Radius Lucis!" He shouted as he aimed his staff on a portrait.
"Radius Lucis!" "Radius Lucis!" "Radius Lucis!" He shouted again and again until the portrait was no longer a portrait.
His breathing, getting louder and heavier as time passes by.
A sigh escapes from his mouth. "I still can't get over my defeat." He said as he slowly started to loosen up.
"The Little Gang Killer.." He looked at another portrait of him.
"Since his first appearance, nobody has been able to find out who is under his purple cloak.."
"I'll be the first one to discover who he is, I'll make sure of it." He turned around, leaving the room.
...
"–To put it simply, your mana count is the amount of mana that can defend the brain and the body from magic taking over." Ms. Ardell pointed out to the drawing of a human in the chalkboard.
"Think of your mana count as soldiers and magic as enemy soldiers in battle, we lose thousands of mana for casting a spell, every time we cast a spell, the enemy magic makes a breakthrough and kills thousands of mana soldiers in battle."
"Now, you might be wondering why I'm telling you this basic information that you heard a lot of times." She said as she switched blackboards. "Because the tournament is near, I want all of you to learn the basics once more. One can learn the most advanced and disregard the basics as time goes on, I've faced it before."
"Starting this week, our primary focus will be in practicing for the tournament." She switched to yet another chalkboard.
"Every Nerus (Friday), we'll be sparring with each other, you can use magic or not, your choice."
"That concludes our class, I'll see you tomorrow." As she opens the door, she stops and looks at all of the students in the room. "Don't forget to pray to your Magic Gods." She leaves the classroom.
"Nerus is tomorrow.. I don't wanna spar though." said Sévir.
"Well what will you do then? Skip Ms. Ardell's class?" said Minerva.
He suddenly stood up. "You know what? That's a great idea! I'll mess around to find out what she does." He grinned in an evil way, hurriedly leaving the classroom after."
"Sévircon, what's with him today?" Minerva asks Sanguinex.
"Gros-whatever-your-name-is, I don't think I know." She replied.
...
The whole class arrives to Stadium #2, all of them sitting down in the auditorium.
"Have you decided what to use?" Sévir asks.
"Give me fire." Sanguinex replied as she sat down beside Sévir. "We're at a higher row, nobody will see us."
Sévir nodded, he placed his hand in Sanguinex's back and whispered: "Aprins Tura."
She flinched as he casted the spell, letting out a sigh afterwards. "You could've put your hand under my shirt, now my shirt is burned." She placed her hand in the burned spot as she tried feeling it.
"My bad. Just cover it with your jacket." Sévir crossed his arms.
"Anyway, do you have any orders while I spar?"
"Use Conductor Style and hold back as much as possible." He hands her a wand.
"Eh? That's no fun!" She pouted as she took the wand from his hands.
"I know, but I don't want everyone having their eyes on you, asking you all the time how your magic is so powerful.. And stuff."
She perks up as she leans towards him. "Ooh? You don't want everyone having their eyes on me? Are you going to be jealous if they do?~"
"That's.. Not it, that's obviously not it." He looked away with a scornful face as she chuckled.
"Alright, alright. By the way, how did Ms. Ardell get you here?"
"I'd rather not talk about it." He frowned when he answered.
"Hehe.. Alright. I'll be going then." She stood up, walking to the lower rows to talk to her friends.
Time passes by as the students spar with each other, one by one, Minerva's turn has ended a while ago in her victory, just a few more turns until it's Sanguinex's, and soon Sévir's.
Eventually, her turn arrives, she jumps down from the auditorium to the arena.
The spar begins, Sanguinex aims her wand at her opponent as she shouted: "Globus Ahi!".
A ball of fire forms in front of her wand, speeding towards her opponent.
The opponent shouted "Udo Sciana!", water rose from the ground, forming a wall and blocking the ball of fire.
This sucks! He would've been done by now if Sévir told me to use source style.. What the hell was he thinking!? She clicked her tongue as she ran around, dodging her opponents' attacks.
The problem is his water magic can quickly extinguish my fire.. What am I supposed to do then? As she ran around for a while, barely dodging her opponents' attacks, it clicked.
Oh.. It doesn't matter if I'm a conductor. or what.. I just have to end this quickly that way!
She stopped running forwards, instead running backwards.
What the hell is she doing? Her opponent wondered, but waved it off as he continued attacking her with his spells.
As she cancelled his attacks with fireballs, she started sprinting as fast as she can, aiming her wand at her opponent. "Aprins Sciana!" She shouted as she swiped her wand in a circle, a wall of fire rose up as it suddenly surrounded her opponent.
Her opponent darted his eyes left and right, waiting for Sanguinex to strike. Where is she going to strike now? I'm betting it all that she's going to strike with her spells, this wall of fire is hot and thick enough to burn her if she charges in-
"Aprins Hajt!" Sanguinex shouted as a large amount of fire shoots out her wand to the ground, propelling her fast enough to not get affected by the fire wall.
Her opponent recoils back. WHAT!? He aimed his hand on her head but he was too late, she dealt him a punch that knocked him to the ground.
As she knocked him to the ground, the fire wall goes away and everyone is presented a view of Sanguinex aiming her wand in her opponents' neck, claiming the victory.
The whole class applauded, she stood up with a smug look on her face, walking towards the wall to climb back up to the auditorium.
It's my turn. I've decided what magic and style to use now. Sévir prepared his weapon of choice, waiting to be called.
"Alright, last one.. Sévir van Doren and Percival Galath!" Ms. Ardell called out their names, they quickly stood up and jumped down to the arena, walking to their opposite sides.
"Hey, who do you think will win?" A student who we'll call "Student One" asked her friends.
"I'm betting on Percival! He's the second best in this class, just behind Ms. Grosvenor." Student Three replied.
"I don't know, there's too much unknowns about our Pariah Prince.. What if he's actually insanely strong to the point he can destroy this world with just one spell but he's just hiding it?" Student Two replied with worry in his voice.
"That's a little.. Too much. There's no way he's that strong! I don't know about you, but he gives off a weak aura to me, so he has to be pretty weak." Student Three chuckled as she patted Student Two's back.
Between them, Ms. Ardell stood with her right hand raised.
"I'm beginning the countdown!" She shouted as loud as possible.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"BEGIN!" She put her hand down as she ran away from the middle. The match has begun.
