Chapter 26 - Ulterior Motives

"Alright," Regina said. Then she devoted her full and utmost attention back to her needlework.

Flower stared at Regina. Her eyes trailed what Regina was doing devotedly. She knew that Regina was knitting since she was making use of two knitting needles and two balls of yarns. However what she didn't know was how to knit or how to even hold those knitting needles talkless of making embroideries with them beautifully, just like Regina was doing presently.

Back when Flower was still in college, back in Florida, Tallahassee. The teachers there has once thought them the components and basics of knitting. Including the instruments that are needed for knitting an embroidery and decorating them. However back then Flower didn't really find knitting quite impressive or even fascinating. She had only wished to become a wildlife reporter and nothing more than that, and she was obliqued to follow her wishes and damn straight she did.

Now, observing Regina's knitting abilities, Flower felt a little more interested in knitting. The teachers at her college had made knitting absolutely boring to her back then, since the teachers only indulge them in an elongated, tiresome and boring explanation with no practical of any kind. It would have been more fascinating to her if the teacher had made it exciting for them. Anyways, one shouldn't really expect too much from teachers. They can only teach you knowledge and you yourself will have to create it for yourself.

Meanwhile…

From the corner of Regina's eyesight she had been observing Flower. She vividly could see that Flower has been staring at her needlework for some minutes now without yielding or moving from the spot. Although Regina find knitting very absorbing and interesting, she didn't know that someone as fancy as Flower would ever find knitting interesting. Young ladies like her were always more interested in being social media personnels and boutique owners, so seeing that Flower was showcasing some minimal portion of interest in knitting made Regina slightly stunned.

More moments later, Regina still noticed that Flower was staring at her. She smiled. Without looking at Flower she spoke; "Young Lady, you seem to be quite interested in knitting. I noticed that you've been staring at my needlework for awhile now."

Knowing that what Regina was accusing her of was true. Flower smiled back awkwardly and looked down to her white and thin barefeets. She adjusted herself on the bed and bite her lips with fragility. She did this because she didn't know exactly how to respond to Regina's accusations, and because she had been caught red-handed.

"You don't need to be embarrassed," Regina said. Finally she uplifted her head and look forward at Flower who was staring at her barefeets while assuming a sitting position on her bed.

With Regina's words that clearly stated that she shouldn't be embarrassed, Flower instantaneously began to feel embarrassed after hearing that. She didn't really know why, but she was.

"Do you want me to teach you how to knit?" Regina asked, "I can teach you if you like. I don't mind. It's a very simple handicraft. All you just have to do is to be patient with it and you will end up making magic with the yarns."

Flower knew she really wanted to learn this, it was abundantly tempting. Nevertheless, she was planning to escape from here somewhere between today and tomorrow, so therefore, getting herself indulge in things like this would only manipulate distractions for her and lure her away from her fugitives planning. Thus, no, she wasn't going to accept wasting her whole efforts on unnecessary things like knitting, she possessed other important task to amalgamate herself with.

Even so, Flower wasn't going to refuse, she had the perfect reply to it. Flower slothfully uplifted her head. Giving an heartwarming smile, she spoke;

"I'll think about it."

Shortly after saying that, she added hastily. "I'll go and take my bath now. In that way I'll quickly have my medicine too and eat."

"Alright," Regina said. Even before she reply, Flower had already prompted herself away from the bed and off towards the bathroom door to take an exquisite shower before she firmed her plans to escape by taking the advantage of Anthony's absence.

Before Flower could enter into the bathroom, "I'll go and get you breakfast," Regina quickly said. And as soon as that was said, Flower entered the bathroom, since Regina wasn't really asking a question which she was supposed to reply to, she didn't really find it important to respond.

Flower entered into the bathroom. With every minutes that passed by, she could feel that her throat was getting more better and the pain was lessening. She didn't know what Anthony had done that made it be like so, however she was still baffled by it.

Soon enough. Flower was done cleaning up, so therefore she came out of the bathroom with a white towel wrapped around her frail body. She could see that Regina hadn't arrived from the kitchen yet. Flower's first place to search when trying to see if Regina was back in the room was the fluffy sofa, this was Regina's favourite place to sit. It was as though the chair was special created for her and only her buttocks. Whenever Flower wanted to remember something about Regina, she can only do so by imagining the sofa and Regina sitting firmly on it.

Flower cleaned herself up promptly with agility and picked some clothes to wear. She was being choosey about the clothes since she was sure that she was going to come up with an escape plan, thus, if she wanted to survive in the bone-chilling wild, her outfit had to contain hoodies or sweaters. If not, then she might prolly die of coldness before finding any help from nearby and her efforts to escape would go to waste. And death shouldn't be her reward for trying to escape, it should be survival. Hopefully, heavens will see her efforts and support her in her battle for freedom, nevertheless, it might not go that way too.

Flower went into the bathroom to get dressed. She was dressed in a palazzo trouser which was designed with flowers, likewise her upper outfit too. Both the upper and the lower outfit were coalesced with the same flowery designs and afterwards she wore an hoodie atop the upper outfit which she had wore beforehand due to the weather which was as cold as a well-digger's arse. For some reasons snowing never seem to lessen in Alaska, half of the climate change in Alaska was mainly snow, snow and lots of snow.

Well, this definitely appears like the reason why Flower, Julius and Amanda were given this type of project and with a lot of money as its gain. Those who were responsible for giving the trio the project probably knew that not much people would be willing to accommodate the project with open arms, since not many people like living in a very cold and snowy area. So therefore, the amount of money which was offered to Flower, Julius and Amanda was abundant because they were the only ones who were willing to accommodate the project after the people who were responsible for the project have already received uncountable turndowns about the project. Mainly because it was too wintery over there.

Flower came out of the bathroom. She shut the door right away after doing so, she then looked further into the room after catching glimpses of someone else in the room. As usual it was Regina the housekeeper, possessively claiming a spot for herself on the sofa in Flower's room. She had already resumed her needlework and was now knitting away with no stress whatsoever.

Flower couldn't tell what Regina was knitting yet. Only the outline were still visible, and the outlines only, can't create awareness for someone about what is being knitted by Regina. All Flower knew was that, it was either a cap, a purse, or a sweater. She also knew that what Regina was knitting must be really beautiful after being done, because Flower had heard from people older than her that old people tends to knit the most beautiful embroidery. Plus, Flower had already seen with her own eyes that Regina was abundantly skillful with the knitting needles, thus, she should be expecting something totally breathtaking after the knitting is completed.

Notwithstanding, Flower decided to shift all her thoughts aside. Realizing that she was going to try and escape, and if that goes as planned without any obstruction, she wouldn't be able to end up getting to see what handicraft Regina was hoping to create. So therefore, she shouldn't care about it.

Flower was planning to escape because she knew that it is better to die trying, than to not try at all. This was a motto which her dad had trained her and Amanda up with before he died.

Remembering her father's death was always entirely painful to Flower. Thus promptly, she ambulated away from the bathroom entrance and walked towards the table where Regina had already embellished her morning meal for her. Flower smirked, a little saddened, realizing that she wouldn't be able to ever get some taste of Regina's esculent cookings after she escaped.

But then again, the compensation for that to Flower was that she would get to see her affectionate and loving mother once again. This was enough for Flower, she doesn't need anything more as long as she could curl up in her mum's arms like a baby.

This lead Flower into wondering if Mrs Thompson would have found out about their deaths. She must have probably think that they're all dead. Or that they were still busy with work and this was why they haven't called yet. Poor woman will be miserably shocked after hearing such horrible news. Additionally, no one would be there to comfort her and there would be no shoulders for her to cry upon.

'I have to get home as soon as possible!'

'Mum must have been worried sick about us,' she thought and with that thought, Flower felt abundant confident and determination growing in her. She was presently showcasing more passion and unending will about escaping from this prison yard and into the real deal.

Flower sighed.

Placing the tray of food on her laps, Flower began to devour the esculent meal of fried chickens, baked potatoes, bread and mango juice. The mango juice tasted fresh, I didn't taste as though it had been stored in the fridge for a very long time. Which means, there must be a store nearby where Regina gets all this stuff from.

And surely, Regina definitely can't be the only customer which will be patronizing the salesman or saleswoman. Thus, their must be other people in this wildlife reserve somewhere. Flower knew that if she was agile enough to walk fast and faraway from here, then she would find help against all odds.

Flower took in her medicine whilst eating. In that way it wouldn't be too bittersome and the taste of the bitter but helpful medicine would vanish with immediate alacrity from her pink tongue.

Jolting Flower amidst enjoying her meal, Regina spoke;

"Young Lady. I hope you're enjoying your meal?"

And with a mouthful, Flower replied, "Sure, I am."

"Slow… slowly. Don't choke. Your throat is just starting to heal and if you're to rush your food it would only deteriorate the condition of your throat,"Regina stated worriedly. "Slow down, Young Lady."

Flower swallowed and gulped down some mango juice. She sighed, then she nodded to Regina's words like a dumbo.

Regina smiled. Then she focused all her due attention to her needlework, while Flower proceeded to eat more and more since she needed all the energy she could get by eating, in that way she would be able to think straight. As it is, one must always obey food cravings before work doings. It would only make sense that way.
