Chapter 7 - Sorry,I think it was a misunderstanding

Alastor

After Xander and I carried out the troublesome court's execution I headed back to the tower, from what I had witnessed the previous night, I had a lot to think about. When I got to the tower I went straight to my office to think it all through.

'I had never expected that kid to grow to that extent in just a few days, that much progress was literally impossible for any normal mage, but again was in no way measurable by normal standards, but again he was doing things that I would have never expected to be possible, he was playing around with the beliefs of mages had accumulated for ions, he truly had quite the talent, one which was one in a million. If I had gotten him it would be equivalent to the sum of most of the people in this tower, his was unmatched in worth. But Xander had gotten to him before I had the chance to and Darvin had unfortunately chosen Oris, and there was nothing I could do about it. '

'The what if I support him? Although I may not have a direct connection with him might be able to build a connection with him. If this went according to how I intended it would be for the best.'

Immediately I summoned one of my advisers into my office and asked them to take care of the new count. I needed to get someone who could help me with this.

I needed him to get me someone competent for the job.

While in the office I felt cooped up and bored, so I got up and started going around, I did not want anything like what happened to Xander to take place in my own tower as well. My disciples were doing great they were talented mages, as I thought of them as talented I realized how much the praise would lack meaning for them if they were placed together with Aldin.

As I walked around I noted that most of the staff didn't have that much work to do hence most of them were training together with the knights, although productive I suddenly got the urge to see whether there was any possible way to improve on it.

I soon found myself on the lower floors, I rarely visited the normal members of the tower, and today was an exception, and since I did not want to cause any commotion it was best that I hid my identity as I walked through the tower. I grabbed one of the knights and asked them to give me their armour, he surrendered it without any question although I left him in the bathroom stall with very light clothing for the winter. Meanwhile, I wore it and added a hood to it to make my face less recognisable.

The regulars were training. I walked in to watch them, they were all averagely doing well, which was in fact, much better than I expected for recruits who had been there for less than a month.

"Excuse me, who are you?" I heard. When I turned I was facing, a man in a mages' robe, he seemed to be the instructor for the trainees.

"I was just coming over to take a look, is there anything wrong with that?" I asked.

"No, but shouldn't you be doing your job rather than coming over to watch the trainees," He asked.

"Well, yeah but I was only passing by, I was actually just about to leave," I said and walked out.

As I walked out I saw the official I had assigned the task of looking for a good replacement for the count, he walked into the training hall.

I was curious why he would come to the training area so I hid behind the wall.

"What are you doing here, aren't you supposed to be at the top level," the instructor asked the man who had walked in.

"Relax, I am actually here on a task I was assigned," the man said.

"And what does that have to do with coming here?"

"Well, it actually has something to do with you,"

"What?!"

"You heard me right, you. The tower master needs somebody to take care of Aden and I was thinking you would be the perfect person for the job,"

"Why me?"

"First of all I think it would suit you very well, and secondly the place does need some reshaping and you would be the best man for this job, you'd get them in line within no time,"

"I have my duties here, I won't be leaving so go find someone else,"

"Why not, it is better than being just an instructor over here and you'll get to become a noble,"

"Because as I said I have better things to do here, I can't abandon these kids, I took them in and I will take responsibility for them,"

From the part of their conversation I had heard I now had a good idea of what was going on so I continued roaming around the tower, much sooner than I thought I got bored again and walking around that much had made me tired, I gave the guard his armour back and got into my office.

In the time I had been walking around, I had been thinking about it all and I came up with an idea and while I was seated in my seat I decided I would go along with it.

Later the man who had been searching for a new count walked in, behind him he had some guy.

"This is Kyle, he was a noble once before joining the tower and has experience in management since he used to deal with it at his family," the man said.

"No thank you, I found someone else," I said and walked out of the office and went to the regular's training area.

The man who had been training the regular students was still diligently training them, I walked over to him and only when his trainees started kneeling did he notice. He turned and when he saw me too knelt.

"How may I be of assistance to you," the man asked with his head down, this was the least he could do, after all, respect was to be given to the tower master.

"I need you to go somewhere on my behalf," Alastor said.

The man was shocked and looked up.

"I need you to take care of Aden city for me," Alastor said." And don't worry, I will get the students somebody to train them and I will personally ensure they get the best out of it," Alastor said.

He followed me to my office where I briefed him on why I wanted him to go and the reasoning behind it. Being there to me was much more important than him being here, if he could help Aldin in any way that would be more beneficial than him staying here.

"I will do as you wish," He said.

"Then it is settled, you will be leaving once you are done packing, go pack and we will leave immediately," I said and he began walking, he came in several minutes later with two huge carts but he was carrying them by hand, he had great strength.

"I have to ask, have you used the body refinement technique," I asked, the strength he had just applied was unreal.

"Yes." He said, he also suddenly tensed and his head faced down.

"Where did you learn it from?" I asked since he looked too young to have learnt it before it was erased.

"I learnt it from a passing mage who came by our village when I was a kid," He said tensing up even more.

"Good," I said and he looked up at me shocked.

"What?" He asked puzzled.

"Aldin also practices it, it will be good for him to have a guide through it," I said.

"Who is Aldin?" He asked.

"An unimaginably talented kid, you won't know the extent until you meet him," I said.

We flew to Aden, it took us some time to get there since the distance was great. After introducing him to the officials at the county I brought him to the Randells.

As I opened the door I was met by Sylvia who pounced at me, but before I could see everything clearly Aldin was in front of me and he blocked her cancelling her spell as well.

"Mom relax, It's just Alastor," Aldin said trying to calm his mother down.

Azir who was behind Alastor was shocked at how fast Aldin had disappeared, though he had not noticed Aldin cancelling his mother's spell nor did Alastor.

"What brings you here?" Aldin casually asked Alastor, Ariz almost fell over. It was common knowledge that tower masters needed to be respected, they held great power and ending a person's life was as easy to them as taking a breath. It was also common knowledge for those who had seen Aldin in action why all the tower masters close to him treated him so well.

"I was dealing with something in Aden and saw it fit to pass by," Alastor said.

'How does this kid talk so casually with a tower master,' Ariz thought to himself.

"But I have to ask why was your mother angry," Alastor asked very politely.

"I think it was a misunderstanding," Lark pipped in.
