There should be an explanation for all of these, but right now, I needed rest as I was tired mentally and physically. It's been a long day after all and I would like to have a proper rest and a meal.
I enter the tavern right away and order some food and ale. Then I proceed to the free space table and sit there.
As soon as I entered, I received weird looks from the other visitors. Probably because they were shocked about me being alive as the news of the soldier that was with the hero's party was all supposedly dead in the dungeon.
Some whispers were thrown at me but I ignored them since I was not in the mood. And just focus on eating and drinking the ale I ordered.
After a while, the atmosphere in the tavern became normal and the people were not minding me anymore. Some of them even approached me to ask me a couple of things such as how I survived.
But I simply refused to reply, telling them that I was too tired to answer their questions. Because I doubt people would believe me even if I tell about the helmet artifact that I found. Even the heroes won't believe me about that.
And after finishing my meal, I decide to rent a room upstairs. Then I went to the said room after paying the tavern owner.
Without delaying further, I lay on the bed right away.
I begin to think about what I should be doing tomorrow, as I am no longer a kingdom soldier anymore. I would be low on money soon as I do not think the money that I received after I was dismissed would last.
I would probably need to find a job…
It's not a good thing but I guess that is what I'm going to do tomorrow. A job-hunting.
And with that, I close my eyes and fall asleep right away.
And for a long while, I rest without worrying about the upcoming problems.

After resting properly, I woke up as soon as the sun was up. I stretch my body immediately and then quickly wash at the nearby water well.
Then after that, I start exploring the settlement to find some jobs for me to work for money. There are several options, that as to be an adventurer or a mercenary. However, I feel like mercenaries might not suit me well as I might have to fight in wars.
Because I decided to stay out of that kinda stuff... all because I have my freedom now and I think I could be more.
So I opted to be an adventurer for now since I don't need to worry much. Since I'm confident in myself and Helmy to handle any kind of situation.
I asked around the settlement for where the adventurer guild building was. I was directed by the people right away as the building is very noticeable.
Without delaying any further, I make a beeline to the adventurer building and enter right away.
And right away, I was welcomed by the busy atmosphere inside. Adventurers everywhere trying to find a quest for them to complete or maybe checking out their reward after completing a mission.
Regardless, I approach the receptionist right away. She notices me right away and proceeds to welcome me.
"Welcome to Adventurer Guild, how may I help you?" The receptionist greeted me with a smile.
"I want to register as an adventurer..." I reply right away.
And she nods, then gives me a form with an ink pen. "Please write your name here and fill out all of the necessary information."
"Here, I've filled it out." After filling out all of the necessary details, I proceed to return the form back to her.
"All seems to be an order and past occupation is a soldier, good to know that. Even if someone has good experience in combat. Everyone would start in F rank first." The receptionist said right away as she proceeded to give me a metal tag. "This is your adventurer tag, keep it close to you. It would serve as your proof for registering."
"Thanks but could explain to me how ranking work as an adventurer?" I asked right away as it would be nice to know. And because I have yet to learn how one gains rank in this job.
Was it based on how many quests people have taken or the achievements in a certain quest they had finished?
"Well that is simple, raising one rank requires you to take quests in that specific rank and finish them without problems. It's pretty easy to understand right, but you would gain rank much faster if you achieve feats or take requests from other people. That is how it works mostly, but ranking up depends on the guild judgment mostly." She explains in detail right away and I simply nod as I understand.
With that explanation, I can already understand how the ranking works in adventurer jobs.
But I also noticed something about what the receptionist had said earlier, "I have another question... I am currently ranked F right so I couldn't take any quest higher than rank F right?"
"Well, that is right, though you can take a quest with a different ranking but it requires the approval of the guild staff. However, it would be better to take a quest of your current rank so that you could raise your rank faster. So in the end, it would be up to you on what quest to take."
Hmm…
"Thanks for explaining to me the ranking system," I said right away as it was nice to have this info early. And maybe I would take high-ranking quests just to gain more rewards and also to test my limits.
With Helmy boosting all of my stat, I doubt a common enemy could defeat me now.
And when I was just about to walk away from the reception area, the receptionist lady called me out. "Wait a minute... I forgot to explain to you about one stuff."
I turn my direction right away. "What is it?"
"All rank F adventurers are required to be on a party as they are too low ranking to take quests higher than rank D alone. As an adventurer, one must be in a party to be able to take higher-ranking quests. But I think you might not have a party so would you like to join another party?" She explained and offered right away.
Though the offer is tempting. Since most of the parties usually had a specific way how to do things and with Helmy by my side, I could solo everything just fine.
However, I doubt raising my rank would be easy if I only took the F rank quest alone.
Which is why joining a party could be my option.
"No need, I think I would be trying some rank F quest on my own first. If I decided to take on a higher rank quest, I would try to find someone to team up with." I reply right away in a polite manner.
And the receptionist understood right away as she simply smiled at me. "I see... well please be careful on your first quest. Also if you manage to team up with anyone, please let us know first. As we would like to make sure that it is okay."
"Okay, thanks," I said my last word and then proceeded to check out the quest board. There are a lot of requests available, but I realized that rank F quest ain't that exciting.
