Chapter 14 - Let's Begin

Without uttering a single word, Red swiftly reached for the paper that had been thrown at him. He crumpled it in his hand, his gaze never leaving Hubert.

The room's atmosphere became filled with anticipation, as the other players could feel the weight of Hubert's words and Red's solemn reaction.

Hubert, realizing the gravity of the situation, stood his ground with a defiant smirk. His attempt to anger and embarrass Red was doing well.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's settle this like a real player," Hubert uttered. The cockiness in his voice was evident.

'Let's see if this guy could still act like that when I embarrass him in front of my teammates. How can he say that to me when I belong to a professional team while he's just a mere worker?' Hubert thought.

Red blankly stared at Hubert. He looked at him as if he was of no interest.

"Let's do that, since it seemed like you wouldn't be able to sleep if you didn't play with me." Red shrugged his shoulders.

Despite his calm temperance in the game and in real life, there's a history of him that only a few might know.

Red, when he was just starting in the game, was a wild and hard trash talker, especially if he was not playing with his brother.

That characteristic of his just changed when he joined the professional scene. It was also the reason why he can be calm and collected when playing.

'This is not even half worse than what I encountered back then,' Red sighed.

He was already used to hearing hard and unpleasant words, to the point that a hate comment looked like normal words to him.

Hubert glared back at Red.

'Is this guy normal?' He was shocked by Red's collected answer.

However, Hubert shortly calmed and assured himself down.

'This guy must be so scared right now that he's pretending to be fine. Let's see if he can still raise his head when I defeat him.'

Hubert glanced at his teammates. He told Yuki to move aside and log out of his account from the computer.

Sitting down with a smug look, Hubert calmly put his hand on the mouse pad. "You can log in to your account on Yuki's computer."

Red's eyes flew at Yuki. He noticed how Yuki avoided him as he went near his table. It seemed like Yuki was ashamed of what he had said earlier that he refused to face him.

On the circular table, Yuki's computer was in front of Hubert. That means Red and Hubert won't be able to see each other's screen in the game.

As Red sat on Yuki's precious chair, the rest of Mystic Ravens' players went behind Hubert. They were afraid that they would receive a punishment from their captain if they supported Red, who was on the other side.

Only Ken remained behind Red.

Red after making himself comfortable in the chair, put the headset on his head and typed in his details in the login information.

He waited for a code to be sent on his phone. It was a 2-factor authentication code. Dawn of Rise implemented it for everyone so that every player's account would be more secure.

When Red logged in to his account, he went to his button and updated his skills settings.

Since Hubert was determined to have a good duel with him, he might as well give him what he desperately wanted.

Red's lips curved upwards. He replaced all of his high-leveled with a medium or basic one.

Red will defeat Hubert fairly.

He wouldn't waste his high-level skills for someone like Hubert. That's just a waste of effort.

"What's your IGN?"

Red ignored Hubert's question. Since Hubert invited him to this game, he'll make him do all the work.

When a minute of silence passed, Hubert didn't get any answer.

Hubert eyed Red irritatedly. 'This guy is such an eyesore.'

He knew that Red heard him.

"Hey!" Hubert tried getting Red's attention. However, Red remained silent and acted as if he wasn't hearing anything.

"This b*tch," Hubert's jaw clenched.

Hubert eyed Yuki. With an annoyed tone in his voice, he said, "Look at his IGN."

Yuki nodded and did as he was asked.

Yuki walked to the other side to look at Red's screen. His eyes widened at what he saw.

'How can he become so calm when he's just a Grandmaster?' he thought as he caught a glimpse of Red's account.

'But his name sounds familiar…" Yuki thought. He tried thinking about where he saw the name but he couldn't remember it exactly.

'I must have seen him in the lobby of InterDawn or something,' Yuki sighed. When he memorized Red's name, he immediately returned to Hubert, who looked impatient now.

"His IGN is RedBaoFan." Yuki answered.

Hubert scoffed after hearing the name. "What kind of name is that?" he mockingly laughed.

Hubert typed in the word at the bar and sent a friend request to Red.

'I can't believe I'm the one adding this lowly worker.'

When Red saw a notification flashing on the upper right side of his screen, he clicked on it and saw the friend request.

Red accepted it with a subtle smile on his face. He then waited for the invite.

Hubert tried his best not to laugh when he saw Red's rank information.

'This dumbsh*t do not know what he's getting into,' Hubert tilted his head to the side as he fought the urge not to laugh.

Red silently chuckled when he saw how Hubert reacted as he looked at his rank.

"Are you really sure about this?" Hubert mockingly asked.

Red just shrugged his shoulders as an answer.

'Pft,' Hubert sent an invitation to Red for a duel. He couldn't believe that such a person would be able to fight him at all.

When Red accepted it, they were teleported to the Duel's lobby.

Red and Hubert's adventurer stood side-by-side on the screen.

Hubert, as the creator of the lobby, disabled the backup function so that it would be fair. Even though he acted rudely and all, he still knew that it was just right to keep the integrity of the game.

Especially since his teammates were watching him.

Hubert also changed the game mode's settings. He adjusted it so that the game would end after one death and announce the winner.

Hubert grinned. This would be a fast and quick win for him.

Just like Red earlier, Hubert also adjusted his skills' setting. They were only allowed to have 5 skills on the battlefield.

After choosing, the monitor of their computers turned black.

A red fire then appeared in the middle. As the fire spread from the middle to the side, its color changed to light blue. A light then appeared in the middle of it, creating words that were already familiar to all players.
