"It seems to be settled, Lady Nala; they can stay in Avior. Inessa remains as supportive and empathetic as ever; that hasn't changed at all. They will be well taken care of while they're here, rest assured. However, in return... we need to decide how to deal with the impending Frenzy."
While Mom was still consoling the women, Abigail decided to take charge of the discussion once again. Apparently, Mom would be unlikely to kick the guests out due to her clear empathy and affection.
Fortunately, Abigail continues to be pragmatic and rational. I find this very positive; knowing how to handle matters in this way is something few can do. And let's face it, we're still talking about a risk to the safety and integrity of everyone in this palace.
At the very least, I hope Nala has some trick up her sleeve to minimize or at least contain as many risks as possible. It would be much better if the threat were neutralized, but apparently, it's not that easy.
This leads me to wonder... How can a Blood Frenzy be contained? What kind of treatment is needed to cure this condition? How long does it take? Is it difficult to do? What are the requirements?
"Don't worry about that, girl; I already have a plan to do just that. I will take measures to temporarily stabilize their auras and delay the effects of the Frenzy. But I will need the help of both of you for the process. That's precisely why I decided to come here as quickly as possible."
"That's great news, Lady Nala. Just hearing that makes me feel more at ease. But we shouldn't waste any more time; please tell me, what is needed to start the treatment as soon as possible? Time is the only thing we shouldn't waste right now."
Before answering Abigail's question, Nala smiled and took her feet off the small table before rising from the armchair. She then came over to Hendrina and picked me up without saying a word.
I felt Hendrina become paralyzed as soon as Nala looked at her, but I didn't feel Nala's aura pressure. Hendrina must have felt something more psychological, like nervousness or anxiety.
This tells me that the mask probably doesn't serve to block these feelings; I think it serves more as a way to provide a 'safe environment' for the girls. As if they needed to hide from the world.
The mask is a way to simulate that feeling without isolating themselves in a room. But Hendrina remained paralyzed even after Nala took me back to the armchair with her.
As Nala sat down, she started to play with me a bit; fortunately, she was just playing. It would be a hassle to feel the cold on my body and the shivers if she decided to test me.
"We don't have significant needs to start the treatment. However, the lack of a qualified Statera and the number of individuals to treat can pose a high burden. Nothing too excessive, of course, but if I didn't have this..."
At this moment, Nala made a hand movement, as if she were trying to cut the air. After doing this, a fist-sized sphere appeared floating from somewhere.
"Everything would be much more difficult, Abigail. Much more difficult. But fortunately, I have a small emergency reserve."
As if the fact that Nala took something out of nowhere wasn't enough to leave me open-mouthed, the sphere that is a palm's length from my nose is somehow extraordinary.
It is smooth, perfectly round, and of an intense blue color with glows and shadows. At first glance, it looks like an incredible Paraiba Tourmaline gem, but with a little more attention, it's possible to see that the interior is moving.
It's like a liquid inside a sphere. It's hypnotizing... And not only that, I feel that this is somehow very dangerous; I felt chills just by looking at it. Chills worse than the ones Nala caused me the first time.
"Lady Nala, this really is..."
"A Thaumaloy sphere, enough to double the training speed of a Great Lady Dragon for 100 years."
"That's incredible, Lady Nala. It's so rare, and it's almost impossible to buy a quantity of these... Only the Supreme Council has the authority to negotiate amounts above 100 grams."
"This was a gift for... Time of service. But that's not important. We must focus on starting the treatment for the girls. And this sphere will help us try to compensate for the lack of a qualified Statera."
I still have no idea how something like this sphere can help in the current situation. Especially when Nala keeps stating that the sphere can only compensate a little for the lack of a Statera.
But from Abigail's reaction, this sphere is incredibly rare and very expensive, so it must be useful for something. But how can increasing training speed help with psychological issues?
Anyway... while the conversation was taking place between Abigail and Nala, Mom and the three women continued in their emotional moment. They didn't react even when the sphere appeared; they just continued hugging...
And they continued this way throughout the following conversation between Abigail and Nala, who were discussing where they could do the treatment and what the procedures would be.
After a few minutes, they finally stopped hugging. At that moment, Abigail decided to get up from the armchair and began talking to the three women:
"So, girls, I won't force you into anything, but know that you can't resist the Blood Frenzy on your own for much longer. You need treatment or at least some palliative care."
While saying this, she went to Mom's side, who was still facing the black-haired woman. As soon as she got close, she touched Mom's shoulder and turned her to look into her eyes.
"We don't have a qualified Statera, so, Inessa, we must take some risks to gain much. They may suffer a bit, but it will be enough to delay the Frenzy for a few more days. Besides, we must be completely focused if we want to proceed with the plan. Otherwise..."
"Otherwise, they could all succumb immediately... I understand, Lady Nala. I understand perfectly the consequences of following this plan without being sure we can handle it. But don't worry; I'm fine, in fact, I'm very well, and I am more than capable of helping with the treatment."
Mom's voice was firm and confident. It's been a while since she seemed so confident in speaking bold words. But I have to admit, this fits her perfectly. It almost seems like another person, with an extremely high and admirable brightness and vigor.
"Hahahaha... That's how I like it, Inessa."
Nala laughed loudly and pompously; she is truly excited about the words she just heard. Like me, she must be pleased to see Mom acting so confidently.
Still with a wide smile on her face, Nala signaled for Abigail to get up and come to them. And as soon as Abigail stood next to Mom, Nala began speaking:
"You heard, girls... I can't offer what you really want, none of them... But I can at least give you the opportunity to live with dignity for a few days before everything comes to an end. That's more than many others got in your situation."
Nala waited to see the reaction of the three women, but they didn't express dissatisfaction. On the contrary, the green-haired woman even let out a small sigh of relief. And the same woman spoke for the first time since she arrived:
"Honestly, Lady Nala, it's been about 10 days since we were hoping someone would find us. There was nothing left for us; we preferred to end it as quickly as possible, but we didn't have the courage to do it with our own hands..."
The woman couldn't finish the words; she was too moved and had to stop for a while to catch her breath and try to compose herself. The other two girls didn't say anything, but they tried to comfort their friend gently...
"Each day was getting worse... Even now, we're on the edge of the abyss, too afraid to jump and paralyzed, unable to look away from the darkness. A few days of peace and tranquility are a distant dream for us... But it would be something we would die content with at this point."
"So it's decided... I can't offer salvation, but I will do my part to help you. However, I can give you a few days of peace, comfort, tranquility, and dignity to prepare for what lies ahead... But before that, introduce yourselves."
Nala finished speaking and took a few steps back; Mom and Abigail did the same. They created some space, and then the girls, one at a time, took two steps forward and began their introductions.
