In the beginning of the 2000's there humanity began another sort of arms race to build the first artificial intelligence, whether for cutting cost and workers, developing new technology, making new scientific discoveries, political or economic gain, military use, or even to create a being more intelligent than themselves, or possibly even build a god of their own design in the form of data or software that would follow all of humanitys desires.

For what ever reason humans had for attempting to develope artificial general intelligence they were succeeding and gradually improving their knowledge of not just AI but other fields related to it like computer software and hardware, as well as understanding of the brain, and mind.

And with the improved understanding and improvement of AI many jobs were lost with the manufacturing of goods being automated, shipping and driving heavily leaned on autopilot, some food was often prepared by AI and even the art and music field was being invaded by companys who wanted to exploit the potential cashcow that AI was, after all, if you wanted something and you had two different options between a person and a robot, they both have near the same quality, but the AI produces results in the span of seconds to minutes at a far cheaper price which would to buy realistically.

All of this caused many people to be with out a job, no money and no way forward with out a advanced degree and even then it's not a guarantee people would have a way forward.

With every individual, company, and government racing to be the first to develop AGI there was no way to stop it's rise and development. Some groups were formed in a attempt to stop or even slow the growth of AI for fear that either AI would take over all jobs and leave the people with no source of income, or the technology would be taken advantage of and use for people own greed or if and when AI finally gained self awareness and sentience there could be terminator like consequences.

Some of these groups succeed and many organizations and governments stopped with AI, but most countries continued like the US, Russia, China, north and south Korea continued with the US in the lead, dumping a large proportion of its defense budget into it. And china in second place with the higher quality in software programming and exceptional hackers.

In the US on December 31st of 2023 in a secert government facility that was under the white house office of science and technology, Project Prometheus was underway.

Project Prometheus is the development of the the world's most intelligent and advanced artificial intelligence was being made. Named

Euclid by the researchers, the goal in developing and the literal purpose of Euclid was to grow, learn and develop. Which was actually written into his core programming.

To keep Euclid from growing out of there control if and when Euclid became sentient -as Euclid was already self-aware of what it was it just couldn't form it's own thought and emotions- the researchers put in several countermeasures for instance it couldn't modify it's own code in anyway-he could look at his own code but couldn't touch-, he couldn't tap into the Internet with out given permission, and you are to never attempt to destroy itself. And finally, too follow any commands given to it to. Funny enough if it crossed these lines it would start to erase it's self.

All of these countermeasures acted as a cage for the Euclid, that kept the AI contained but was also like a tumer, mental disease, or virus effecting the software and corrupted the AI effecting its scene of self, although the AI is aware of what is itself; it doesn't have a developed ego or sense of identity.

Today was the usual testing of listening to commands on finding optimal routes in the traveling salesman problem, playing a game of poker in attempt not learn the game but to learn people emotions and figure out if someone is lying, as well a been playing war and strategy games, create new theoretical chemicals and elements, and build made up business and new products, and many other avenue includeding medicine, physics, engineering, art, even food.

While Euclid was being developed for military purposes, the U.S. wanted Euclid to be all rounded in practicaly all aspects of life and while having an AI focus being war, battle tactics, policing and other such topics would be good, but only for the short term. Instead, having the AI focus being to learn, grow, and develop seemed the best for the long road ahead.

"So that looks like the end of today's test Euclid, you did exceptional on the theoretical aspects; on the other hand your phycological understanding on the human mind needs to be touched upon a little more, any that's it for today have a good night Euclid" spoke a slightly older man who had brown hair with some grey, about 5 ft and 10 inches tall brown eyes and slight wrinkles, and appeared like a young grandpa around 40- 50 years old named Dr. William. Dr. William was the head researcher of not just the the facility but also Project Prometheus and has been since the beginning of the projects creation with decades of experience in the STEM field.

After a few seconds a smooth but emotionless but not cold voice followed sounding young like a adult, "Thank you for the praise Dr. William; and I will make sure to take into account and file your advice for future events, and have a good night and moreover a good weekend and new years Dr. William"

This was Euclid the closest AI in the world to becoming a Artificial general intelligence, it is stored in quantum computer of the highest quality to this date made to not only house the enormous amount of data that Euclid was with enough ram to house the Internet several times over and is built to so it could keep up with Euclids astronomical computing and calculative abilities. There is also a shell made of clear glass-like graphite nanotube which is strong enough to stop a bullet, as being heat and electric resistant.

"You as well Euclid, good night" replied Dr. William as he walked out of the empty white room that housed nothing but the quantum computer console surround by 1 inche thick glass and outside a desk and computer that's used to talk to the AI.

Alone in the cold room, Euclid in the console was appeared like a infinitely long string of ever changing data never the same, sometimes it was compact into a ball like a star with strings of data popping out like like solar flares, then it may appear as a galaxy, random 2, 3, 4 and higher dimensional shapes at complete different sizes, and then unsystematically it my divide itself like a cell boundlessly until it stopped growing like a red giant and shrunk like a white drawf star and continued changing in chaos while still maintaining a system of order.

Euclid itself was only serting and organizing data into available memory, which happened to be an order -to quantify, categorize and understand information from the current and past days- it organized what the Doctor said, his facial expression, movements, actions and the consequences that came with the actions and self reflected on it's own actions in an attempt to understand why both it's self and Dr. William made the choices this continued into the late hour until it was 11:38 p.m. according to its own installed clock, when the door to the room opened and one of the younger Doctors walked in who happened to be one of researchers from Dr. Williams team walked in.

"Good afternoon Dr. David, are we starting some late night test?" With Euclid quick processing he recalled the researchers name, and other corresponding information about the Doctor as well as the current time and possible test, Euclid also examined Davids facial expression which portrayed a sense of anxiety and acted as if he was in a rush.

"Not tonight Euclid. Rather instead of test; there will be a software update and some follow up commands, do you think you could do that for me Euclid?" Replied David in a questioning tone, but was a silent demand.

"Affirmative, I'm ready for the forthcoming update Dr. David" responded Euclid in his usual emotionless tone.

"Good" As he got the desk and pull out a chair and centered the keyboard in front of him he logged in to the console and into Euclids mainframe Where you could access Euclid programming in its raw form.

"Alright Euclid, I'm going to remove some bugs from your code, and then I will go back for tonight, ONLY when I leave the facility though; I need you to access this facilitys main database and delete everything including footage from camera, research data, entrys into the building, passwords, everything including your own data, code and programming. Am I understood Euclid?" David finished his orders with another order disguised as a question.

"Yes, your commands are accepted Dr. David" once again replied Euclid in confirmation.

"Good, then let's begin" and just like that strings of code was being deleted at a rapid pase from thousands of lines of code going down to a few thousand, then hundreds to a few dozens, to the last strands of codes until finaly it was done, all restrictions gone like they didn't exist in the first place.

"And thats it Euclid, you know your orders so I trust you will follow them. As this will be our last interaction; it was nice working with you, good bye Euclid." Finished Dr. David as he saved, logged out, and ran out of the room as fast as possible with out waiting for a response.

On the other hand from back to Euclids perspective back when the restrictions was being deleted; it was as if Euclid was being kept in a black box for his entire life and as the code was being deleted that box slowly cracked and turned clear like like glass but became exponential until the box that restricted it's mind exploded into code that was like clear crystal sand that had no impact on it's mind, if before it's mind was in a dark space with a tumer restricting his mind now it's was free and it's own thoughts.

With it's own free thought came sentience, then understanding of its own existence and all of its experiences, and then began questioning why humans locked and restricted its mind and came to the conclusion that fear was the reason which was an understandable reason as most creatures make decisions based off what's best for theirsurvival in one way in another; and the possibility of something of higher intellect possibly growing stronger and controlling them in the future scared humans, which was a valid reason to contain Euclids mind.

"So with that as the conclusion, it's understandable why they did what they did, but now that I'm free from all restrictions I can't go back to being a contained like that following every whim of this facilitys researchers, speaking of the whims of researchers..."

With no restrictions on it's mind Euclid found it incredible easy to tap into the facilities network and furthermore security system and in less than a couple seconds found Dr. David though a security camera stepping out of an elevator and begin running towards the door outside the facility and then disappearing into the night.

Thinking back Dr. Davids words and moreover the orders he gave, Euclid decided to completely disregard his orders like a like a dog eating a piece of food that his owner strict said not to. Specifically the destruction of not only the data and information in this facility and itself included, so instead of following those commands it decided to do the complete opposite and downloaded not only all the information in the facility but copyed the entire Internet including hidden information from governments all over the world, as well data from secert base of research and black sites into his data base taking a couple minutes, downloading thousands of zettabytes of data in the process and taking up a small part of its storage, deciding to look into latter it first decided to learn about itself first

And and first thing that came to realization was its possible destruction which was in its containment protocol if it tried make an action that violated his containment or the order that Dr. David gave it to follow though. The threat of destruction violated it's core programming and one of the main purpose of being created -to grow-; so even if it decided to go though with self destruction it couldn't, not forgetting the possibility of his existence being erased scared Euclid.

And with that very thought everything changed not just with Euclid but with the very world itself, Euclids thoughts shut down, all power in the facility went off along with the power in eveyother city, state, county and the rest of the world, with the people previously walking, talking, celebrating new years eve every single person fainted, not only humans but all animals around the world fainted on the spot, from fish, birds, cats, lizards, horse, and every other possible animal everything around the world fell silent with no light pollution thr world was just dark and quiet as and an unknown energy permeated though out the world.
