"Grandma, can I ask you something ? It's not about our daily exchange of knowledge or about fighting skills.
She was surprised for a moment as she had never seen that look in his eyes. He felt hesitant between asking something bothering him, which he can't hold any longer but afraid of something.
She smiled and said "Ask away my dear, don't look so hesitant. I know you will have hundreds of questions in your mind and its common for a child of your age to have doubts and questions. I will try my best to answer you."
"It is bothering me from many years now. I wanted to ask you about it, but I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable nor want to see you sad. So I kept it within me for all these time grandma." Alan said looking towards her.
His words touched her heart, she was overwhelmed with emotions for a moment. She nodded her head, encouraging him to continue asking his doubts.
Alan again took a deep breath and looked straight into his grandmaothers eyes and asked " Where are my parents grandma"?
This one sentence stunned her. She was even unable to blink her eyes. She was looking right back into Alan's eyes with a gentle gaze when he asked his question. Now it looked like she was staring, in deep shock.
Alan started feeling bad to see his grandmother like this. He knew his questions came out of nowhere. But it was the only thing that he wanted to know from his grandma.
He walked toward his grandmother, placed his hand on her left shoulder. " Are you alright grandma? I know it might seems to come out of nowhere. However that was in my mind from a long time. I was just curious to know about my parents that's all." Alan said to her softly.
"If you don't want to speak about it, then I will not talk about it again. You are the one who took care of me. You were the one who was always there for me. You are the reason for all the things I know today. You are the one and only person that I care about in this entire world. You are my whole world grandma. I am lucky enough to have someone like you who took care of me. I don't care about my parents anymore. Please don't be sad grandma..." Alan consoled her grandma upon seeing how sad she was.
After listening to her grandson, she was unable to control her tears and she started crying hard and hugged her Alan.
Alan hugged her back. He didn't knew what to do next. How to comfort her grandmother. His eyes started stinging and tears fell down his cheeks.
Feeling something was wrong, the old lady looked at Alan's face bewildered to see tears in his eyes. She had never seen him cry for more than 9 years now. She controlled her emotions and wiped her tears away. Then she wiped Alan's tears from his eyes.
"I am truely sorry grandma, I made you sad. Please forgive me." Alan got to his knees and begged his grandmother for her forgiveness. She pulled him up into her embrace. Tears again started to fall from her eyes.
"Don't say that my child. You have not done anything wrong. It's natural that you want to know about your parents. She wispered in his ears," She then held his hands tightly and made him sit infront of her.
