Chapter 9 - DINNER.

As they approached the grand entrance of the King's castle, Amelia's feet touched the ground once again. The air crackled with anticipation as they walked forward, their presence commanding attention. It was as if a divine energy surrounded them, radiating power and authority.

The castle doors swung open, revealing a magnificent hall adorned with intricate tapestries and glistening chandeliers. The atmosphere was both awe-inspiring and humbling, as if the very walls whispered stories of ancient rulers and their legacies.

Amelia and Karl moved with purpose, their steps echoing through the hall. The air seemed to vibrate with a sense of reverence, as if the castle itself acknowledged their arrival. The onlookers, from courtiers to servants, stood in hushed admiration, their eyes fixed on the duo.

Amelia walked with grace, her head held high, as if she embodied the very essence of power and divinity. Karl, by her side, exuded a quiet strength, his presence a shield of protection.

Amelia's heart fluttered with anticipation as she made her way to Karl's room in the imperial castle. The grandeur of the surroundings seemed to amplify her excitement. The room itself exuded a regal charm, with its ornate furnishings and rich tapestries adorning the walls.

Amelia took a moment to compose herself, ensuring she looked her best for the upcoming dinner. She carefully selected an elegant dress, its fabric flowing gracefully around her. With each brushstroke, she styled her hair into a beautiful updo, accentuating her features and adding a touch of sophistication to her look.

As Amelia and Karl descended the grand staircase, their presence commanded attention. The soft glow of candlelight illuminated the dining hall, casting a warm and inviting ambiance. The aroma of delicious dishes filled the air, teasing her senses and making her mouth water in anticipation.

Amelia's steps were confident and graceful as she entered the dining hall. The room buzzed with conversation and laughter, creating a lively atmosphere. The table was adorned with fine china and sparkling silverware, a testament to the opulence of the occasion.

As Amelia walked hand in hand with Karl, the air in the alien area seemed charged with anticipation. The touch of his hand, sent shivers of excitement through her.

They found their seats, comfortably settling down as the dinner preparations began. The room was filled with an intense energy, as if everyone present was on the edge of their seats, waiting for something extraordinary to unfold.

As the first course was served, the aroma of the delectable dishes filled the air, enticing Amelia's senses. Amelia's gaze wandered, taking in the expansive family that surrounded them. Brothers, sisters, wives, and even queens and the king himself. The room was alive with their presence, each member adding their own unique dynamic to the atmosphere.

Amelia's heart raced as she felt the weight of their stares upon her. Their eyes, filled with a mix of disgust and disdain, made her acutely aware of her humanity in their presence. It was as if she were an outsider, an intruder in their world.

The hungry looks that some cast her way only intensified her apprehension. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was nothing more than a walking meal to them, an object of curiosity and desire. It sent a chill down her spine.

As Amelia glanced at her plate, she couldn't help but notice the stark contrast. While she had a properly cooked meal, the others were served raw, bloody meat. The sight of the crimson substance, reminiscent of the blood she had seen in Karl's cup before, sent a shiver of unease through her.

Just then, the King hit the table, drawing everyones attention. All eyes turned to face him, anticipation and unease filling the space. The king's voice, commanding and authoritative, cut through the silence.

"We are welcoming the arrival of the crown prince Karl and his wife, crown princess Amelia," the king proclaimed, his gaze fixed on Karl. The weight of his next words hit Amelia like a tidal wave. "But, Karl, you'll be needing an heir."

Amelia's body froze, her mind racing to process the implications of the king's words. The room seemed to hold its breath, waiting for what would come next. The king continued, his voice carrying a mix of certainty and authority.

"Now, seeing that your human wife here cannot bear you an heir, I have made arrangements with other vampire kings. They will bring their finest daughters for you to father children with." The king's words hung heavy in the air, each syllable a blow to Amelia's sense of self.

A surge of emotions flooded through Amelia as the reality of the situation sunk in. Anger, hurt, and betrayal swirled within her, threatening to bubble to the surface. She clenched her gown tightly, her left hand hidden beneath the fabric, a physical manifestation of her inner turmoil.

The king's words felt like a slap in the face, delivered with a cruel disregard for her feelings. The fact that he chose to announce this in front of everyone, staff and guests alike, when he could speak about it in private with Karl only added to Amelia's sense of humiliation. She fought to maintain a calm expression on her face, masking the storm of emotions raging within her.
