Chapter 4 - The Gamer

"Hey, Don't ignore me! You have to show me how to do all that magic stuff I was told about, what kinda tutorial is this!" Claimed the man, seemingly annoyed about Adaras unhelpfulness.

Feeling a pang of anger, Adara fought hard not to berate the man, instead choosing to explain to him like he was a child.

"Look, stranger, you are in the domain of Hypnos, one of the 30 evils, and the most solitary of them all, you could be killed just for being here. So I advise you to stay close to me in hopes that the creatures that live here recognise my lord's scent on me."

Ah, Adara realised that she probably shouldn't of suggested this weirdo follow her, in fact, that was probably the last thing she should of done.

As she was about to retract her offer, ignoring the guilt of abandoning him, the man got excited, "Nice the main quest is starting! So what's the plan sis? We going to go fight a dragon or something?"

"No, we are most definitely not fighting a dragon, as even a weaker one would kill us,"

Said Adara, hoping that the man is smarter than he seems, challenging a dragon, how ridiculous.

"I am on my way to Corcilus in hopes of procuring an item for my lord. I will take you there, and then we will separate, understood?"

"Sure, sure, by the way, how do I do magic, because I made sure to invest points into star magic, it looked kinda cool."

"Don't be stupid, star magic is about predicting the future, it's for nobles and doctors, and judging from that blade on your hip, a soldier like you wouldn't know it."

And Adara was right, there was indeed a long curved saber resting in it's sheeth, clear evidence that the man belonged to the iron march, a large army sent in a desperate attempt to retake the northern continent from the 30 evils, although, they had all been supposedly wiped out long before reaching as far as these woods.

"Right, I picked deserter as my background, but I made sure to put points in faith so I could do star magic," reaffirmed the man, his grey eyes wide, like a child was in his body. "But it's only prophecies and stuff? I knew I should of read a guide first"

The man shook his head seemingly disappointed with himself. Before shrugging it off, no longer disappointed.

Adara, watching the display, attempted to help him, "you should toss that sword before we enter Corcilus, Eris, the ruler of that dreadful city, is still holding a grudge against your revolution,"

The man waved his hand, dismissively, "yeah, yeah, I'll do it later, but it's cool, so I'll hold onto it for now, anyway, tell me about some lore, oh wise one, what's up with this place, where are all the towns?" The man raised his hands in a praying gesture as he called me a wise one, seemingly mocking adara.

"Have you perhaps lost your memory, this continent has faced many a trials during the war, there isn't much civilisation left, the only mortals permitted to live are the ones forced to swear fealty," Adara explain calmly, upon knowing this man's origins, she now feels that she was perhaps rude, his mind was probably broken upon seeing the horrors that are the 30 evils.

He nodded, gaining some source of clarity, before moving his hands around in a series of swiping gestures, then mumbling to himself about exp and stat points for the remainder of the hour, adara focused on reciting a quick protective mantra in case he tried anything, and then went to sleep.
