Chapter 10 - sector lords decision

In the wilderness, a group of eight was moving in a formation, that would allow them to have sight in all directions.

The eight kept shifting positions from time to time. It had been two hours since the moment they left the train.

"Let's rest up ahead for half an hour!" Emily said as she looked at the haggard-looking women in the team.

They were even dragging their legs forty minutes back, and despite seeing this, Li Jun just overlooked it. It was not in his place to say something, after all, they had barely covered enough ground.

For the group to cover half of the distance, it would be about three hours. In the moment they had yet to reach this goal, but Emily could not be heartless to let the teammates suffer.

Hearing this, they were motivated, and even the looks on their faces were lightly spirited.

"Sister Emily! Why not just stop here? It does not matter where we stop as long as there is no danger right? "

One of the sisters finally spoke, she seemed aggrieved and wanted Emily to take pity on her, but before anything else could be said, Li Jun's voice sounded, " Either we reach the place she designated for rest, or just keep moving. I think we should be able to hold on for another hour, isn't that a good compromise!"

When the woman heard Li Jun speak like this, she was about to erupt. Thankfully her sister was present and rushed in to de-escalate the situation.

"Cai'er how about we just go along with the plan by sister Emily," Fei spoke in a lovely voice, but when Li Jun looked at her, he was able to see through her instantly.

He murmured to himself, "What a waste of a good voice."

Even though the others could not hear him, Emily who was close managed to hear it and almost wanted to laugh out loud.

Even though Fei seemed to have calmed down the tension, Li Jun did not have a good impression of the three.

Di! Di! ...

When the group kept moving forward, Li Jun's phone vibrated someone was contacting him, but he ignored it.

In this environment it was bad enough to survive, if he started to take calls it would just be considered careless.

More than just that, he was still going to take a rest, and as such he would not miss out on the chance. With this thought in the head, he suppressed the desire to pick up his communication with the device.

None one said anything anymore and they kept moving forward in a silent acward manner.

When they reached the destination of rest, Li Jun turned to Emily and said, "I should go and relieve myself!"

This exercise excise, buexcisedid not matter, everyone was free to relax for a moment.

When the three women were left alone, Cai'er asked, "Sister Fei, why did you stop me from teaching that rude boy a lesson?"

Instead of answering her, Fei said, "Look around! Where do you think we are?"

Listening to the question, the other two girls looked around and did not gain any sense of realization yet, this had to make Fei explain herself.

"We are in the wild. In this place we need this person to be able to survive. The three of us are just women, and can't be said to be as calm as Emily. It is in our interest to try and get along with her, after all the three of them seem to be friends." Fei spoke again.

Listening to this, the other two had different thoughts, but Cai'er had other thoughts in mind. "How about we win over the last young man then? He is not thet close work them, and might be able to join our side."

Cai'er said with some excitement, but Fei was silent, while the shy girl asked, "Get him to join our side for what?"

Right! This was not something that Cai'er had thought through. Perhaps in her mind, it sounded great to have numbers, but she had overlooked the most important part, what was the purpose.

It was not to fight, they were going to be together for less than a day, and it was stupid to go around asking others to form a side. What value would it have to them?

It seemed that she was just vengeful, and not thinking straight, but Fei did not say anything to dissuade her.

Only she knew what she was thinking in her head. But even so, she was more interested in how things would go down with the recruitment of Mam Li Jun had been termed as having a high mental state.

The team had been moving for two hours without getting exhausted, this was normal, after all their physiques were very different from the time before the virus.

Even those who were whining secretly, making Emily decide to give everyone time to rest, had the strength of two adults from before the era of the virus. The only problem was that this kind of strength had no real ability to fight the existing monsters in the wild.

The same is why most of the land had already turned back into forests and grasslands. Humans had to settle in the few sectors formed in the world.

Things such as transport also only connect the small supply points and training zones. When it came to the real wilderness zones occupied by the strong monsters, one could only approach them by foot.

This is also the reason that the most simple requirement was to have the combat strength of the shackle-breaking experts before entering the wilderness. In cases of training, the wilds controlled by the existing Sectors could do, after all some monsters present there are just right for this.

This place they were in was among such zones, and this still did not make Li Jun relaxed even after knowing it because some anomalies usually happened. That is beast attacks, mostly in the form of tides. This can be through the skies or even land, and when such a situation arises, even mortals like them might not survive with all the luck in the world.

In the sky, two figures were observing the development, and one of them asked, "All the students that are trying to get themselves into the extraordinary institutes seem to be tested differently this year, can anyone tell me why?"

On the man's wrist, a small projection could be seen, and other vague figures could be seen.

One of them said, "Do you think it is excessive?"

But another still replied, "I have always thought that these kids are unaware of the real world, living under the protection of the sector lords. This time, it should be able to reduce most of that trash without balls. Such people are the problem that eventually ends up betraying humanity."

The statement made the figure in the sky slightly embarrassed, but another one still interfered and said, "Children are children regardless of what you say. Even though this can allow them to make their minds clear from the illusion of having a dazzling life, most of them might lose their lives. After all, unless the emergency arises, we are instructed to not interfere. Hope everyone can remember, after all choosing our path is already making a choice."

This voice made most of the individuals silent. Most really did not care much about the life and death of the young generation, as long as it was not such a large loss.

From their conversation, it turned out that all the Sectors were doing the same thing. This was like some kind of initiation into the real world of practitioners.

When the discussion ended, the figures in the sky around the train stopped paying attention to the students. It was not their responsibility to save them unless an emergency had arisen. This was something they were confused about and did nothing about. The sector lords have a reason for coming up with such decisions.

It is said that the sector lords are very old, and individuals that fought to reclaim the land from the monsters when civilization collapsed using their own hands. Some rumors even claim all of them went with the ancient martial arts, and had some background in that area already.

This was not known to many, rather it was something Li Jun heard in his previous timeline as a rumor. When he was reborn, he did not just think of training in martial arts from nowhere.

The sector lords were considered strong, but there had to be a strong existence in their era to make them willing to stay in their sectors. He had speculated that such a figure was why the world was not invaded, instead, o watched from the staty skies.

Perhaps those terrifying eyes were waiting for that person to leave before they took action.

*******

On the ground, Li Jun called back the number that was contacting him nonstop. He had some hesitation before picking up the phone for another reason.

But now he did not hesitate anymore.

Hello! Mom!"
