She was crying profusely, like a little baby. What was surprising was the fact that the lady was just at the perfect spot, away from the view.
The dustbin was in a low area with a tall wall blocking the view so one could only see when they stayed directly in front of the jewelry store.
"Miss please don't do this to yourself!" She blurted out as she got close to the lady.
Now as soon as the lady knew she wasn't alone again, she pointed the gun forward before Amber could get to her.
Amber's eyes widened in shock. A gun was pointed to her! Where could she run to?? What has she gotten herself into!
Immediately, she threw her hands up and surrendered. "Please. Please, don't shoot me!"
Trying to make her voice a little bit louder was hopeless. There was noise everywhere but no one paid attention to them!
Taking a closer look at the lady, she looked at least a few years younger than her. Her eyes were green with blonde hair and full lips. Her skin was lighter than Amber's, also very healthy.
Why would such a goddess like that try to take her own life!
"Stay back! Are you stupid? You see me with a gun, and you come running straight towards death?" The lady asked. Her voice was shaky and unstable.
"I--I know. But I don't think you should do this." Amber managed to say and was surprised she could still make words form in her mouth.
The lady chuckled, the gun still raised up. "If you've been through my pains, you wouldn't say that."
Amber's chest was beating so fast now she feared her heart would rip out of her chest. But with steady breaths, she managed to control her fear.
"I dunno what you've been through. You're right. But, if you know what I've been through, you wouldn't try to kill yourself. Can you imagine being married to a good family but unable to conceive?" Amber said.
"Everyday I wish that I could end it. I," remembering what happened earlier, her cheeks were suddenly warm as she recalled the way she'd been hit.
"It's not the first time, but it's everyday of my pathetic life! I'm being abused because I'm considered to be a barren. I've tried it before, when all I wished for everyday was to just die."
The lady was still sobbing, but fortunately for Amber, she was listening.
"There are bad people in this world. Terrible people, and I won't die first. I don't deserve to die, lady. Because I have a good heart. Instead, I'll help people. I started writing fictional books, romance books. About the live I wish I had, to help others too."
"Are you not a good person?" She asked the lady.
The lady blinked back a tear. She sniffed, looking so terrified. "B-but danger comes. Danger is coming and it kills."
"But you're not danger. You're not a killer. Please put the gun down...please!"Amber pleaded.
It seemed like ten years when it was only several seconds, but the lady threw the gun away. Amber walked closer and gave her a hug. She didn't reject it.
"I'm so scared right now, I need to be with my big brother." The lady said, fidgeting. She brought out a card and handed it over to Amber. "Here's my number. Please call me by the end of today."
She turned and was leaving.
"You shouldn't...I mean, the gun..." Amber hinted but the lady only smiled.
"It's for bad people, not me." the lady said. "Call me okay? I'm a psycho actually, if you don't call me, I'll find you. I promise you." With a frightening smile that sent shivers down Amber's spines, she hurried off.
Amber was still taken aback by the whole scene. She just saved someone attempting suicide! She was a superhero!
"Okay, captain Amber, let's go get the jewelry. Now, where's the money--"
It wasn't in her purse. Where was her purse anyway!
She turned around quickly searching everywhere it could be. Memories come flooding back her head now as she remembered taking off the cross purse and putting it on the ground so she could be approach the stranger easily.
And the only person she'd seen was...that chubby dude with big stomach!
She rushed into the jewelry store but saw that it was closed. After attempts of breaking the door, she realised it was helpless of her.
Trickles of sweats were like bead now on her head. Her legs would not move as she wished.
Where would she search? Who would she call...call, her phone!
She rushed into the crowded area and begged for phone but everyone saw her like she was crazy.
Maybe because she acted like one!
"Please ma'am, it will only be one second for fuck sake!"
"Get out of my sight, you lunatic!" The lady roared at her.
Amber asked several others but the response was the same. What was she going to do!
By the very left side was a hall filled with strangely only one man on a call.
"He seems nice." she found herself muttering to herself and she jumped forward. "Sir, please give me your phone!"
