It was 12pm and I was still sitting in the hallway, in front of my apartment.
I hadn't moved from the spot.
I had been there for four hours.
Four freaking hours!
I chewed down on my nails. My phone was dead. My stomach was growling.
I was hungry. So freaking hungry.
But there was nothing I could do.
I had no money. I had no food. I had no keys.
I needed to do something.
Daniel's office wasn't that far from where I lived. Maybe he would help me.
At least give me his keys. It's the least he could do after cheating on me.
I stood up and sighed. Okay, this was it.
I was going to walk to Daniel's office. Get his keys and leave.
Easy, right?
****************************************
The hot sun was shining and my skin was burning.
I couldn't believe how hot it was outside.
It was the middle of December.
How the hell was the sun burning like this?
This was not normal. My legs were killing me. I have been walking for what felt like forever.
Where was his office?
It was not far from my house.
How could it take this long to get there?
I wiped the sweat off my forehead. I was still wearing the white shirt and the boxers.
And even though they were huge on me, the weather made me feel like I was being cooked alive.
The people on the street were looking at me weirdly. I'm sure they were wondering what the fuck was wrong with me.
I couldn't blame them. I would too.
The boxers were starting to ride up, which was so uncomfortable. And the shirt was sticking to my skin.
I was a sweaty mess. This was a disaster.
I was walking to a man, who cheated on me, and I looked like a crazy woman.
This was going to end badly.
But I had no other choice.
I needed to get back to my apartment and get the hell out of there.
If I ever saw that Edward guy, I was going to punch him right in his fucking face.
If he hadn't been such an asshole, none of this would have happened.
"Ugh." I groaned. I was getting tired of this shit.
Suddenly, the familiar building appeared in front of me.
Oh, Thank God.
I ran as fast as I could and entered the building.
The air-conditioner was making me feel better already.
I took a deep breath and walked over to the security.
The old man, who worked there, looked up at me.
"Aren't you the lady who sat outside the building, waiting for her boyfriend, yesterday? The one who was crying and asked me to take her to a bar." The old man asked.
"Yes. That's me." I replied.
The man laughed.
"So, did you have a good time?" He asked.
"No." I said.
"I can see that. You look worse than yesterday." He said, smiling.
"Can you please just tell me what floor Daniel works on. I need his keys." I asked.
"Oh, so, you are going to visit him. Isn't he cheating on you?" He asked.
"Yes, he is. And, no, I am not visiting him. I just need his keys." I said.
The man shook his head.
"Okay. He's on the 13th floor. Take the elevator. His office is the last door on the left. Good luck." He said.
I gave the man a tight smile and walked to the elevator.
Thank God, it was empty.
I didn't want to explain myself to anyone.
The second the elevator stopped on the 31st floor, I walked out.
The top floor was quiet. There was nobody around.
Nobody but a blonde lady, sitting at the front desk.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
I stared at her.
"I'm looking for Daniel. Daniel Smith." I said while resting my hands on the counter.
The woman gave a nasty stare and pushed my hands away.
"Get your hands off my desk. And also Daniel Smith is on the 13th floor, this is the 31st floor. You are not supposed to be here." She said.
I hit my forehead with my palm. I had gotten the numbers mixed up.
"What the hell was wrong with the people in this place? How many floors did this company have?" I thought to myself.
I mean, it was very huge from the outside.
But seriously.
"Thank you." I said. "But you didn't have to be so rude about it."
"You can go now." She said, shooing me.
"You are such a bitch." I muttered under my breath.
She must have heard me, because her face turned red.
"Why don't you get your head checked. You seem to be having some problems. I mean you literally look like a mess." She yelled.
I turned and gave her the middle finger. I wasn't in the mood to let anyone walk over me.
I was about to turn back to the elevator, when I accidentally bumped into someone.
Hot coffee spilled all over me.
And that's when I lost it.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me! Are you serious?" I yelled.
The hot coffee stung. I was literally on fire.
I looked up at the person who had done this atrocity, when I realized it was hI'm.
Yes…
HIM.
How can I forget those piercing blue eyes? How could I forget the main reason I was in this mess? How could I forget, Edward Cullen.
He was standing in front of me, looking like a fucking god, in a grey suit, staring at me like he couldn't believe I had the guts to yell at him.
"You!!!!!" I screamed as I pointed my finger at him.
His eyes grew wide.
"You. You're the girl that threw up on me." He said.
I ignored him.
"Do you know what I have been through because of you?" I yelled.
Edward looked confused.
"Do I know you? Why are you here?" He asked.
"I came here to look for my boyfriend!!!" I yelled, for no apparent reason.
Why was I yelling?
It wasn't going to help the situation.
"Your boyfriend? You mean the one that cheated on you and made you drink and cry until you passed out?" He asked, laughing.
He was enjoying this.
I knew he was.
The jerk!
"That is not the point. Do you realize how bad my life is right now because of you?" I asked. "Where is my bag? Where is my key? Where are my clothes?"
"Whoa, whoa. Slow down." He said. "We are in an office building. We can talk like civilized people. Now, lower your voice."
"Oh, really. You think I give a damn about being in an office. Well, you can go fuck yourself. Where is my bag?" I yelled.
I was about to yell again when the receptionist cleared her throat.
"Ummm… I have sent for Daniel. He should be here any second now." She said.
I turned and looked at her.
"Why did you call him?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes.
"Because I have no idea what you are doing here, or who you are, and you are literally shouting at the CEO of the company. What did you expect me to do? I called security and your boyfriend." She said.
"CEO? This guy is the CEO of the company?" I asked.
The receptionist nodded.
I froze.
I literally froze at the spot.
I was standing in front of the CEO of the company.
I was yelling at the CEO of the company.
I had thrown up on the CEO of the company.
How did I end up in this situation?
