Chapter 15 - The Return of the Siren Goddess?

Jackson was peeking out of the door to his room to Evelyn's next door. He was extremely confused. First, they were making out to the point where they were starting to undress each other, the next moment she screamed and ran into her room. "I don't imagine anything happening tonight." He looks down and says, "What am I supposed to do about you though?" And closed the door to his room.

"What in the actual fuck!" Evelyn said standing in her room like she's a crazy person talking to herself.

"You sound angry. I'm sorry I said anything. I just still don't know how to operate my side of the system," Freya admitted.

"Not that. I watched you die! How are you in my head?" Evelyn demanded.

"Ahh. That tones excitement, not anger. Well, that makes me feel a little better. But sorry that I've been quiet. I've actually been sleeping this whole time." Freya answered,

"And you're in my head?" Evelyn exclaimed.

"I'm actually in the system," She said. "The architect designed it that way. They knew when I gave it to you, you'd still need guidance on your journey and how to use Siren powers, teach you Siren knowledge, knowledge of the world, there are loads of things I learned in the last 2,000 years that only I can teach you." She gives an uncertain laugh and says, "But even I don't know how this thing really works either. If I did you'd be getting busy next do-"

 "Can you not," Evelyn interrupted.

"Why not? You never said he was cute. His red hair is quite darker than ours," Freya said.

"So you can see everything I can?" Evelyn asked.

 "Oh yes," Freya replied.

Evelyn laid on the bed and Ember jumped onto her stomach and stared at Evelyn with a smile. "Meet Ember," Evelyn said with a smile patting Ember on its head.

"That's an adorable spirit. Is that a spitfire?" Freya asked.

 "You sound surprised," Evelyn says.

"I, uhh," Freya was hesitating. "I'm a little jealous. We other Sirens summoned our own elemental body spirits too but since we were whole divinity through and through, our spirits were large enough to cause calamities. So, we just kept them equipped. Yours is so small yet I sense it's power is just as powerful as you are but will only grow in size if you will it. So, it could stay this small forever despite you could be strong enough the level a mountain."

"I can level a mountain?" Evelyn exclaimed.

"In due time, little guppy," Freya said. "Anyway, you are not where I intended to leave you which means you've been busy while I was asleep. It looks like it's night where you're at. I urge you to get to rest."

"And what are you going to do? Go back to sleep?" Evelyn asked.

"Nope," She responded. "While you're sleeping, I'm going to go through your mind to when you woke up and watch it all to current to see what you've been up to. Well, I'm just going to go there and watch it like a movie. Fast forward past showers and bathroom breaks of course."

"Gee. Thanks," Evelyn said sarcastically. "But I guess you're right. I'm already laying here." She looks down, "And Ember has already fallen asleep on me, so I guess it's settled. Goodnight Freya."

 "Goodnight Evelyn."

That night was the first sleep Evelyn has had in her 19 and a half years of her life where she fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Once Evelyn fell asleep, Freya got started repeating her memories from when she woke up to current.

"Looks like she didn't exactly choose the Brawler class originally and that it chose it for her due to a thought she had. She still needs a class weapon so I can help her out with that."

"Oh, shit. So, she did end up going back to the island. Oh, looks like that Goob she told me about is helping her. Oh no. Those look like guards on the island. Oh my Orc! Did she just throw out a fireball? That was magnificent!"

"Uh oh. She's alone in that factory with that guard. Oh… Oh… Are you kidding me Evelyn? You killed them like that?"

"Oh, okay so now she's at the school. Oh my. She's literally lighting everything on fire. Did she really hate school that much? I know children hate school but damn. Looks like she's cornered in the gymnasium now. What is, oh. She's doing the dance… And there it is. An array of flames bloody everywhere. That guard isn't quite dead. She's injured but- Oh. Now she's dead. Man, Evelyn is ruthless."

"Wow. I was caught off guard too. I thought she was fine for a- Did she just grab a fish to fight that guard? I wouldn't advise that to be smar- Wow, she's actually holding up well against her. Oh, so now she's planning to use her brawler class to good use. Oh. She's getting her ass beat bad. Geez. Oh, there it is. The Brawler class special ability. Well, she won but didn't really kill her. I guess she does have mercy."

"Is that an Orc? What does the island have an Orc for. She can't- Oh. It's dead."

"And there she is. Rescued. Wait, what is she doing? Wait, what is that. Oh my. Evelyn. Oh no."

Freya had just replayed Evelyn's life bad a short while already and had already felt a little overwhelmed about what Evelyn had done since she was asleep. "She must have killed so many people in that last attack." Freya then took back everything she had just said, "You know, knowing her mother and father, that checks out."

Evelyn woke up the next morning and looked down to see Ember sleeping soundly on top of her. "Good morning cutie," she said. Ember woke up and with sleepy eyes, smiled at Evelyn.

Evelyn stretched and moved Ember aside as she got up and left her room in pursuit of the bathroom. When she returned to her room and laid back down, she was falling in and out of going back asleep until Freya interrupted her tiredness with, "I think I've created a monster."

Evelyn shot up, "I'll fight it." She regrouped herself by yawning and said, "Wait, what?"

"Oh gosh, Evelyn. I meant you," Freya said.

"I'm not that bad," She said shyly.

"With that last stunt you pulled, you probably killed almost 100 people. Everyone if you might be lucky," Freya exclaimed.

Evelyn though for a second and then said, "If I really did kill anyone then I sure am missing a lot of exp."

"Super charged attacks don't grant exp. They were designed for you to have fun. You didn't even have to do what you did," Freya said.

"Don't get snippy with me. You didn't exactly prep me or include an instruction manual with this thing, you know," Evelyn said.

Freya and Evelyn were silent until Freya finally admitted, "I'm sorry. You're right. I should have remembered you were all alone. But I'm here now."

"Well you don't really know how to operate the system either," Evelyn said.

"I think I have good handle on it," Freya said confidently.

Evelyn shot her down, "If that was true, you could have reached out to me after I had time to get my freak on last night."

"I'd be blushing in embarrassment if I had a physical body still," Freya said.

"Yeah. What happened down there?" Evelyn asked.

"The Lobalisk started to win. My consciousness was transferring into you and was in an out-of-body experience watching it eat my body. So, it's probably divine snake poo now." Freya answered.

"There were exactly a thousand other ways you could have worded that," Evelyn laughed.

 "You asked," Freya answered.

"Captain! CAPTAIN!" Evelyn could hear Laylee yell from the top deck. She left her room going up to the top deck and everyone was standing around looking at Goob as he was reading a paper.

"What is it, Captain?" Bobo asked.

Goob handed Laylee a folded piece of paper and read the headline, "There has been a change to the map of the southern sea of Tarragon. Gabuslma has been erased from the map."

"Geez Evelyn. What did you do?" Freya said.

Whispering quietly, "Shut up. That wasn't me."

"Before any of you look at Evelyn, stop. We all saw the Island. It was still there when we left. This seemed to have happened several days ago," Goob said.

"Does is say who did do it?" Fawn asked.

Goob looked back at the paper, and then sighed. "Let's consider ourselves lucky we left when we did." He laughed. "The Bloodstone Pirates were responsible for the removal. The fleet of the Pirate King and Queen. King Blackbeard and the fearsome Queen Bloodstone of the Bloodstone Pirates. The Black fleet of 100 ships."

Kanaka was laughing from the from the helm, "Oh, yeah. We would have died."

"Imagine if you had stayed," Freya said.

Evelyn whispered, "Can I just talk to you in my head."

 "Try it," Freya said.

"Can you hear me now?" Evelyn thought to her.

"Oh look at that. It works," Freya laughed.

"Do you know anything about them?" Evelyn asked.

"Who? The Pirate King and Queen?" Freya asked.

 "Obviously."

Not giving Evelyn much to go on, Freya responds, "Yeah. I do."

 "And…"

 "And what?"

"Why did they just happen to show up to Gabuslma and wipe it off the face of the Earth? I can't see how it's that much of a coincidence they show up right when I left."

"And I know a bit and until I think my thought is justified and correct, I can't say anything at this time."

 "That's stingy," Evelyn thought.

"Well, the only good news from this is Laylee has a new map to update," Good yelled.

"Yay me!" Laylee said opening the map.

"Kanaka! Set a course to our next destination!"

"Mister Goob," Evelyn said. The crew looked at Evelyn and the Captain seeing if he was going to scold her for not addressing him as Captain.

"Oh Little Lyn. Please. We're done with that. You can call me dad now," Goob laughed.

"Oh. Okay. Captain Dad," Evelyn said.

"You know what, we'll work on it. What is it?" Goob smiled.

Evelyn asked, "So where are we going?"

Goob jumped down from the upper deck and put his arm around Evelyn and said, "Well the happiest place on Neptune! We're going to Waterworld!"

Evelyn felt a jolt of excitement inside her. "How in the hell is Waterworld the happiest place on Neptune?" Wasabi yelled. The excitement in Evelyn suddenly died.

"What do you mean? It's a great place!" Goob laughed.

Wasabi came into view from the upper deck with a wet stone that he placed on the railing as he sharpened his katana, "A real great place wouldn't need to close and keep reopening due to sea beast attacks!" Wasabi replied.

Goob laughing said, "Oh what's a sea beast here or there?"

"If we're going to have fun, I would really like to not be interrupted by work," Wasabi admitted his main concern.

Goob replies with excitement, "We can take whatever shows up!"

"Yeah, I know that, but it would be better if nothing showed up," Wasabi mumbled getting back to sharpening his blade.

Evelyn addressed Goob, "So, everyone has a responsibility here." Goob looked at her. "So, what exactly is my job? I feel like to be part of the crew I should have a job too."

Goob smiled at her and said, "I have an idea. It's something you do really well, but you don't have to do it if you don't want to."

 "What is it?" Evelyn asked.

"Follow me," Goob said leading her below deck.

"I'm sensing you're excited," Freya said.

"Shut up. I am excited," Evelyn thought.

They walked through a door on the floor of the ship right below the bedrooms and Evelyn's eyes lit up to a giant dining room and then through another set of doors to a large kitchen.

"You want me to be the ship's chef?" Evelyn asked with a smile on her face.

"If it brings back too many bad memories, you don't have to accept this job," Goob said.

Laughing, Evelyn said, "No. No. I'd love to. Honestly. It was actually the only thing that brought me joy back on the island because it was the only thing, they let me do by choice."

Smiling, Goob walked to another door and said, "That's great. And if you need to ever come up top deck or announce the food it ready, or deliver something someone wants like a drink, or hangout top deck, fish, or bring whatever is caught back down here, or anything else that requires going up there or come down here-"

"You're talking in circles," Evelyn called Goob out.

"Apologies," he laughed. He opened the door, "There is an elevator here. Everyone else will have to use the stairs."

"Where do we get off putting and elevator inside of a ship?" She said looking inside it. "Just how many crazy things did Kanaka really put in your ship?"

"Oh, in your time here, you'll see," Goob smiled.

Evelyn noticed a smoker and a grill, "I can't use those down here." She said.

Goob looked at what she was talking about, "I have absolutely no idea about how to cook at all, so I trust you. If you plan to use those, take the elevator. But I'll take the long way out now. Come up with something special for dinner. Really surprise the crew. If you check the pantry and the deep freezer, you'll see we keep the place pretty well stocked." And Evelyn watched as Goob walked out.

"That's pretty special and nice of him," Freya said.

"No kidding," Evelyn said out loud since she was alone again.

"I think looking at your memories is the only time I've seen you cook," Freya said.

Looking at the pots and pans that were available in the kitchen and having stars in her eyes like a kid in a candy store, Evelyn replied, "That because you only summoned raw ingredients. Well kind of. There were a lot of things that were already cooked like chorizo and some meats. You actually didn't have a kitchen either," Evelyn said. "I love to cook, really. It's like a humble thing for me. That and drawing. But I just really love food."

"No kidding," Freya said. "I'm in your system and I still can't sense where you put it all."

"I'm just saying I think it's fun. And it makes me happy to see people smile from something I made," Evelyn said smiling as she opened the pantry.

"So what are you going to make?" Freya asked.

After checking the ingredients in the pantry, Evelyn opened the deep freezer to see if what she has an idea to make has the right ingredients in there.

"Oh hell yes. There's pork butt." Evelyn smiled. "And it's huge."

"Alright," Freya said. "I'm going to just create a mission for you. You know how you don't have a title yet?"

"Oh yeah. What is that?" Evelyn asked as she had set out an array of ingredients on the counter and moved the smoker into the elevator along with a bad of wood pellets.

 "You'll see," Freya said.
