"Amy? Are you okay?" Viola tried to walk in closer but Amy noticed the magic circle is now acting up more erratically than before.
Amy stared at her sister with an quick outstretched palm to stop her. "Wait! Don't come any closer!"
There was another blinding flash of light and when it stopped, Viola started rapidly blinking before her eyes began rolling back.
Predicting what is happening, Amy quickly ran to her side before she fell, panicked stricken.
"Shit! Vi-"
Amy stopped after sensing her magic is dangerous low. It is similar to her previous situation except that the quantity of her magic is much weaker than hers.
Amy looked behind her to see that the ritual is now truly finished. The second reaction was much stronger than the first and Amy could feel her own magic weakening as it sucked so much of it out of her. As for why she is the one left standing is obvious.
It is to be expected. Her magic is far weaker than mine.
She carried Viola's arm over the shoulder and struggled to carry everything at once until she relented and did a levitation spell on her sister while she carries her things.
She could see the eyes of the other students as she walked by them, in the middle of practice, with an unconscious floating student next to her, trailing side by side.
After dealing with passing students, she took her to the infirmary where the nurse stared with a shocked expression.
"I was practicing my magic and she got caught in the middle of it." She explained.
The nurse examined Viola in her arms before taking her away without asking any more questions.
"Sorry, Viola." Amy murmured and watched as she is taken away to a bed in a private room. She then approached the nurse. "Can I stay by my sister?"
"I'm afraid not. It is a school day tomorrow. You can visit her after classes." she said gently.
Amy is irritated but resigned to the nurse's words. But before leaving, she wrote a lengthy note to her sister. She'll be extremely happy to wake up and see it. She already owes her for her help with the scriptures. Now, she owes her even more.
While walking down the corridor, Amy looked around to see if there are any people and decided to check on the magic circle which is the side of a walnut and much to her surprise, instead of a green color, it has a slightly watery appearance with a bright turquoise color palette.
"What the hell is this?" she murmured as she examined it. The circle makes no sound or create any light upon its activation regardless of whether it is in use or not. It kinda looks like water reflected by light. The colors are in the right place and pleasing to the eye.
Without so much as a thought, the circle disappeared just as quickly. This broke all previous expectation. Magic circles can get a bit of an upgrade all on its own. If a person's magic is unique enough, it is able to do that. She sometimes forget that she is a transmigrator in Aron's mother's body. Violet is powerful in her own right.
Aron's specialty in magic circles did not come from the fact that he was a good mage or having powerful parents but the fact that he knows how to make use of it despite being a fighter. He became the first ever person to create a magic circle made specifically for stealth. While hers didn't look identical as his, it is at least somewhat similar. As Aron's mother, it doesn't come as quite of a shock to see her circle has a similar effect.
Then again, he inherited a power that isn't normally inheritable, she thought with an unimpressed expression and began walking. She saw Ramiro at his perch where she left him and gave him a little stroke on his back at which it cooed approvingly at.
"Let's go home." she said and took off.
Her walk back was constantly blocked by students wanting questions and Amy was stern and wise to not talk to anyone of what happened. It was quite overwhelming until she finally got back into the safety of her own room.
She then grabbed a box full of fist sized crystals from her storage but sighed as she puts everything away. She can't be too eager after what happened last night. Midterms will be coming soon.
Then she heard pecking and saw one of her wooden bird fly in. Amy's widened as she saw the carving on its wing. It is shaped like the sun. That is the bird keeping Leon surveyed. Its eyes were red like rubies. Then it made of series of wooden clanks and pauses to her from its beak.
He's in danger.
Without so much as thinking, she quickly got her things she kept in her closet and head out with the wooden bird now perching on her shoulder.
Over the years, she used her imagination along with the construction ability to create wooden birds to communicate in code. The birds gain intelligence after using almost illegal magic but with very little consequence. She then created this made up language as a way to communicate with it. But because there is little she could get away with, she only created two; Leon and Rufus.
She touched the wooden bird and left a checkpoint on it first before pulling out its eyes to see the last thing it saw. Apparently he tried to sneak into something with Rufus, but haven't left since. The bird saw it as a sign of danger. She quickly grabbed her things and head out of her door only to be met by a visibly angry Melissa.
"Amaryllis! Have you see Leon? He was supposed to help me finish with Professor Wyatt's homework." She looks angry enough but is very composed in her speech.
Amy shook her head but is internally happy to see she is not mad at her about Viola. "Actually, I'm looking for him right now."
Her gaze softened, "By the way, I heard about what happened to Violet. Is she okay?"
Amy nodded in response. Melissa gave a sympathetic smile in return. "When you go find Leon, tell him that I will not help him anymore."
Amy had a puzzled look on her face. "Help?"
Melissa sighed with exasperation. "These days, I see Leon getting out of the dorm during curfew. I've been making excuses for him and Rufus but it seems that they're not willing to keep their promise to me. He told me he is looking for you. That's why I came to see you."
Amy felt irritated at the mere thought of being used as an excuse but it died down quickly.
"Do any of the teachers know?"
"Nope," She answered, "but I'm about to. They are particularly late."
"I'm gonna go search for them. If I don't come back in an hour, go notify a teacher."
Melissa nodded the left the room. It was a good choice to notify Melissa of the queen's mission to her and Rufus. Her healing powers are going to be needed in the future.
Ramiro looks at Amy from his perch and tilted his head to her.
"Can you find them for me?"
The bird cawed in return the said, "Come on" in a broken but proud tone.
Ramiro is a raven. Of course he could talk.
"You want to join me?"
"Yes" he replied much to Amy's delight. Ramiro grew up to be a smart bird.
"Alright, besides I might need your sight."
Ramiro perched onto her shoulder and Amy began heading out. Unlike the other dorms, The Sun dormitory security is not regulated by staff but entirely of barriers. Leon and Rufus are strong but they will not be able to get past the barrier after hours easily. Even she is not strong enough to bypass them. In honesty, this does provide an opportunity to use her circle. As quickly as she took a step, she disappeared like a wisp of smoke.
