Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Apprenticeship

It's been over two days since Tessa and the others returned to Star City and not even once had she stopped thinking about what Lily told her.

Right now she just woke up and was still in her room. She just laid on her bed feeling too lazy to get up from her bed.

She tried going back to sleep, but then a knock came.

"Go away." She said burying her head her pillow.

"Tessa, get up and get dressed. This is important. Come to the city hall as quick as possible" Duke said from behind the door then left.

After about thirty minutes Tessa, arrived at the hall were all the members were already waiting for her. Sitting greeted every one of them the took a sit, then began speaking.

"Good day everyone. We know this may come as a shock to you, but we plan on leaving Star City very soon." Ace said.

'It's about time.' Duke thought.

This did come as a shock to most of them as it was clearly shown on their faces.

"Do not misunderstanding this. We are highly greatful for the hospitality you have shown us, but we have other things we need to do that can't be done here. I hope you can understand." Ace added.

The room was silent for a few minutes until Edith spoke.

"But Lloyd and Chris aren't fully healed yet. Wouldn't that be bad since you don't know what you may come across out there." Edith said.

"We don't plan on leaving immediately. Two weeks from now is the agreed date of departure." Ace replied.

"Since that's your decision, there's nothing we can do to stop you. All we can do now is thank you for your help and support towards Star City, even if you we're to leave today you can return when ever you chose and you'll always have a home here in Star City." Tessa said.

"Thank you very much Tessa, we won't forget that." Ace said.

After the information, they discussed about other things and matters concerning the welfare of the city.

A an hour the meeting concluded and everyone was leaving to go do their own thing.

"Hey Ben," Lloyd called.

"Lloyd, what's the matter?" Ben asked.

"Um, since you are the Chief of Blacksmithing, I was wondering if you could teach me about blacksmithing." Lloyd said.

"Hohoho, so you want me to teach you blacksmithing?" Ben asked.

"Yeah, since we're leaving soon just a thing or two would do." Lloyd replied.

"Well I don't see why not. I was about heading down to the forge, you can come with me." Ben said and started walking away.

"Thank you sir." Lloyd said while he followed him.

They walked, down the city for some minutes getting to a building that was the size of a modern house.

While the were outside the sounds of hammers colliding with other metals and materials could be heard.

"Welcome to the Forge boy," Ben said then proceeded with opening the door.

The sounds became even louder because the people who were doing the hammering could be seen.

When they entered the place, the people who were busy working before stopped what they were doing and greeted Ben with a bow, Ben also did the same and they went back to work.

Lloyd was looking around the place, seeing the different things they were working.

"This way." Ben who already reached the end of the room called out.

Lloyd got to where he was, looking at the piece of unfinished equipment that was on the smithing table.

"What do you think blacksmithing is?" Ben asked while taking off his shirt.

Lloyd thought about an answer for some minutes, trying to get an answer to the question he was just asked.

"I have no idea. What is it." Lloyd replied with a question.

Ben picked up an hammer and starting hammering away at the unfinished equipment.

"Blacksmithing is synergy between the equipment and the smith. It is through blacksmithing that the equipment and smith becomes one therefore creating the perfect equipment." Ben said not even taking his eyes of the equipment he was working on.

"When making an equipment, your maximum concentration is required because one wrong move and the whole equipment could be ruined." Ben added.

Lloyd carefully watched as he precisely hammered each stop with great force but less strength.

"How Lloyd have you been a blacksmith for?" Lloyd asked.

"I have been a blacksmith my entire life." Ben replied still putting his focus on what he was doing. "Before this world, I created many swords and other weapons, at a point my improvement stopped. I thought I had reached the peak and also grew old but after coming here to this new world I found out that there's a lot to blacksmithing than I initially thought and my body seemed to be able to keep up with it."

Lloyd carefully watched as Ben hammered precisely at the piece he was working on.

"You know, I have a grandson who's just like you, he's name is Galen. I always wish that he's save wherever he is." Ben said.

Lloyd noticed that he slowed his pace down when saying that last sentence.

"You, I bet he's like you in alot of ways." Ben said now hammering at his normal pace.

"How do you meaning?" Lloyd asked.

"I heard from Ace, how you were before the this world. He told me how often you get into fights trying to protect your friends." Ben stopped what he was doing and looked at Lloyd. "Galen also got into fights trying to protect his friends, even if he knows he won't win a fight against some people, as long as his friends and people he cares get to be safe he would gladly fight anyone anytime."

"You since his parents died in a car crash, he has been living with me. Now all I can do for him is hope he's safe wherever he is." Ben said and continued hammering.

"I'm sure he's safe wherever he is and I'm sure he really misses you and is also worried about you just as much as you are about him." Lloyd said trying to comfort the old man.

"Me too." Ben said.
