Chapter 1 - A Day In The Life

Adara heard a joke once, a really, really bad joke. she wasn't sure she could recall how it went, something about a fish with no eyes. The important part anyway, is that it was bad. So bad that the man who said it was killed.

That should give you an idea on the level that her master operates. Everything must be perfect, be it jokes or any other menial task. Luckily, Adara was the best at what she did, after all, she had to be.

Sighing, as Adara begun mopping up what was left of her masters meal before he got drunk and threw it up, the simple chef began reading through her status, it had become a habit recently, to try and keep herself entertained as she worked through the mind-numbing tasks that had been set.

Adara sighed audibly, before quickly shutting her mouth in fear of the master hearing. There was no need, because of course, Lord Hypnos had already fallen asleep.

Adara had grown to hate that title, forced onto her by the master. It was incredibly difficult to work around, as it prevented the chef from using any skills unless permitted, as well as forbidding certain actions, such as harming the master. Not like I could ever attempt to hurt that monster anyway.

she shook her head, rebuking herself, the only thing required of her was to cook three meals a day for the three residents of the empty mansion, including herself. she wouldn't need access to other skills anyway.

Hearing the large heavy oak doors to the dining hall open behind her, Adara turned to face the third and last resident of the empty fortress carved into the side of a mountain.

His name was Ronan, a fellow servant of the Lord, though he has long since shed the Enslaved title, Ronan remained loyal to the lord. Perhaps because without the masters protection, he would be forced to brave through the tundra that surrounded our home, probably not though, he always held Hypnos with reverence, regardless of any title.

"Adara! What is this mess! How dare you allow such a stain in the masters company!" He exclaimed as he pointed, rather violently, at the mopped up waste on the floor.

"You see, Sir, Master Hypnos has to much to drink and-"

"You dare blame the lord for your mistake, you should of prepared some form of sobering him, or at the very, least a bin! Return to your room, I will take matters into my own hands."

Adara nodded somewhat regretfully, somewhat glad, there was nothing she could of said to avoid his wrath, but alas, this way Adara could at least get some sleep before tomorrow.

Taking her leave, Adara begun making her way across the empty and cold fortress as she returned to my room, a small sanctuary that consists of a bed, a wardrobe and a toilet.

deciding to tidy the mess of belongings on the floor at a later data, Adara flopped onto her bed, exhaustion overtaking her.

Adara was being shaken, her shoulders in pain as the elder tried to hammer in his point.

"Listen to me, Adara, those things shouldn't exist," said a blind man, his pointy ears protruding from his head, "they may take an interest in you for whatever reason, but they will get bored!"

Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to fall.

"the only way to survive is to hide, hide your emotions, don't let any feelings show what so ever, or you will die!" The man continued, his green eyes sparkling with a piercing will.

"Become a tool for it, nothing more, Understood?"

She felt myself nodding, not quite understanding why. Not quite sure she needed to.
