I was still reeling from the realization that Edward Cullen was the CEO of Daniel's company.
He was the owner. I was yelling at the owner of a billion dollar company.
Fuck!
I felt a hand on my shoulder and immediately knew it was Daniel.
He turned me around and started yelling.
"Bella. What the fuck are you doing here? And why are you dressed in a t-shirt and boxers? And you smell like alcohol. Seriously, what the hell is going on with you?" He asked.
Tears formed in my eyes. I was shaking.
Literally shaking.
All my confidence seemed to have flown out the window, when I saw Daniel.
I still loved him. I loved him so much.
"I needed your help." I whispered.
"With what? Do you know that everyone is looking at us?" He asked.
"I needed your key. You know, for the apartment." I said.
Daniel stared at me.
"How could you come to my office and do this? Everyone is looking at us. Do you know what they will think? What the boss will think? What if I get fired?" He yelled at me.
I didn't care. I just wanted the keys.
"Please just give me the keys. I will leave right away. You won't even notice I was here." I said.
"Yeah. Because you look invisible." Daniel said, rolling his eyes.
I didn't say anything.
I just stretched my hand and waited.
"No." Daniel said.
"No? What do you mean, no?" I asked.
"Bella. What did you expect would happen? Do you think I am just going to give you the keys and let you walk out of here. After the embarrassment you caused?" He asked. "No. I am not giving you. You don't deserve to go back to the apartment. I never want to see you again."
"You're an asshole." I yelled.
"Well, I regret dating you, Bella. You know, all my friends were against this. They told me you were no good. But, no, I had to listen to my heart. You have made a fool out of me. I can't believe I wasted five years on you. You have ruined my life. You are worthless." He said.
"That's not true, Daniel." I yelled.
"You love me. You promised me that you will love me forever. I don't know why you changed when we moved to New York. I am sure that your slut co-worker brainwashed you. You love me Daniel." I cried.
My heart stopped.
Tears fell from my eyes.
How could he be saying this to me?
Was he actually serious?
"I don't love you, Bella. I only pitied you. That's right, maybe at the beginning I had a little feeling for you. But after that, it was pure pity. You were always alone. Like a lot puppy. It was pathetic and miserable. I don't want to be with you anymore. I never want to see you again." He yelled.
"Daniel, please." I pleaded. I held unto him and cried.
"No. Just leave." He said, pushing me away from him.
I felt so humiliated and embarrassed.
I turned to go. My feet dragged along the floor as I walked away.
Daniel wasn't going to help me.
That meant, I had no place to go. I had no home.
"Wait!" I heard Edward say.
I looked up. Edward walked towards me. His steps were precise, like a predator.
"Mr Edward… She is my ex-girlfriend. I am sorry. I didn't know she would show up here." Daniel said.
Edward ignored Daniel. He stopped when he was right in front of me.
"You're not going anywhere." He said to me.
"What?" I asked between sobs.
"I said, you are not going anywhere. Come on. Follow me." He said.
He turned and walked towards the elevator.
I was still crying and didn't move.
I was too afraid to move.
"Are you deaf or something? I said, follow me." He barked.
I shuddered.
I had no choice.
So, I followed him.
He stepped inside the elevator and pressed the button.
We didn't say anything.
When the elevator stopped, he took my hand and pulled me out.
My heart started pounding.
Where was he taking me?
Ever since I learnt that Edward Cullen was the freaking CEO, I was scared.
Edward was the CEO of Daniel's company. That means he was rich. He was bloody rich.
Daniel worked in 'Veda Corp.'
Verda Corp was the number one company technological innovation company in New York City.
Verda Corp was known for its state of the art technology, software, and products. It was literally a gold mine.
The fact that Edward was the CEO and also the owner, meant he was a billionaire.
Billionaire!
That means Edward was a powerful man.
I had slapped him at the bar, thrown up on him… thrown up on his car.
I had yelled at him.
I had embarrassed him in front of his staff.
There was no telling what he was going to do.
I had literally pissed off one of the most powerful men in New York City.
My life was officially over.
Edward took me to the front of the building and patiently waited.
Soon a sleek black Audi appeared.
He opened the door and pushed me inside.
I sat in the passenger seat and tried to calm my nerves.
The way my heart was beating, I thought it would fall out of my chest.
"Drive her to the hotel. Make sure she is well taken care of." Edward said to the driver before slamming the door in my face.
The driver nodded and pulled the car out of the parking lot.
I sat, staring out the window.
Edward was still standing at the curb, watching the car drive away.
He had an unreadable expression on his face.
It was a little scary.
Why did he do that?
What was his plan?
What was going to happen in the hotel?
A million questions ran through my head.
