and third one....." Eric said while looking pale. "They invite me to join them by going to this city.....and then the rumors..."
".....you never tell me about it..." Liza said.
"I..it's not something I want to talk about...." Eric said while letting out a single tear or despair, sulking at the seat. "I want to believe that not all of them are bad, so I simply ignore it.....but...."
"....yeah..." I can't help to sweatdrop at the current situation. "How about.....we talk about.....how we going.....to get our supplies?"
"Y-yeah! I think it's a good idea...." Liza said before realizing something. "Oh, no.....we forgot we don't have money, we only manage to pay for one night....."
"....." I saw Eric went to the corner and sulk. I sigh before opening my bag and pulls out every available items I can sold based on my game experience. Of course, I made sure to keep my silver tusk, unicorn's horn, Queen Wasp's Stinger, and Dragon core.
"Can these be..... sold to earn money....?" I asked as Liza and Eric stare at me before they burst out in tears.
----------------------------------------------------------
"180 coppers, 42 silver, and 4 golds...." Liza mutters as she counts the amount of money they earn. "This will be enough for now...'
"I can't help.....but wondering why.....humans exchanges valuables.....for useless rocks." It's a genuine question I always ask when I was a kid and now that I am a Kobold, the question popped out in my head again.
"Don't ask....a lot of human stuff still didn't make sense even for me." Liza stated with a sigh.
"And yet, you didn't question it and accepts it without questions." Eric points out.
"Sir Eric, there are things that remains unanswered." The moment she said that, we suddenly got crowded by a group of people.
"Hello, you must be travellers!"
"You all must be tired, why don't you all relax in our famous hotspring!?"
"It's blessed by our goddess, so it'll purify everything, even your soul!"
"Here are free tickets for you three!"
"If you want more of them, you can simply sign these papers!"
We all been bombarded by group of cult followers as they have no prior knowledge of personal space. I yelped as one of them grabs my arm and tail. Before I could go on a rampage, Eric pulls out his pendant, and the effect is immediate.
*Puih*
They all walk away grumpily while spitting on the ground. All we can do is to stand there in silence while I hold my tail in pain. Liza and I then look at Eric.
"Make sure everyone can see it!/Let everyone see....that pendant!" We both stated as Eric simply nodded. Congratulations, Eric, you're now our personal cult repellant!
----------------------------------------------------------
"Ah...." I sigh as I let my body soak in the hot spring after manages to buy every items we need. Utensils, camping gears, spices, maps, and so much more. Sadly, the town doesn't have blacksmith, but they do sell weapons imported from other kingdom, so Eric manages to buy a sword for 2 golds and I buy a substitute dagger for a measly 5 silver.
Yeah, the price sucks. I can even tell the sword's quality isn't as good as his and my dagger is subpar, but with the lurking danger, we don't have the luxury to be picky.
I sigh as I let the water hits my face. For a town full of cult followers, they sure do have a great hotspring. I can feel myself relaxed as the accumulated stress over the year surrounded by tons of dangerous monsters slowly washed away.
"I have to admit it...they at least have an amazing hot spring...." Eric mutters while lying his head on the side. He turns his head and look at me. "Sir Darren, where....did you get those scars?"
".....monsters.....got to defend myself.....everyday...." I mutter while closing my eyes blissfully.
"I see..." Eric mutters while looking upward. "Do you think the attackers follow us here?"
"I dunno.....maybe they're hide themselves.....I can't smell blood.....from anywhere though...." I said as Eric looks confused.
"Blood?" Eric asked.
"They must've killed.....a lot before.....blood always stuck....on their body...." I said while pointing at my nose. "It helps to....find them if they're.....hiding."
"....true. But, you can't rely on them everytime." Eric said as I nod.
"But, it's the.....only choice we have...." I said as Eric agreed. I then look at Eric and widen my eyes. "Eric.....what have you done....?"
"Huh?" Eric looks confused as I points at his neck. This idiot took off his pendant!!
And at that moment, tons of people emerges from the hot spring with a crazed gleam on their eyes.
"Welcome!!!"
Both of us could do nothing but scream at the top of our lungs.
