I'm so glad that we all manage to get out of the town without any trouble because I don't think any of us could handle staying inside that town any longer.
Liza looks like she was traumatized by having just learn how baby was born and got to see it in 4K. Eric looks like his veins was about to explode like a water balloon filled with too much water.
"Let's swear we never come back to the town unless an absolute emergency." Eric mutters with a gritted teeth. Liza and I could only nod in agreement, especially with all the crazy experiences we had to deal with them.
They're not bad, just....batshit insane. Yeah, they're insane, but at least the goddes they worship is lawfully good, unlike most deities ruled in this world. I think those followers are the reason why the goddess weren't well known and seen as a joke.
It's sad, but I can't blame them. I'll be skeptical to even get close to them because of their antics.
"At least we manage to get what we want." Liza mutters while looking at my bag. I turn and notices Liza is staring at the new bow I manage to snag for myself with only 5 silver. It's not the best bow, but with how terrible my quality, this is the best alternative for now.
"I still can't believe you carry that much weapons, Sir Darren." Eric stated.
"With how.....unpredictable the futures are,....it is necessary." I said while coughing, rubbing my sore throat. "That scream hurts.....my throat a lot...."
".....yeah, we're not going to visit that place ever again." Both of us nod in agreement while shuddering. You need to be a special kind of crazy to jumps on people trying to relax on bath and 'persuades' them to join their cult!
"I'm just glad that it's over....." Liza then slaps both of her cheeks. "Okay, let's stop talking about it! Now, where should we go next!?"
"Going to the Supreme Kingdom is an absolute no." Eric stated with no hesitation. "It's an enemy territory and we still have no idea who's exactly responsible behind the attack."
"Then, perhaps.....we might need.....to wait for a.....random bandit to attack.....us...." I mutter and both of them stare at me like I grew a second head. "Look, don't get me.....wrong, but we have.....no lead, no clue....all we have is....little to no.....information."
".....so you're saying we bait them and interrogate them again?" Eric asked. "Wait.....why didn't we ask the bandit from before about the location?"
"Did you forgot, Eric? You kill him after not getting information of who behind the bounty." Eric froze before looking down.
"It's my fault...." Eric mutter while he's sulking.
"Then again.....you were grieving.....I didn't stop you....because I don't think I can...." My attempts to reassure him only made it worse. Great job, Darren, your lack of social skills strikes again.
"Well, let's made sure our new plan works like a charm!" Liza said excitedly as I could only nod. I just hope the deities above didn't troll us by playing with the iconic anime cliche, the 'unspoken plan with 100% success rate' cliche.
I never understand what's with the writers or producers and their loves to abuse that plan. When they spoke loudly the plan so the audiences could know, it'll just fail. And when the plan discussion was cut and then follow up with the execution, it'll always work.
I mean, what's up with that? Sure, it made a cool and dramatic effects, and not to mention, less words, more actions increases the cool factor. But, why is it always successful is my question.
Yeah, I hope it didn't happen. It'll be sucks if it did.
Wait, why did I start thinking about anime tropes since my adventure with Liza and Eric?! This is not-!
...oh right, that 'noodle incident' moment, the 'accidental pervert'.....it's only happen twice but it's weird that it happens in the first place.
Let's just hope that it didn't happen again or else we're fucked, cuz anime cliches like those always ruins the situation too much.
"Is something wrong, Darren?" I snaps out of my mind before looking at Liza and shakes my head.
"Sorry....was thinking a lot...." I said while rubbing my head.
"What are you thinking about?" Eric asked.
"A lot....." I said while looking around. "I can't help but.....wondering, what if.....they want to do....more than killing Liza?"
"What do you mean?" Eric asked with narrowed eyes.
"It's just a feeling...." I said while waving my paws. It can't just wanting to kill her, a lot of antagonists complicates shit more than it should be. And given how the culprit puts a bounty on her head while not doing it alone, means they refuses to get their hands dirty. Not to mention, antagonists like them are greedy for powers.
....gah, thinking too much about it made my head hurt! I really hate conflicts between kingdoms, they overcomplicating shits!
"I doubt that, Sir Darren." Eric said. "Most nobles are simple, they prefer to 'get rid' of their competitors if possibles. And the easiest way to get rid of them is by removing their heir."
"That plan sounds.....terrible if they.....
have multiple children..." I point it out.
".....it includes the potential heir as well." Eric's words made my stomach twisted. All of those crazy shits just to one-up a kingdom in terms of power. I turn to see Liza, only to see that she was shaken.
"Hey...." I said, catching her attention. "You okay?"
"...I'll be honest, I'm a bit scared." Liza said while shakily smile. "It's pathetic, isn't it? I was suppose to be the future queen....."
"Being scared has.....nothing to do with.....being leader or not...it's a natural thing...I feel scared a lot....." I said, getting her attention. "But, don't let it....control you. Overcome it..."
"D-do you know how?" Liza asked as I rubs my head.
"Sorry, it's....something I can't teach...I got scared a lot...." And it was true, a hint of fear always crept out from the back of my head. I always try to suppress it by thinking a lot of things in my head, like a monologue. And I doubt that advice is good enough to help her.
"Oh...." Liza looks downcasted while gripping her staff.
"Sorry.....I'm not very good.....at something like this...." I admitted and it was true, I'm a guy with zero emotional experience.
"It's okay....I would act the same way if someone ask me that question." Liza sais while waving it off.
I could only hope she could find a way to do it, because I don't think either Eric or I could help her regarding her fear.
Being terrible in social interactions sucks.
