The temperature in the cafe returned to normal as quickly as the chilliness came. Guin didn't expect that someone would be able to break the spell and restrain her magic at once. She couldn't feel her muscles as if she had become paralyzed—she couldn't breathe as if someone had covered her nose and mouth.
Just when Guin almost felt herself fall, a small energy fluctuation arose, and breaking the spell was restricting her.
"You are overdoing it," sounded Jerome flatly to his younger brother.
When Guin entered this cafe, she couldn't see the twins sitting opposite Aileen because their backs were facing her. She didn't realize both were the Alphas and only could see they were cornering her dear sister—intimidating Aileen until the girl broke out in cold sweat and her face turned pale. It explained why Guin used her magic powers to intimidate two unidentified men—telling them that no one could bully Aileen and get out easily.
As soon as one of them spoke, Guin realized they were the twin Alpha—Lionel and Jerome.
Guin walked closer to her sister to confirm that the two men were who she thought they were. "Aileen, are you okay?" Guin immediately sat next to Aileen without greeting the two men opposite her.
"The southern district is indeed where witches live, but that doesn't mean you can use your powers to attack someone for no reason," Lionel reprimanded Guin—his eyes couldn't move from the girl as if he wanted to appraise an antique.
"Who told you to pressure my sister? You changed your hair color, so I don't recognize you," Guin protested, blaming the change in Lionel's hair color, which was now black like his brother.
When Guin glanced at the twins, she realized that both men were like a splitting image—the only difference was their eyes.
"Besides, what is the honorable Alpha King doing in the southern district? I never knew werewolves also have jurisdiction of this district."
Each district has its superintendent of various races. Werewolf holds the eastern district. Meanwhile, knights and elves held the western and northern districts, and half-blood vampires held the southern district. Even so, Lionel would send several elite werewolf clans to patrol all four districts and only the southern district he bypassed. Even though the werewolf and vampire clans were truce, the werewolves often clashed with the vampires. Hence, Lionel no longer sent his clan to patrol the southern district.
"No, we just came to visit." That's the reason why Lionel changed his hair color. If the locals saw a person with white hair, they would immediately recognize Alpha King.
"Aileen, let's go." Guin was not interested in continuing the conversation with the Alpha, especially the indifferent, yet irresistibly handsome Alpha Jerome.
"Wait a minute. Why do I feel like you don't like me? Did I offend you?" Lionel still wanted to talk to Aileen longer. He wouldn't let Guin take the girl right away.
"Why am I kind to people who like to oppress the weak?" replied Guin in a sarcasm tone.
"I what... I'm sorry, but who oppresses who?" Lionel began to feel irritated by Guin's impolite attitude. But when he talked to Aileen, his mood turned upside down. "Aileen, am I bullying you?"
Aileen jumped in surprise when Lionel asked her. Lionel didn't bully her, but ...
Aileen glanced at Jerome, who didn't seem to care about this awkward and tense situation. "Guin, stop it. After all, he is the Alpha King," whispered Aileen, trying to soothe Guin's anger.
"I'm glad you recognize him, and if you recall, he is the cause of Sepha's death. Or did you forget it?" scolded Guin in a sarcastic tone.
"Wait a minute." Lionel felt it was unfair to be accused by Guin without evidence. Besides, who is Sepha? He never heard a name. "Don't just accuse me. I don't even know that guy."
"Sepha is a charming, remarkable young lady," replied Guin in restrained anger. "You gave the order to exterminate all the deformed vampires. Isn't that true?"
"Yes, then what is the relation with this young lady?"
"Then did you know that among the deformed vampires, one person... miraculously managed to recover and return as a human?"
Lionel frowned at the information. "I think I did hear—"
"And you still killed her!!" accused Guin, without giving the Alpha King to finish his words. "Get out of this district. We don't accept cruel-hearted people like you." Guin grabbed Aileen's hand and left, leaving Lionel stunned.
"Good heaven!! What is she? Does she even have ears? Why won't she let me talk?" For Lionel, who liked to talk a lot and was good at directing discussions—this was the first time he had run out of words. "The human girl she talked about earlier, could it be that same human girl?"
"Her name is Sephania... If I remember correctly."
"Why did you keep quiet? Now they both misunderstand us." Lionel scolded while making a sullen face like a child.
"There's no rush. They're heading to the human girl's house. Soon they'll find out the truth."
"How do you know?"
Jerome answered his brother's question by tapping the table twice with his index finger. The next second, a red-eyed spider—the one that had followed Guin from the library—appeared and walked towards Jerome's hand. Miraculously, this spider melted into black ink and entered the skin of Jerome's palm, indicating that this spider belonged to the hybrid Alpha.
"I can't believe it. You're stalking her? Since when?" Lionel's eyes widened as he didn't expect his brother to be more possessive and bold than him. Unfortunately, Jerome refused to answer his brother's questions and decided to return to the Werewolf Realm.
