He knew this might be her worry and he tried to pacify her hoping she accepted.
"Same rooms, different beds," she murmured but loud enough for Cole to hear.
"Yes, that's it," Cole replied as his fingers knocked on the table.
"If that's what you want, then no problem," Kaia replied knowing she couldn't convince him to do otherwise.
"Thank you," Cole was beyond excited since she had accepted.
"What about the signing of the document?" Kaia asked.
"My lawyer will be here soon with the document, you need not worry, just focus on eating and getting replenished," Cole said and she nodded before facing the food once more.
Immediately she was done with the food, Cole directed her to change out of the wedding gown. He could notice how uncomfortable she felt while eating but he didn't want to disturb her. She hated being disturbed while eating, it was an habit in her he couldn't change.
"Are you going to be here while I change?" Kaia asked nervously as she gathered the wedding dress close to her.
Cole looked at her and sighed. She was still the shy girl from those years ago. She would not want anyone in the room while she dressed.
"No, I will leave, with these plates," he said to her while pointing at the table.
He could see her visibly heave a sigh of relief and he felt disappointed seeing that she was happy he was leaving the room. But there was nothing he could do.
Kaia walked to the wardrobe and opened it. She recalled the one the maids had arranged the clothes into.
She opened it and shook her head. She could never understand the ways of the rich. She only saw this maids come in with a traveling bag but she has no idea the clothes will be this much.
"Erm, sir," she turned around to call but noticed that he wasn't there, neither were the plates. She turned around with pouted lips.
'He has left,' she thought to herself as she looked at the clothes arranged neatly in the wardrobe. She suddenly had an headache seeing how many the clothes were.
'If I and my ancestors wore this clothes, we won't still finish, this is just a waste of money, well it isn't mine so I don't need to be that bothered,' she thought to herself as she randomly picked a jean trousers and a cozy top.
She wasn't going anywhere so there wasn't a need for her to dress lavishly which was a lifestyle she detested badly.
Meanwhile, Cole was in the kitchen. The maids had already made their way to their quarters thereby leaving only me.
In front of him was a bottle of red wine and a glass cup. He stared into nothingness as he sipped out of it. He looked extremely sad and depressed. This was what his friend met when he came in.
"Wow, who could make out dearest Cole look this way, I haven't seen you look like this in a very long time," Melvin, who turned out to be his best friend and also personal assistant at work teased him seeing him in such a mood.
"It's not funny Melvin," Cole chastised but Melvin only laughed the more. Seeing his friend in that state caused him to laugh more.
"Sorry about that," he apologized on receiving a glare from Cole.
"I heard you got married and that too to Madison Williams, the city's belle, the news has circulated in the high society," Melvin said as he took another glass cup. He was going to drink with his friend.
"It's the work of the Williams," he replied, referring to the news making rounds in the higher society.
"Hmm, but why are you here in the kitchen? Why aren't you with your wife? There's something meant to be going on now that you are married, don't you think so?" Melvin inquired with a very suggestive gaze.
When he saw that Cole didn't reply, he didn't give up. Instead, he continued to tease him.
"I heard that Madison is very sexy, she will be good in bed, your sex life won't be so dull, she will even help you break out of your cocoon," Melvin continued to fantasize as he turned to look at Cole's face only to be met with a glare.
"I was only joking," Melvin said with a timid voice. He feared what Cole might say to him, after all it was his wife he was talking about in such a manner.
"If you want Madison that much, I can give her to you," Cole said with a stern voice while staring deep at him.
"I dare not covet your wife, I was only making a joke," Melvin hastily replied to him. He still loved his life a lot.
"I can actually give her to you, after all, I didn't get married to her," Cole casually dropped the news which caused Melvin to spill all the wine which he had in his mouth in surprise.
"What do you mean by you didn't get married to her?" He asked in surprise.
"It's a long story," Cole replied as he looked up to the ceiling.
"Then summarize it, I need every detail," Melvin was eager for juicy gossip.
"She didn't want to get married to me," Cole started and in ten minutes, he was done summarizing the story to Melvin who could not stop his mouth from opening widely.
"Hey, Melvin, are you okay?" Cole asked, hoping he had not traumatized him with the story.
"So you mean to say that if Madison had known that you were not actually sick and all, you would be married to her right now," Melvin analyzed as Cold nodded.
"There's only one word I can use for classify her she's a golddigger," Melvin said in anger.
"She's someone who only cares about people's appearance, serves her right for not getting married to you, she doesn't even deserve the title, belle of the city," Melvin continued to say in anger.
"But there's a silver lining in all of this, Kaia is back and I'm sure you are so excited," Melvin said as he stared at his friend calmly.
"Yes, she's back, I feel so happy," Cole replied.
"Kaia is finally back, that's such good news and also I can't wait to know how Madison will react once she finds out you are actually still of age," Melvin continued.
"What do you mean by Kaia is back," the two men suddenly heard a voice and they turned back to see Kaia standing at the entrance of the kitchen, staring at them with questions in her eyes.
