"After 4 days of rest, he seemed a bit better. Gregory had rested enough, and his mood became much more stable. He was smiling again, talking normally, and no longer getting irritated over trivial matters.
Apparently, everything had returned to normal after a few days of rest, but none of us felt comfortable taking him back to training. Neither I nor Cris wanted to push Gregory further, but it was Gregory himself who said he was ready.
He said he couldn't be selfish and had to try his best for the good of all. Still, we weren't entirely convinced; we wanted to end the training for now and give a few more days off.
However, Gregory said he could no longer waste the precious time of our training. He even asked to have a full-force synchronization session to show his condition. And indeed, he was doing very well when we decided to test.
So it was decided that we would return to training but with regular days off between training days. On the next day, on the 29th day of the research expedition, we resumed our training and re-entered the Aura Zone...
When we were inside, we decided to follow the routine that had been established on all previous training days. We found a suitable location, discussed the plan, made preparations, and then started our training.
The plan was always the same:
We all transformed back into our dragon forms to begin meditating. Nendula and I meditated facing each other, with Cris between us.
Our goal was to try to drain the excess chaotic aura and leave the aura calmer and more abundant for Cris to absorb. We weren't using overload; most of the aura was released for Cris to absorb as well.
Cris sat down and started training aura synchronization with full overload. With Gregory in front of her, also meditating, he focused the connection mainly on Cris, as the overload level was always on the edge of control.
The cycle repeated many times, Cris absorbed aura from the environment and maintained the overload while Gregory absorbed the excess Aura from Cris, maintaining control. On normal days, we spent about 6 to 8 hours training, which was enough to exhaust Nendula and me.
But on this particular day, something happened that we hadn't foreseen after 4 hours of training. Apparently, an Aura Influx hit the area we chose for training, causing the aura to almost triple.
There was no time to think; Nendula and I tried to absorb and release as much as possible at full force. Cris stopped the training and did her best to stabilize the veins and start regulating the aura in her body while we were trying to protect her.
It wasn't a desperate situation; we were on the edge, but we were managing to stabilize the influx somehow. But due to a small mistake we made, the influx started to get out of control.
The situation became critical, but we didn't give up, and as everything was stabilizing again, our connection with Gregory became absurdly weak exactly at that crucial moment.
We could only feel the fear coming from him, and soon after, we heard him get up and start flying. As if he were trying to escape as fast as possible before everything got worse... The Blood Frenzy set in in less than 30 seconds, and after 70 seconds, the connection became a bit weaker, but it was no longer effective.
He didn't wait or try to protect us... He didn't warn us about what had happened... As a Statera, it's his duty to protect his companions from any external threat and prevent any interruption in our meditation. That's what Gregory should have done...
We knew it was dangerous, but I don't believe there was any danger at that moment... In fact... No, there's no way he could have just tried to escape...
Anyway, after Gregory left, the situation went totally out of our control... It took a few minutes, with us resisting as much as possible not to succumb entirely... All in vain...
As soon as we lost the fight, our minds clouded, our memories faded, and all we remember are small memory flashes of what happened that day.
What remained was chaos, madness, and a lot of violence. It didn't take long for us to lose consciousness, and only small memory flashes of the massacre are remembered. A horrible thing to witness...
I don't exactly remember how the scene looked after it all ended, but I, no, all three of us know exactly how we felt that day. The memories are faulty and few from that day, but our bodies remember the sensations exactly.
Hatred for any being causing disturbance in the environment... Delight in the massacre of those people... The taste of their blood in our mouths... Memory flashes amid the blood of the bodies... The low flight while fire came out of our mouths and burned everything and everyone...
And every day that passes, these sensations become more and more vivid and... Pleasurable... As if trying to seduce us to do it again, as if once wasn't enough, and we had to do it over and over.
All of this is still vivid in our senses, and no matter how much we try, we can't forget. Everything becomes even more vivid the more we try, and it only gets stronger with time, as if it's clamoring for us to return to that state and relive those emotions again.
We're not okay... Lady Nala... We're not okay."
After finishing the story, Felicia seem apathetic, staring into space as if in a trance. Cris was also looking at her hands with a vacant expression, occasionally clenching and opening her palms with force. Nendula, despite not being as disoriented as the other two, kept looking inside the cabin many times. She tried to get up from the chair, but always hesitated before doing so because of Nala's gaze.
Nala wasn't comfortable with the situation. She had seen cases like these many times; the symptoms of Blood Frenzy are cruel on various levels. It's something that completely transforms the essence of any living being but in a slow and steady way. It brings all primitive instincts to their peak, inducing an insatiable thirst and hunger for flesh and
blood in any rational being. And once this thirst is satisfied, the Blood Frenzy ceases, leaving the being with a sense and awareness of all the havoc caused.
It's common for people to break down psychologically. However, most people simply try to run away and don't seek help, but this only makes things worse. The Frenzy doesn't end after the first time; it only begins after the person starts resisting the effects without treating them correctly.
The taste of blood and flesh, the sensation of tearing the skin with hands, the screams and pleas for help in the background, the smell of all of it... These sensations are even more vivid because of the memory loss during the Frenzy.
How long does a person last before succumbing again? Nala had seen some last 2 or 3 days, others only a few hours. In the rarest cases, 20 days or more, as is the current case...
But none, in all the hundreds of cases, managed to exceed 25 days. This is the limit; no one can resist beyond that...
"From what I understood, on that day you were meditating, confident that your Statera wouldn't let you succumb. Then there was an aura influx at the training site, forcing you to stop training and try to withstand the influx.
Apparently, you managed to control the influx temporarily, but there was some oversight that caused you to lose control again. And when the situation became critical, the soul bond between you and this Gregory disappeared for a few seconds.
After he fled, you couldn't maintain control, which was lethal to the consciousness and rationality of your minds. Blood Frenzy set in, and you probably don't remember anything concrete except for some memory flashes, which is typical of Blood Frenzy.
For now, it's enough... I won't force more details from you; in fact, in these situations, there are never more details than it appears. My job is just to take you to the Tribunal for the massacre of the 203 researchers in the camp.
I was trying to postpone to see what your plans were and if you would succumb again before the 25 days. But from what I saw, you're not in a typical situation...
Your Statera is quite suspicious; you have a strong will, Tatiana approved your training, you have a possible ingenious in the group...
I believe the Triad will take into consideration all the factors before deciding your sentence. But I won't take you to the Council immediately; I have another task to do. I'll leave you in a safe and more comfortable place than this hut."
