Hubert looked at Red with a confused expression on his face. His eyes immediately gazed at his computer's screen.
"What…?"
Hubert's breathing hitched as his eyes widened. Hubert became confused as he saw the word "Defeat" on his computer's screen.
'Impossible…'
Hubert could remember how his dagger pierced through Red's character. He clearly saw the "Critical Hit" in big red letters and blood splashing out on his screen before the game ended.
He surely had one-hit killed Red.
Red shrugged his shoulders as if unaware of what had happened. He left the lobby and logged out of his account.
"It was nice playing with you."
Red's lips curved up in a smile. He wanted to laugh at their reaction. Surely, by now, they still didn't know what happened.
Even Ken, who was watching behind Red, didn't know what happened.
All they knew was that everything happened so fast. They thought Hubert had won the round.
"It was such a nice game, Hubert." Red added to the fire.
Hubert remained silent. He just stared at Red with a shocked expression on his face.
Red then faced Ken, who was still standing behind his chair. "Thanks for supporting me, Coach."
Red appreciated Ken's effort in making it seem that he had a supporter in this room.
He stood up and faced everyone after making sure that his account was already logged out.
"I'll get going now then," Red stated in a relaxed manner.
Red waved his hands before exiting, leaving all the people inside the room speechless. The players of Mystic Ravens couldn't believe what they just witnessed.
The players fell into an uneasy silence. The aftermath of the unexpected turn of events just started sinking in.
Hubert's expression was a mixture of disbelief and frustration as he continued to stare at his computer screen, where the word "Defeat" remained glaringly obvious.
The other members of Mystic Ravens exchanged puzzled glances, whispering among themselves in an attempt to make sense of the situation.
However, they still couldn't make a sense out of it.
Ken scratched his head in confusion. It was his first time encountering such a scene in his whole career of being a coach.
"How did he...?" they could only whisper at the back as none dared to speak loudly.
Hubert, unable to contain his frustration any longer, slammed his fist on the table. "This doesn't make sense! I attacked him! I saw it! A critical hit!"
"Calm down, Hubert," Yuki uttered in a low voice.
Albert, another player on the team, finally broke the silence. He scratched the back of his head. " Did he cheat or something?" he voiced out.
That was what the others were thinking, too, but it seemed impossible since Red was using their computer.
Hubert, still fuming mad, shook his head. "No, it couldn't be. He didn't cheat. I... I don't understand."
Hubert regrettably sat on the chair. His muscles weakened.
'F*ck,' Hubert frustratedly placed his hands on his face, covering it.
He remembered all the things that he said earlier. He sounded as if he was boasting about nothing.
Hubert couldn't accept it.
"Maybe there's some error? How about we watch the game's replay?" Ken uttered after staying quiet for so long.
When Hubert heard it, he looked up and stared at his teammates.
Hubert's eyes gazed back at his computer screen. Determination flickered in his eyes.
He thought that maybe it was just an error in the game.
'That's right. I need to see what happened.'
Hubert left the lobby of the match. He immediately went into his account's history and replayed the game that happened.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a function where they could go to a certain time in the replay.
Hubert had to watch it from the very start.
The duel went on for 8 mins. It took a long time since, at the start, Red just kept on defending. It wasn't until the latter part of the game, where Red initiated an attack.
The rest of the team and Ken, also sat beside Hubert. They watched the game all together to find out what truly happened.
"Huh? Aren't those just normal skills?" Cameron squinted his eyes and leaned forward. His voice which was hinted with disbelief, suddenly sounded.
With what Cameron pointed out, the players also looked at the bottom left, where Red's skills were displayed.
Their jaws fell to the ground after seeing and confirming what Cameron said.
"That means he defeated Hubert with skills that average players always use?" Albert uttered in disbelief.
It was different than Hubert, who used skills that he specialized.
Albert almost wanted to laugh at that information.
Their leader's skills sounded like a big joke right now.
The players looked at each other. The guy who just left the room, just defeated Hubert without using any high-leveled skills.
Red didn't even use any special skills except a mid-level one that caused a big deduction in Hubert's health points in the middle of the game.
As the video drew near its climax, the players became silent. Their gaze was fixed on the screen, watching it with seriousness.
Just like what happened earlier, they saw that Red and Hubert both launched an attack towards one other.
They watched as Red successfully defended Hubert's attack, and how the two players took a second of rest to adjust their character's position.
As the video progressed more, they saw how Hubert, after seconds, dashed in forward. It was what they thought the final attack.
Hubert shifted the view of the camera to the side to look at the scene better. He also lessened the speed of the video to 0.5.
"..."
Silence fell on everyone as they saw the last few seconds of the game.
On the screen, Hubert's dagger clearly pierced through the stomach of Red's character.
However, the critical hit didn't come from Hubert's attack. It was from Red's stave that pierced through Hubert's stomach.
As Hubert dashed towards Red, face to face, Red was able to switch his weapon in just a blink of an eye.
Red's stave, which originally had a circular round end, changed into a pointy and spikey one at a crucial moment of Hubert's attack.
Red knew that at that moment, Hubert's attention was solely focused on him and not his weapon.
As Hubert arrived in front of Red, he swayed his dagger to the side, attacking Red.
However, what they didn't notice earlier was that before Hubert could even strike his dagger at Red, Red was able to bury his weapon's pointy end in Hubert's stomach.
The result was just a split second of difference.
'Who is this monster?'
That was the question that appeared on the players' minds.
The scene that they had witnessed now was truly an impeccable sight to see. They knew that it was something that only an experienced player could do.
