' Aaliyah!'
Aaliyah looked in the direction where the voice came from and saw Harris throw himself on her. Luckily, Aaliyah wasn't as weak as other girls - I mean, she worked in her uncle's place for years, yeah worked- She caught him with a little effort. Harris was a ten year old so he didn't weigh much.
' Hey, buddy! '
' I missed you Aaliyah.'
' I missed you too'.
Seeing Harris safe and in a good condition made Aaliyah forget about her stupid stepmother. Ugh, how it annoyed her to call her that.
Speaking of the devil, Clara cleared her throat interrupting their reunion, saying ' Okay, so you've seen Harris. You've hugged, what's left? So, of you wouldn't mind leaving, we have a lot of important things to do and entertaining you is not one of them '
Aaliyah knitted her eyebrows in confusion, ' I've barely spent two minutes with him and you want me to leave already?'
' Yes'
Aaliyah looked at the stairs and saw Naya, her ever evil stepsister. ' Of course we want you to leave. You don't belong here and you weren't invited here either '
Aaliyah was seriously sick of this family. She wondered what the heck was going on in their heads. ' Naya, this has nothing to do with you. For the last time, I'm not here to cause trouble - '
' We'll, you've brought trouble to this household already!! You should just leave!! Get out of my life!!'
' Enough!! '
Naya stared at Victor surprised at his intervention. Cara was beyond stunned. He was taking his stupid daughter's side again. How could he?!
' I won't tolerate this any longer!! You're sisters!- '
' I will not be sisters with someone as stupid and shabby as her!!-' Naya retorted.
' You will do as I say!!'
Ding - dong
' And who the heck is that !?'
The poor team manager who Victor was scolding took this as his cue to leave. So, he followed Lucius to the door and as soon as it opened, he disappeared into his car and drove away.
' So, am I welcome?'
A familiar masculine voice sounded just as Lucius returned his gaze to the stranger. It was Raymund, Naya's fiance.
Lucius bowed his head slightly, saying ' Master Raymund, the mistress is inside and this might not be the best time to-'
Before he could finish, Raymund shoved past him into the living room and Naya literally jumped on him and squealed when she saw him.
' Raymund!!'
Raymund caught her and twirled her around like a princess, all the problems vanishing from her mind. When, he was done, he carefully dropped her.
' I missed you' Naya said and Raymund simply smiled. He walked over to Victor and Cara and bowed, ' Mother-in-law, father-in-law'.
Cara smiled when she saw the young man. Finally, a visitor she would love to entertain. ' Raymund, how nice of you to drop by'
Raymund replied Cara with a smile. And his gaze then travelled to Harris and then, the person he was holding hands with, ' And you are?'
' No one. As matter of fact, she was just leaving' Naya replied before Aaliyah could.
Aaliyah glared at Naya but calmed herself as she turned to Harris. Naya wasn't worth her time.
' I'll come pick you up tomorrow so we can go to the amusement park, okay?' Aaliyah flashed a sweet smile at Harris and he smiled back.
She turned to her father and saw a glint of sadness in his eyes. She could tell he was sad about her leaving. Well, he should've thought of that before he married that witch.
' Father, Cara, I'll be back for Harris tomorrow. And since it's the weekend, I think you'll have no problem with me spending time with him, because I won't be working tomorrow and my full time and attention will be given to him' Victor nodded in understanding but Cara stepped forward and shook her head.
' You can't do that. We'll be going on a vacation for a month starting tomorrow and I'm afraid you can't see Harris during that time since...you can't come along'
Cara smirked when she saw Aaliyah frown but at the same time, she looked disappointed. Aaliyah looked at Victor and saw he wasn't comfortable with that idea but he quickly replaced the frown on his head with his usual unreadable expression.
' Lucius, please show Aaliyah out' Aaliyah felt kind of disappointed hearing his words. She had hoped that after seeing that sad look in his eyes, he would at least use showing her out as an excuse to talk to her.
But sadly, her father once again chose his family over her. She looked at Harris who held her hand when he saw her expression.
She smiled at him reassuringly and headed towards the door with Lucius behind her. Before she left, she caught raymund staring at her with an unreadable expression that reminded her of Noah. And it wasnyt until she left that he returned his attention to Naya.
' Weird' Aaliyah thought as she rode away on the delivery bike.
