Chapter 26 - Volume 2. Chapter 1

After some time, the tension did not subside.

So I decided to return to the roof, after staying there for several hours, I arrived at that very village.

Surprisingly, it looked good, there is a fence and a kind of security tower, even a river nearby. Maybe someday I'll settle in here, it's quite a pleasant atmosphere.

And as soon as we arrived, two armed men approached us.

The guard: - Everyone…

A guard in chain mail and a cheap helmet looked from the cabman to me.

The guard: - Everyone get out... from the cart.

I understand him a little, I guess I look unusual for them. Well, yes, it's not every day you meet a person who likes to read a book on the road, and in the fresh air.

Making a dash, I jumped off a step away from him, and taking my hand out from under my cloak, I put the adventurer's card to his face.

At first, the guard seemed to realize with a delay what had happened and recoiled, and therefore bent down and began to examine the contents of my hands.

And after he ran his eyes over it, he said irritably.

The guard: - Welcome.

Work hard! No one likes sour faces. Learn from your assistant eventually.

After all, his colleague stood calmly, as if nothing had happened, exactly, motionless, on his... yeah ... he just fell asleep.

Incompetents.

When I entered the village, I finally realized that it was a well-equipped village, and quite peaceful at that. You could say it's even too peaceful. There is no one who has even a semblance of armor or weapons, that is, no guards, no adventurers, no squad.

Which is strange enough, like a remote village near a forest.

Walking through the streets, I came across the sign of the "butcher shop".

I think this place would be perfect.

Opening the creaking door, I entered a wooden house, inside it was humid, but at the same time musty air with the smell of meat and blood.

Butcher: - Welcome to my shop, adventurer? Are you selling the loot? I just finished with the previous one!

There was meat on the counter, it's amazing that monsters have veins and blood of unusual colors, but often the meat is red.

Having laid out my goods on the counter, I walked away slightly, waiting for the butcher to calculate how much money he owes me. At first glance, the shop seems to be in perfect condition, but looking closely, here and there you can see scratches apparently from claws, scattered pieces of bones here and there, and eyes rolling on the shelves. There was an ingrained puddle of various kinds of blood under the counter itself.

It looks like he's butchering carcasses right here.

On the one hand, a neat shop, on the other – a torture room.

Butcher: - Take your pay.

- Yeah... judging by your store, there are a lot of hunters. Where are they?

Butcher: - Are you passing through here? There is a rumor that a monster has strayed here alone, which should not be in our area at all. As you understand, it will be in price here.

- Yes, just passing through. Is there a blacksmith here?

Butcher: - Well, not in my store. But if you walk further down this street and immediately turn left, you will come across a blacksmith shop.

After counting the money on the go, I went to a local artisan to buy goods for alchemy. Some tools, flasks and metal dust that I almost forgot. Actually, a useful ingredient is true only if used with slug acid.

While the blacksmith was blowing out the flasks, I finished reading the spell notes.

And having received the order, I wandered into the forest in anticipation. There had to be a victim here to test the shadow spear, the next stage of the shadow bullet.

But, I didn't take into account something. Now there are a lot of hunters roaming around the forest, it seems, cutting out everything that gets in their way. After all, in the whole forest, not even a single bird can be heard singing.

Well, what can I do. Suddenly, some stupid... villain will point his weapon at me.

Using the gaze of the undead, and immediately after summoning the skeleton, I began to comb the forest so as not to miss a single living creature.
