Guin began to talk about her experience using the shadow form and eavesdropping on the meeting discussions of the higher-ups. She also told Aileen she had pushed her limits to hear the Alpha King's dreadful final answer.
Aileen listened to Guin attentively without a word, but couldn't hide her surprise when she heard that the Alpha King decided to stop investigating the tragedy.
"Are you sure the Alpha King said that? Alpha Lionel?"
"I'm certain. Now I hate him ... I hate all werewolves and vampires!"
"Guin, I'm sure there's a reason why he made that decision. Not all werewolves or vampires are evil. If you say that, wouldn't I, a black magician, also be considered evil?" Aileen hurriedly added her last word when she saw that Guin was about to refute her.
"You're not evil! Don't ever say that!" Guin's attention was diverted by Aileen's last remark―reducing her anger. "Okay, I won't speak ill of them in front of you. Now it's your turn. Tell me how you became a black magician and didn't get caught."
"It's a very long story. I don't know if you can keep up."
"Try me."
The sisters stayed in the house with Aileen telling Guin about her childhood stories. Guin no longer thought about her despair regarding the Alpha King's unfair decision ... for now.
At 09.00, Guin was ready to wear a white jacket and a sling bag containing a notebook to record important data that she found in her work.
"Where are you going?" Aileen was confused by Guin's neat but casual clothes. "Don't tell me... are you going to work?"
"I work in a library, and there are no days off for part-time librarians."
"I remember it's not your shift turn now. Plus, you're still recovering."
"I'll be fine. I promise I won't use magic. Besides, all the races, including the journalists, came to the Werewolf Realm. I'm sure there will be a lot of new info in the library."
"You still haven't given up?" Aileen couldn't help but worry about her sister, especially after witnessing for herself how ruthlessly the Alpha King charged foreign intruders―Aileen couldn't imagine what Guin's fate would be like if she became Lionel's enemy.
No one knew that the higher-ups had been investigating the massacre that had occurred on Fox Island for dozens of years. The investigation was carried out in secret and has now been stopped, which means that the Alpha didn't want anyone to know about what happened on Fox Island. If Guin insisted on investigating alone without any clues, Aileen was worried that something terrible would happen to Guin someday.
"How could I possibly give up?" Guin said with droopy eyes as if she would no longer have a purpose in life if she stopped her investigation.
"My mother told me that a reddish-gold-eyed vampire with spatial magic was an evil man. She repeated it twice so I wouldn't forget."
"What if she wished for you to avoid him if you ever met him."
"No. I'm sure she wished for me to find him and take revenge. If I don't do it, I feel like I'm not a filial child."
"But―"
"Aileen, I know you mean well. But I can't stop now. Sorry," added Guin as she left the house and went to work, leaving Aileen sighing in resignation. Aileen could only pray and hope for the best for her sister.
While Guin worked, Aileen filled her free time by cleaning the house and reading books. After cleaning up and reading several books on magic control, Aileen decided to look at the latest news on plasma crystals. A 25-foot crystal plasma monitor with a rectangular shape, transparent blue with a series of blue lines, appeared as if Aileen saw a hologram there.
"Today's latest news. The official regulations regarding deformed vampires have been patented and spread among the twelve realms. The regulations of the higher-ups are as follows:
First, humans no longer get permission to become vampire mates.
Second, pure-blooded vampires are prohibited from biting or drinking human blood in any form.
Third, all deformed vampires must be exterminated by destroying the heart and burning the body.
And finally, please be aware of the new type of vampire called mutant vampire. The victim will immediately become a deformed vampire when injured by claws or bites. Please report to the authorities immediately if you find any suspicious person."
Aileen's heart sank when she heard the news, especially rule number three. She and Guin had a classmate who was recently bitten by a pure-blooded vampire and transformed. Sadly, the transformation failed, and she became a deformed vampire. Only time will let their classmate lose consciousness and become frenzy vampires.
Initially, the Alpha King assembled deformed vampires, watched them, and promised to find a way to prevent these vampires from becoming frenzy vampires. For the families of the victims, this promise was a source of hope, but for the victims themselves, they felt like prisoners awaiting execution.
This one-sided and heartless rule had killed her friend along with other deformed vampires. A feeling of bitterness mixed with disappointment filled Aileen's heart.
She had thought that Lionel was a different ruler from others—a person who showed compassion and gave opportunities to deformed vampires. At least, that was the impression she got when the Alpha King approached her for a conversation. Alas...
Aileen didn't know how to get rid of the discomfort that was attacking her heart at the moment and decided to look for Guin.
Arriving at the Oracle library, Aileen immediately looked for her sister in the information collection section.
The Oracle Library was not the largest in Unbound Havens, but it was the largest in this Southern district. Even though this place did not have crucial secrets held by the higher-ups, it at least offered the most complete knowledge and news—even before the news was spread through plasma that spread throughout the world.
"Guin, have you heard?" Aileen's thundering call shocked Guin, who was busy sharing the new data that had been entered this morning into the computer.
"You startled me! Are you talking about that deformed vampire? I already knew that. That was my first assignment as soon as I got here." Guin was more curious about the mutated vampires because this was the first time the higher-ups had leaked this information.
After Guin looked at the files on the plasma, it was discovered that mutated vampires had appeared since last year, and this information was kept secret so as not to panic all the races. Now, the higher-ups have decided to leak this confidential fact, so that humans would be more wary of the presence of vampires.
Even though vampires were blood-sucking creatures, their beautiful faces and charm were irresistible. Moreover, if a vampire laid his eyes on someone and wanted to claim her, no girl could escape his charm.
Guin also only learned that mutated vampires would be the strongest undead compared to other undead, and only the Sun God's heir would be able to destroy these mutated vampires. This made her wonder if perhaps the red-haired young man was the Sun God's heir in question.
"Then... Sephania... she..." Aileen didn't dare listen to the answer but couldn't take her eyes off her sister's mouth, which was about to answer.
