After the day I met Merilyn, today was the day we went on a hunt. It was Janis, me, and six other groups outside the village. With thirty people, this should be enough to deal with those slimes. The chief, Merilyn, didn't come and resumed her village work-related things.
With a few days of magic practice, I was much more proficient in drawing out my mana than the first day. While it was still slow and could hinder the people in this group, I was confident I could be helpful in some ways.
For the first time, I saw other adventures besides Janis, who claims to be an adventurer, and they were much different from the people of this village.
Their clothes were different from the rags you see. Weapons and armor were added, and their demeanor set the difference. Being the only male and wearing clothes that didn't fit the occasion made me the most prominent attraction.
"Everyone! Before we leave, does anyone have what they need?" Janis, who led the group, asked everyone, and seeing that no one had answered, she continued.
"In this quest, we're to eliminate a group of evolved slimes. These slimes are dangerous because they're monsters without a core. Their strength comes from fast regeneration and their power to extend their bodies at an unreasonable pace. If you can't figure out a way to defeat them, then your best chances are to seal them immediately." After she told us what we needed, we started to head out.
"Wait, are you going in that outfit?" Before we left, one of the adventurers stopped me. It was a woman from a different race from the people of this village, a beastman from a bison or buffalo variant.
I could see where this problem lay, and honestly, I felt that if I had answered wrongly, this problem could escalate.
"She is my assistant. She would be using magic as support. There's no need to worry about her safety." Janis came in before anything had happened. Despite her perverse act and sometimes looking unreliable, she comes in and becomes exceptionally reliable at the right time.
Seeing there was no need to act out of hand, the adventure just left it at that. Now that all the distractions were out, we went to the village's east side, where the slimes are most active.
This trip could take a few hours to weeks. We couldn't locate them accurately unless the slime were actively causing trouble.
"Janis, are we going to the place where you saved me? It's the last place where they were seen." That was the first place we should go if we wanted a lead. I also wanted to give her a lead in case she forgets.
"That's old news. Yesterday, we received a report about environmental damage in a different part of the forest before you returned. The distance between the place mentioned in the report and where I found you is quite far. The damages done were the exact kind of damages done when the monsters that had captured you." Janis replied, sure of what she was doing. Since that was the case, I did not need to offer any advice.
"The six leaders of your respective group. Why don't we talk as I lead the way?" Janis took the lead and gathered the six leaders of the adventure group.
"Do you have more information about our task?" One of the adventure leaders had come up and asked.
Compared to the rest of the adventures, this one was different from the rest. It was someone more quirky if that's what you want to call it. Dressed in a magician's robe and a witch hat, you could tell that she fights with only magic. What was most appealing were her long legs sticking out of her robe. I would have thought she did this intentionally if it weren't only a female world. Her extremely pale skin, white hair, and purple eyes were breathtaking.
The next would be a human. The girl I had explained might be human, but I felt that she was not one in the first place. Compared to the one with the witch outfit, this one was ordinary.
She had brown hair in the style of a ponytail and hazel-colored eyes. The only thing that stood out was her muscles.
Among the others who stood out was a dark elf. Like the witch earlier, she had white hair but red eyes that could pierce the soul. Her cold demeanor was enough to tell you she was a lone wolf. And to prove that she was the only solo adventurer.
The other three seemed to be all elves since this place was the homeland for elves. It was natural for them to be similar.
"Our destination at the location is a few hours away. Learning more about your colleagues always helps in terms of strategy. What we're fighting is an unusual anomaly. The slime we will fight should be at least on the third rank regarding brute strength. If not for that fact, these monsters could regenerate and be grouped. We would have already eliminated them. It's estimated that there are three of these slimes. There's a blue, red, and pink version."
"Janis, do you know that each slime has a special property on its body?" I had experienced this effect firsthand. Janis might not know since she has never felt it, but I bet even Janis would find it troublesome if faced with those effects.
"The red slime can induce paralysis, and the pink slime could do the same for lust. While the blue slime could do something, I haven't felt anything strange from being in contact with it." This new information had startled Janis and the rest, and from Janis' expression, she seemed to remember that I was in a state of paralysis when she carried me back to her village.
"This changes things..." Janis muttered, troubled by this fact along with some other captain of this crew.
