"Stop talking," Jim said as he meticulously finished the examination, then slowly put the stethoscope back into his medical bag, unhurried in his movements.
Iris felt like there was a heavy stone hanging in her chest. Seeing Jim's leisurely demeanor, she couldn't help but urge him anxiously, "Can you just tell me already? How is everything?" Worry and urgency filled her voice.
Jim looked up, his gaze soft as it met Iris' face, his tone reassuring, "The baby is perfectly fine, no issues at all."
Relief and annoyance flooded Iris at the news. She grabbed a pillow and hurled it at Jim, "Then why did you scare me like that!" Her voice was a mix of complaint and the relief of a weight lifted.
Jim caught the flying pillow with ease, a mischievous smile playing on his lips as a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere spread through the room.
"I just wanted to lighten the mood a bit. I don't like seeing you all worried every time I come for a visit," he teased.
