Chapter 5 - The Burmese woods

"Tomorrow I will be joining you, no room for argument," Xander said as Lark got up.

"Okay," Lark said with a heavy heart.

After, the guests began leaving slowly but not before bidding Aldin bye, the group with Strix left last leaving the house with only ALdin, Sylvia and Lark there.

"Let's get you in bed," Sylvia said to Aldin and holding his hand they went to his room.

Sylvia put Aldin to bed and tucked him in,.

"Goodnight Mommy," Aldin said to Sylvia.

"Goodnight honey," Sylvia said before kissing Aldin on his forehead and leaving and the lights going out.

Sylvia then went to her room, she found Lark on the bed, changed but sited on the side.

Sylvia went and sat next to him.

"Is there anything on your mind," Sylvia asked.

"I just never expected our little kid to grow up so fast, I miss the good old days," Lark said a bit depressed.

"Don't be sad, he will always be our little son," Sylvia said to comfort her husband.

"I know," Lark said.

"And you should also know, I didn't get my period this month," Sylvia said, it took Lark a few seconds to digest the statement.

"Are you sure?" Lark asked in a loud voice.

"Quite down or Aldin will hear you, and yes it's true. I wanted to wait a bit longer so that you could notice the bump growing but now seems alright," Sylvia said.

"I love you," Lark said hugging Sylvia.

That night Sylvia slept in her husband's arms.

Meanwhile, Aldin was in his room with his eyes wide open.

'How was he able to do that?' Aldin kept on thinking to himself in the wonder of what happened to cause it, in the end, he got a headache trying to figure it out and just went to sleep.

Back at the count's castle, the count was executed and his family was sent away. Alastor chose one of the men in the castle to take it over.

The next morning Xander appeared at the Randells' doorstep with Aldin's axes in hand.

Sylvia welcomed him in where the whole family was seated having breakfast, Xander placed the axes on the ground and joined them on the table. Sylvia brought him some eggs, bacon, bread and tea.

"You have great talent in the kitchen Mrs. Randell," Xander said enjoying his meal.

"I'm glad you like it," Sylvia responded. " But I have to ask, what are those axes for?"

"These are ALdin's," Xander said.

Sylvia looked at the giant axes and then at Aldin then the axes again. She said nothing as she went back to her seat.

"You must care for Aldin to have gotten him those axes, they look of great quality," Lark said.

"He is my most valuable disciple and I would do almost anything for him, but unfortunately I am not the one who got him those, he made them himself," Xander said, this reminded Lark that his son was proficient in using all four major specialisations.

"Good job, how about you make your mummy some equipment on of these days," Sylvia said.

"I will," Aldin said with a smile on his face, his mother's compliment had blinded him.

"Good job son, I am so proud of you," Lark said seeing what Sylvia had done.

"Thank you Daddy," Aldin said with a smile from ear to ear.

"And how about you make some equipment for Daddy as well," Lark said.

"Okay," Aldin said. Lark and Sylvia patted his head as well.

When they were done, Aldin and Lark went to change into their armours, Aldin had to readjust his since it was too big for him. Sylvia watched him do it and was impressed by his skills. She was capable of doing it but it took her much longer and it would have been impossible for her to compress it as much as Aldin without doing it several times, when they got downstairs Aldin adjusted his axes to become smaller and double-sided.

They then left to go on their hunt, Sylvia waved them as they left before going back in to get ready to leave for work.

As Aldin walked across the streets all eyes were on him, it had been a long time since they had seen him when he had left for the academy and now was roaming on the streets. They could also see the great armour on him and the weapons on his side.

Rumours began to spread.

"Let's pass by the guild, we should probably inform them that we will be delivering a hige amount of materials today," Lark said.

"No need, I'll take them to the fourth tower, they have great processors and it'd take less time," Xander said.

"Sure," Lark said and they went on their way but someone came running over to Aldin.

"How have you been master?" The man said when he got close to Ian.

"Ian!," Aldin said in shock.

"I have been good, and you seem to be doing good as well," Aldin continued after seeing who it was.

"Thank you, the guild master took good care of me and my sister," Ian said.

"Who is this Aldin?" Xander asked.

"I am Ian, I serve Aldin," Ian replied before Aldin could say anything.

"Nice to meet you, but we are in a hurry to somewhere, you can have some time with Aldin in the evening.

"Yes, you can bring Valeover for dinner," Lark said.

"Okay mister Randell," Ian said before running away.

"Now, I don't think we have all day to get to our destination, would you mind taking us there Mr Randell," Xander said.

"Sure," Lark said and a light construct board formed next to their feet and they got on it and sped off near the ground throughout the city until they got out where they rose to the sky. In a few minutes, they had gotten to their destination.

They arrived at what looked to be a ginormous The end of it was not visible since there was a giant cloud in the middle.

"This is the Burmese forest, let's head in," Xander said.

Aldin walked in leading the way with his weapons ready and his feet in the air with the help of flight and radar in use to detect everything.

They got in and did not meet any beast, after a few minutes they came across a group of giant snakes. Before the snakes could realise there was someone in their territory they were all shot in the head and fell in an instant.

As they went more into the forest they came across a lizard that was lying on the ground.

"Why are there no…" Aldin began saying but his mouth was covered by his father.

Xander thought signalled him to stop.

"He needs to learn on his own," Xander said and without any hesitation shouted then he and Lark rose in the air.

Aldin was surprised by their sudden behaviour, but he realised it the next second, accordion to rader a wave of beasts was approaching him.

'Shit, the beasts here are sensitive to sound,' Aldin thought to himself.

Before they could even get to him Aldin began firing at them with ice needles that were small but not too small, those who would be lucky to escape that onslaught would still find death a few steps forward as Aldin was ready for them with floating ice whips, he had to concentrate a lot to be able to beat the whole wave and it took him several minutes before he could finish all of them off.

At that moment Xander and Lark came down.

"It seems you learnt a lesson today, how about we go ahead," Xander said.

Aldin reluctantly moved on after a sigh.

Meanwhile in the back Lark was surprised at what he had just seen, his son in action and it made him realize just how powerful his son was.

They went in further and all the beast groups they would find would meet a quick death. When it was noon they had gone through several groups and Aldin was not yet tired.

"Fine, I'll let Aldin come here on his own," Lark admitted.

"Good, now let's head back as we collect the carcasses," Xander said and so they did, once in a while they would find other beasts preying on the beasts Aldin had killed and take them down adding to the carcasses they had collected.

They left the forest with a huge pile of beasts, but those were not all of them, those that were not good enough were left behind to reduce the weight of what they were carrying, but they still came out with a lot of them.

When they got out with a lot of open space they placed all of them in an ice cart before freezing them in.

"I'll take them to the fourth tower, but my advice for you is not to focus on the money and more on the experience, you already have more than enough, and also if possible could you make me a cool weapon with one of the carcasses," Xander said before disappearing to the sky and appearing a hundreds of miles away in a few seconds.

The father and son then headed home.
