Chapter 31 - Lady of the Forest

Flower pallidly uplifted her head. Then various whimperings and gruntings followed suit. Her delicate body which had been tossed down the hill slope like a pile of poop was accurately overwhelming her with anguish as it had already began to testify to the agonizing sensation of pain. If all this could happen just by stepping away from the mansion, who knows what might be installed for her up ahead?

Flower squinted her eyebrows. Showcasing a trivial WiFi forehead whilst acknowledging the pain unwillingly. She winced and almost began to tear up, but then she hasten herself to pause her tears. So, no, she wasn't going to cry. Flower clenched her sprained ankle whilst assuming a sitting position on the snow with a backpack on her back. She was wearing a brown sandal, sadly, it had cut off from the savage tumbling. The sandal was supposedly expensive, and now it had cut off from just a fall, total rip off! Well since it's not Flower's money, thus it didn't matter.

All that matters now and all that was manipulating extreme disappointment in her was that she wouldn't be able to walk with a sprained ankle. Additionally, her sandal had cut off, thus, she wouldn't be able to walk on an abundantly cold surface of snow without getting cramps and sore feet.

"Darn it! Darn it!" she whispered.

'What am I going to do about this now? Oh heavens!'

'Soon the housekeeper will notice that I'm gone. I simply can't wait here any longer. It would only put my plans in jeopardy.'

With that thought, Flower promptly lifted herself up from the snow filled ground, which was occupied with coldness. She knew that she couldn't waste anymore time here or else her greatest fear might eventuate into reality. It would be such a pain in the ass if any of them spotted her. And the beautiful young lady couldn't afford that.

Thus, Flower got up firmly and balanced herself on one foot attempting a locomotion by mustering all the potential strength she had left. Surprisingly, Flower was still able to walk amidst the gruesome anguish. Initially she was expecting not being able to walk after witnessing such sensations of pain radiating from her ankle. So therefore she was currently stunned by what she was perceiving and witnessing.

Although her ankle still hurt, but still it wasn't hurting to the extent that Flower wouldn't be able to walk anymore.

"Thank goodness—!"

Flower almost screamed but swiftly respected herself by keeping her lips folded and concealing her tongue. Realizing that she shouldn't forget that she was still treading the enemy's den. Flower placed a finger on her lips.

"Hush Flower!" she muttered to herself.

'I mustn't act carelessly!'

Then she prompted down and fixed her sandal with agility and with the profound sensation of joy that comes from still being able to walk. Although the sandal wasn't as good as before, but in as much as she had fixed it to the extent of it still being usable, it didn't bother Flower that it appeared unpleasing. Only on one of the sandals spoilt and not the both of them. So Flower hastily made an amendment to it and lifted her upper body upwards.

Flower glanced backwards, adapting a peek at the enemy's den that they had concealed her in. Flower felt as though this was the last time she was going to be seeing it, instead of feeling sad about so, she felt happy.

She turned away from the diabolical, devastating enemy's den. Then she perpetuate walking forward and away from the enemy's den. She clutched the handles of her satchel which was situated behind her back, gripping it tightly with her hands.

She took a voluminous breath. Exhaling in and out. She continued walking, until the mansion, or as Flower would like to refer to it 'the enemy's den' began to appear more smaller and smaller with every seconds that escaped by. The more Flower ambulated farther, the more the mansion lessen in size to her. This was a good thing though, it meant she was progressing.

Flower smiled meekly.

Alone and hopelessly treading the great wildlife reserve of Alaska with little to no worries at all. Looking like a playful little girl who was brought here with her mates and ended up missing the scouting bus due to always having the urge to explore the great unknown.

Flower rubbed away all the blood that was dripping from some part of her body that had been mistakenly pervaded by wounds and openings. She did this as she already knew that some wild animals are capable of smelling blood especially from long distance.

They could trail the smell of blood, with the thought that a feast had been successfully awaiting them all along and the only thing they had to do was to manage and find the source which the smelling of the satisfying red substance was being manufactured from.

Even so, it was inevitable that stains of blood were still on her clothes. It wasn't her fault though. Only her badluck was to be pinned with blame on behalf of everything that transpired.

It was evening already. The sky was already being blessed by the illuminating twilight showcasing from the western horizon.

Premium chirpings and tweetings sounds coming from numerous snowbirds and other types of flying creatures wrought the provinces with great potential. The wildlife reserve deemed more sheen and winsome during the evening time, even sheen and winsome was only an understatement, it appeared magical and majestic for one's eyesight.

Flower would have loved to adore the exquisite splendours of the route she was tailing at present. But then, she just couldn't, various reasons were obstructing her from doing so. Part of the reasons being; losing her precious and loved ones in Alaska—having to focus on escaping and not getting caught in the act if she had to slow herself down by admiring the splendiferous horizons and twilights—and partly because she just embodied an heartwrenching fall not too long ago. All these were part of the reasons for not deeming the current beauteous view as beautiful.

From a stranger's prospectives, Flower seemed more like a wanderer who was lost and left alone to go through the hardships of this life on the quest to seek freedom.

With every step that Flower manipulated into action, the sky above her kept getting darker and light began to abscond as though being chased by darkness. Some part of the sky were totally absquatulated in black shades of hue.

On the first half of the journey Flower made sure to ambulate hastily, making all her efforts to get faraway from the enemy's den. While the other half of the journey Flower walked not too hastily. Not because she was sure that they wouldn't catch up with her and put an end to her ulterior motives if truly they had eventually been enlightened about her absence, rather because she was unspeakably merged in and out with bleakness and excess fatigue.

Flower knew that if she continued walking as she was still presently doing, then there is a slight possibility that her limbs might fall off in the process. In this past few days, Flower had already experienced and gone through situations that she couldn't have possibly imagined.

If she was to have been enlightened by a fortune teller that all this unfortunate events were going to manifest themselves in her life, damn straight she wouldn't have believe such and would have counted it as fake prophecy from a fake fortune teller or prophet. However, it happened anyways as luck would have it.

The surroundings were infatuated by heavy misty fog. It was a though something was being burnt down which had provoked excess smoke, but then it was otherwise, and indeed was some heavy fogs. The fogs were so thick to the extent that Flower could barely see where she was heading to. Although there was fogs too earlier at the beginning of her journey, however, it appears as though the fogs was getting more thicker as the nightfalls.

Flower knew that she was overly fatigued from the way she was walking groggily and from the way her stomach was grunting for food. Only striving, confident and determination had brought her this far, or else she would have collapse on the snow filled bone-chilling ground.

Flower halted. Believing that she might collapse if she kept on moving forcefully. She placed both her hands on her waist with an akimbo. Not really knowing what to do next, especially because she couldn't see properly due to the heavy fog.

Flower panted profusely, her stomach moved up and down with great strenuity. Her face was as white as a millennium old ghost and as a white fox that lives in a snowy area. No words in the dictionary could fantasize about how haggard, tired, hungry and annoyed she was feeling. She couldn't help but blame that scoundrel of a werewolf for all this, although she has decided to forgive him in return for all the favours he had shown towards her, even so she just couldn't help but to pin all the blame on him. Besides if not him who else?

She snorted. The pain of her sprained ankle were not making things easier for her, likewise the pain that was coming from her thumping head, causing her a bittersome headache.

She took in a deep breath in and out. Immediately after that, white steams came out of her mouth due to the cold. Flower grunted.

With every seconds that abscond, the sky kept getting absquatulated with pure and gruesome darkness. But it wasn't completely dark yet to the extent of not being able to see completely anything or be able to tell the outlines of objects.

Thankfully for Flower it wasn't snowing this night. Notwithstanding, the night was still abundantly brumal. Flower sighed.

'I need to find shelter.'

Obeying her thoughts, Flower obediently scurried herself into the trees somewhere in the wilderness abode. She walked around more, trying a find a place secure enough to hide from her enemies and wild animals and a place safe enough to sleep without interference of any sort.

Flower's eyes scanned around through the environment, not like she was seeing anything anyways, but at least she was trying to.

"Perfect!"

Seeming to have found a place suitable enough to acquaint her for the night, or rather a huge tree to be precised. What's the best place to take a refreshing sleep without being overwhelmed with the anxiety about possible attacks from wild animals or being spotted by unwanted guests? Atop a huge tree of course!

Flower stared at the tree for a while. Analyzing and inspecting it thoroughly before mounting it to sleep upon.

The tree was enormous, it had an humongous root that shot itself into the ground and outside of the snow surface too, making it obvious that the tree had lived for a very short time. It had no leafs above it. They had all withered and perished due to the excess snow.

Flower then decided that she was going to climb it after eating. Snatching her gaze away from the tree, Flower leaned her back against it and sat aimlessly on the cold ground, shivering in coldness. Her mouths kept producing steams due to her cold state.

Flower removed her backpack. She opened its zipper and brought out the meal which she had distributed into the container. She placed the meal container on her laps and aimed her satchel beside her.

Soon enough, she opened the food container. Slightly disgusted by how the meals in it had turned out. If not for her present situation, Flower would have vomited at the sight of such thing. It was starting to look spoilt and decaying, nonetheless, Flower didn't mind due to her current situation. It was a sacrifice she had to render if she was planning on surviving.

Flower rapidly ate up. The food had already had a peculiar taste and unwonted smell. A taste of when a food was starting to spoil and loosening its quality. When Flower was finished eating, she backed her satchel and advanced upon the tree skillfully, since tree climbing was her specialty.

And on the tree was where she slept off upon. Not comfortably but at least it was manageable till the next morning.
