Chapter 44 - Chapter 43 – Guests

"So, as I was already planning to drop by again, I decided to leave them under your supervision for now, Inessa. It will be better, no, much better for them."

I don't exactly know what Nala was thinking when bringing three women wanted for massacring over 200 people and a seemingly psychologically ill man directly to Nenvia, or rather to Avior, Mom's palace.

Now, we are in a living room of the palace, the only one with various sofas and armchairs with some small tables containing snacks and drinks.

It's the coziest and most comfortable leisure room in the palace, and also one of the places with the least books of all I've visited in the palace.

It's spacious, comfortable, with good ventilation and lighting. Nala is sitting in one of the armchairs, with her feet on a coffee table, calmly eating some cookies she found on one of the tables.

Honestly... I hope she decided to bring them here based on something beyond the story she just told us. The story may seem complete, but crucial points are hard to overlook.

For example, the sudden change in mentality and mood the man had right after the training break. Or why the bond between them weakened.

Or worse, why, according to the women themselves, he fled without trying to help them? This is too suspicious. It seems like this guy was trying to do all of this on purpose, and not just out of fear...

Did he have something planned? And why didn't he run away as soon as possible? Did he not want to escape, considering he is still with them?

This is very suspicious... But without further details beyond what has been told now, all I heard, along with Mom, Abigail, and Hendrina, was the admission of guilt from these three women for killing more than 200 innocent people. And these same women are under the same roof as us right now.

The four of them are standing side by side just behind Nala's armchair, looking quite beaten down, serious, and resigned. As if they were just trying to survive in the wild without food or water... And from Nala's description of the cabin, this guess is not far from reality.

I'm here with Hendrina, sitting in another armchair next to the sofa where Mom and Abigail are seated. Aglaya was also here, but she left to perform a task that Mom requested.

Aglaya put on her mask as soon as Nala arrived, and Hendrina is quite uncomfortable despite also wearing the mask. I believe the other maids also put on their masks by Mom's order, even if they're not here right now.

Speaking of which, I find it very interesting that each of the maids carries their own mask. This way, they can quickly put on the mask whenever needed, such as when one of them answers the door.

That's what happened today when I was enjoying some rest time with Mom, Abigail, Aglaya, and Hendrina. Nala rang the doorbell, and Aglaya answered already with the mask on, then she led the guests to this leisure room.

As soon as they arrived at the central library, where we were previously, she didn't need to say anything; Mom and Abigail apparently already knew who the visitor was. Perhaps by some kind of sense, be it the aura Nala emits, the smell, or the sound they picked up.

I don't know, but this time, they already knew Nala was here. They just waited for Aglaya to return to instruct her to go to the kitchen and prepare a feast with Sonia and Marien. Hendrina picked me up, and we went together to where Nala was.

And here we are, discussing an extremely dangerous matter as if deciding what we would have for dinner. And I don't see any clear sign that Nala is asking for anything; she seems confident that she won't receive a no as an answer.

Mom, can you deny this, please? We are talking about 4 criminals who killed 200 people, Mom. THIS IS MADNESS.

What guarantees that they won't go crazy and start killing whatever they find in front of them? Huh? They are 3 Dragons... DRAGONS... I doubt they are weaker than Mahara and Marien combined.

"Lady Nala... I don't know if it's a good idea."

That's right, Abigail, the only one I'm sure shares my thoughts in this house. The only one who is sensible and says the most obvious things, even if she's without confidence and knows it's a terrible idea. I

apologize in advance for supporting your craziness, Abigail, even if only in thoughts.

"It's obviously not a good idea, girl. But sometimes we can't choose only the good options. Occasionally, we have to opt for the less bad ones."

Nala continues with a quite explosive temperament, from what I see. This is always a double-edged sword, either good or bad depending on the situation. Now, I think it's a terrible time, but I'm confident she won't force anything illogical.

Suddenly, she stops eating leisurely, takes her feet off the table, adjusts her posture in the armchair, and starts talking with a serious tone:

"They are in Frenzy, tired and worn out physically and emotionally after almost 23 days in a stinky, ugly, and uncomfortable hideout. They haven't taken a bath, haven't eaten, and haven't had anything decent to drink since then... In fact, I doubt they've even been able to sleep since then..."

While she's talking, Nala stops looking directly into Abigail's eyes and stands up. Then she goes to the four people and starts walking slowly behind them, trying to attract Abigail and Mom's attention to them.

Then, she touches the shoulders of each of the three women, comforting them slightly, but ignores the man. After doing this, she stops next to the last woman, a redhead but with an orange tint to her hair. And as Nala stops, she looks back at Abigail and then at Mom before saying:

"They will be judged soon... And if nothing relevant is discovered, their sentence will be execution. I want them to rest well and have a few days of peace before taking them to the Council..."

After she said these words, silence lingered for a few seconds. While Nala awaited a response still next to the redhead, Mom seemed to be considering a response. But she seemed indecisive, occasionally looking at me, then at Abigail, then at the three women...

Only after nearly 1 minute did the silence break. Abigail put her hand on Mom's shoulder and looked into her eyes before turning to Nala and then saying:

"Lady Nala... We all know that 25 days is the limit a Dragon can resist the second Blood Frenzy. Whether an aspirant or a Dragon Lady, they all succumb in a maximum of 25 days. Even if Inessa accepts, they are already at 23 days; they could succumb at any moment..."

Great... these women are on borrowed time. They could just go crazy and start killing everyone they come across whether they want to or not in less than 2 days. Now everything got even more complicated...

While Abigail spoke these words, Nala made a solemn expression, as if agreeing with Abigail's words, but that she couldn't accept. Fortunately, she continued just listening.

Mom also seemed very tense and nervous. She started rubbing her hands forcefully and began looking frantically at me and then at the three women. She also started trembling her leg quickly up and down.

"If they stayed with us in this state, Lady Nala, they would only become even more tense and worried. Just like we couldn't let them relax, as we would have to keep a constant watch on them... I know that's not what you want for them, Lady Nala."

"You're absolutely right, girl. No matter the level of aura tuning a Dragon has, even if it were a Great Dragon Lady like me or a Supreme Dragon Lady with Lady Alexandra, there would be no escape after 25 days."

After Abigail spoke, Nala immediately agreed, but then she started walking around the four people again. Without saying anything, she just walked slowly while looking at the window, then at the three women.

After several steps, she stopped walking and faced the man. She was staring at him, but he had been looking down with his head lowered since he arrived... And still staring at the man, Nala began to speak:

"The initial Frenzy is the most sudden... It comes and knocks us out, and only after the damage is done do we wake up. But the second is not sudden... It's malicious and likes to test us, make us succumb to exhaustion. No matter our strength, the Blood Frenzy only respects one thing: Willpower."
