Every Aura Zone in Bordium is demarcated and appears on all maps. An Aura Zone is extremely dangerous for any Non-Dragon being, making it crucial to locate and mark these zones.
This practice aids in ensuring the safety of individuals and, consequently, the development of administered territories. However, these zones can also be beneficial for the Non-Dragon population, especially the Pacified, if certain precautions are taken.
Unpacified Zones can be useful as well, for extracting specific resources or for training Dragons. For Dragons, an Aura Zone is not just a perilous and unstable place; it's also an opportunity to train and become even stronger.
As long as Dragons can remain conscious and rational within, they can intensify their Aura synchronization training ten to twenty times more effectively.
However, even for experienced Dragons, precautions are essential during training. Negligence can expose them to various threats, including Blood Frenzy, Aura Influx, induced comas, poisoning, etc.
Overall, classifications are distributed based on species, strength, and size, and all information is publicly available. There are no unmapped Aura Zones in Bordium, and each zone's characteristics are widely disclosed.
The wealth of information results from the exploration and observation efforts employed by the Supreme Council to understand and map all Aura Zones. However, the Supreme Council does not allocate resources to regulate and control all Aura Zones in Bordium.
In reality, the Council delegates authority over Unpacified Aura Zones to Regional Councils and Territory Governors where the Aura Zone is located.
That's why it's common knowledge that any Dragon wishing to enter an Aura Zone must inform the regional council or the responsible ruler.
Regardless of the reporting authority, all data will be stored in the database for the responsible organizations to access freely.
This includes information such as identity, affiliation, strength and aura level, reason for entry, duration of stay, emergency contact, etc. In some special cases, an endorsement is required.
This endorsement is for special cases where the endorsed individuals will be treated as a priority in the waiting list or recommended by the Regional Council for specific requests.
The waiting list depends on various aspects, such as danger level, proximity to population centers, type of resources found, etc. The wait can vary greatly, with some cases taking up to 5 years.
However, with an endorsement, the wait becomes much shorter, and they will be treated with priority in the selection of guests for certain tasks. The more influence and recognition the endorsing figure has, most of the time, the endorsed individuals will be immediately selected.
But an endorsement only holds weight after individuals demonstrate the capabilities and requirements needed to perform the function the vacancy requires. The requirements are mainly related to the individual's survival ability in such an Aura Zone.
Gregory, Felicia, Cristhine, and Nendula went through all the processes and easily passed the tests they were subjected to. Thus, along with Lady Petrova's endorsement, they gained permission to enter the AZL 4 .
For many, it was an extremely dangerous Unpacified Zone. A document is always signed by every non-dragon individual, agreeing that any danger faced will not be considered an accident but a calculated risk.
"In the end, we all knew that the risk was imminent, but we also knew that with the right precautions, we could overcome these risks with a reliable Statera. Even though we were only Aspirants and our Statera was slightly below average, we were confident.
I believe you, Lady Nala, would have made the same choice...
On one side, the golden opportunity to train and potentially save about 2 or 3 years in aura synchronization training, risking a lapse and falling into a Blood Frenzy.
On the other side, continuing our usual training, hoping everything goes perfectly to try to meet the goal. Something that definitely wouldn't happen...
We didn't take long to decide. No pain, no gain; no one ever gained anything without taking risks.
I know it might seem like a childish decision, but we weren't wrong, Lady Nala. We could handle the training easily. Even Lady Tatiana said it was very likely, but we didn't account for an unforeseen twist.
But anyway, as soon as we made our decision, we began preparations for the trip and our mental preparation as well. Everything was perfectly fine on our part, but the main problem was somehow stabilizing and keeping Gregory focused on the mission at hand.
We needed to trust our Statera blindly in this training, something that apparently wouldn't be so difficult for us. As Lady Tatiana said, it would be the key to prevent us from succumbing to the chaos that forms within the Aura Zone.
But for all this to happen perfectly, we needed Gregory to be 100% focused on his mission. At this point, he barely slept at home; we hardly saw him sober, and even less did he stop to train or stabilize our aura.
So we decided to cut Gregory's vacation short. No parties, no drinks, no shopping, no outings with friends or anything similar. We decided to get him back in shape, which wasn't easy to achieve; even today, he's not in shape.
That's when we realized Gregory was a bit different... emotionally distant, less communicative, more unstable. But we thought it was temporary, and with a few training and intimate sessions, he would return to normal.
And apparently, it worked. After a few nights, Gregory was much better and more focused. He seemed back to normal, or at least it seemed that way to me.
Cris mentioned a few times that Gregory was still strange, with some suspicious behaviors... But neither Nendula nor I noticed these things, perhaps because we were more focused on how the training would be and how we would execute it.
Even if we had noticed, our time was already too short; we even regret not cutting his vacation earlier. But time was lost; all we had left was to move forward and make him do his best, and everything would be fine.
It took a few days of travel for the caravan to reach the designated location. And as soon as we gathered near the Aura Zone and set up our camp with over 200 university envoys, we started exploring the area.
After 2 days of reconnaissance, we were already prepared to enter our future training ground for the next 50 days. We were getting more and more excited; you could feel the strong and chaotic aura of the Aura Zone wanting to enter our veins even at 1500 meters away.
It was at this point that I noticed Gregory began to show signs of stress and emotional coldness. Like Cris had said, he was starting to exhibit various strange behaviors. But we thought it was just anxiety and concern about entering a AZL 4.
We were very stupid, weren't we, Lady Nala? We could have avoided all of this..."
"I don't know what to say to you... It would be hypocritical of me to judge your reckless and heedless behavior. At the same time, it would be wrong for me to stay silent knowing that you probably could have avoided all of this. I think it's best if you continue your story..."
"Well... Ok... Let's continue... In the first few days, everything went well. In fact, the training was proving much easier and more effective than we calculated. We would go in, train, complete our missions, and return before starting to feel any symptoms of Frenzy.
That's how it was for the first few days, but after 20 days, signs of exhaustion began to show in Gregory. So, from the 24th day to the 28th day, we decided to take a break from our training and only resumed on the 29th day.
Now that I think about it more, it was during those 4 days that Gregory's behavior changed abruptly.
First, he started staying silent for much longer than usual. Occasionally, he would ask what it would be like if he hadn't known us. He also seemed very sad from time to time and started arguing over trivial matters.
Like when Nendula tried to cheer him up by bringing some special sweets, and he just freaked out, yelling at us and complaining that he couldn't rest...
This had happened many times on other occasions. He was always quite sensitive in certain situations, especially when he gets exhausted from training. But never before had he reacted as badly as in those days...
Just as Cris had said, Gregory was acting strange..."
