Chapter 24 - Target Locked

"Janis, could I see the scroll? I haven't gotten a good look at it since I was excited that we sealed the monster." Janis, let it out and let me have a look.

The scroll had a portrait of the slime. Having it to be sealed, the scroll captured the expression of the slime and body during the final sealing process. With its inflated body adding to its expression, it was hard to take the slime seriously. Thinking back, it was silly that I delved too much into this. When I finished the scroll, I quickly closed it and returned it to Janis, not wanting to see it anymore.

"This is going to take a while, isn't it?" When we returned to the camp, it was already night, and surprisingly, like us, a group had already returned.

"You two finished early. How was your fight?" Seeing that the others had finished, I approached them and asked the two dark elves how their fights were.

"It was tough." The two looked at us and were unsure of what to say. I felt that these two were unsociable, but not to this degree.

"Then, are you two planning to stay here for the night? Janis and I are. We need to rest before we can assist the others." There was no harm in telling them, as they had no motive to harm us.

One of them nodded as their idea aligned with ours. Finding that the dark elves didn't want me to interfere with them, I returned to Janis, who was setting up camp.

"Could you really call this a tent?" Janis's things are wild. Even if I knew Janis was rich, it still impressed me how the tent she had set up was close to a full-blown house.

Although it appeared to be a tent, the size of this thing was almost the same as Janis' house in the village. If you could live in this shelter daily just from traveling, I bet there would be people willing to travel worldwide with a tool like this.

"Janis, as cool as this is, is this safe? What would happen if some wild monsters approached this tent and attacked?" The positive thoughts disappeared when I saw the problems that could occur.

"Roy, you worry too much. Before going to sleep, I would use a monster repellant. And if that doesn't work, this tent has a self-defense mechanism. To save us from harm, the self-defense mechanism would create a barrier so that even monsters on the sixth tier would have difficulty breaking." Janis reassured me nothing would go wrong and explained what this tent could do.

Since every word Janis spoke was the truth, I was inclined to believe what she said, and I left it at that.

"Janis now is not the time." With the tent sheltering from almost anything and it being late at night, I felt my body dragged to the bed as Janis took me.

"???" Janis looked confused, which was concerning if she couldn't notice the problem.

"I'm not doing it when the dark elves are next to us." Our actions may not be obvious, but being questioned about our activities was still embarrassing in their own right. Janis may not feel it, but I'm someone who will.

During my stay in the village, I learned a lot about the elves. The dark elves, being their counterpart, have many similarities. Extraordinary hearing was one of them. With them being nearby, I didn't want anyone to hear us doing it.

"This tent is soundproofed." Finding my concern unnecessary, Janis did what she loved best during the night. I just hope this won't hinder us from tomorrow's work.

[Third-Person POV]

"What a shame, a few of my creations were destroyed." Despite her creation's defeat, she didn't seem bothered about it. In fact, it seemed like she had expected this to happen.

The creation of the immortal slimes was an experiment she had done to achieve her goal. Having to finish her experiment successfully, dissatisfaction could be seen all over her face.

"The compatibility between slime and flesh creatures is close to zero. Unless I could forcefully merge the two beings, then this experiment was useless from the start." Frustrated that this was a waste of time, she sighed and checked on the footage of the defeated slimes.

"How is this possible?" Watching a few of the slimes, one battle caught her eye. With a device smaller than the naked eye could see, the researcher had a device to check the mana signature of anything near it.

A person with the same mana signature was impossible. This was like sharing the same body with a being or having the same soul. Even for twins with the same magic element, at most, 99% would be the same, which is why it was surprising to share the same mana signature.

Thinking about it, an idea started to emerge. The researcher's eyes heated, and the motivation she had returned.

"These two... I need to capture them." An interesting idea came to mind when doing research like this.

[Roy's POV]

After the long night, the sun had set, and I indulged in Janis' chest. As I had expected, Janis had overdone it, and with barely any sleep, I wondered if I could perform to the best of my capabilities.

"Soft." Escaping was impossible, with my face stuffed in between and Janis hugging me like a bear. It is not like I wanted to escape in the first place, but this feeling of being spoiled was too addictive. Slowly, I could tell my thoughts were degenerating, and staying like this was fine.

Seeing that Janis was still asleep, it was peaceful. A mischievous smile could be seen on my face, and all those times when Janis had it her way, it was my turn to have it my way.

"If I ain't going to sleep, you're not going to sleep either..." Aggressively sucking on her breast, Janis moaned loudly, waking up.

"Good morning my love!"
