Chapter 14 - Opportunity Comes But Once

"Flower! Do you intend on sleeping here? I'm done already. Or have you given up the pursuit for your colleagues burials, or what?"

Smelling imminent aggression. Flower persistently flung open her eyes. Turns out she had misunderstood Anthony's intentions and had only thought that he had nothing to offer than wanting to take advantage of her at every chances he clasps.

'Oh I guess I've misinterpreted his intentions,' Flower thought a little embarrassed. Even so, she still wouldn't put the blame on herself. Instead, she would rather place it on Anthony. If not for his earlier actions, then Flower wouldn't have assumed his good intentions as bad intentions.

Hastily grasping an unstable sentence, Flower replied knowing that she shouldn't keep Anthony waiting any longer. Although she didn't know the consequences of making Anthony wait and wasting his time, hence, she still didn't want to find out about it.

"Oh right. Please forgive me for making you wait," Flower apologized with an awkward smile. "I'll just get off now," she said. feeling utterly embarrassed by her actions

Anthony grunted. Not bothering to reply Flower. He shifted his gaze away from the girl. Opening the car door for himself, he got out of the car. Stepping his legs which was overwhelmed with black socks and a black pair of footwears on the snow filled floor.

He paused there for a while with his car entrance door still opened, he rested his hands upon it. Staring forward at somewhere in vast wildlife of Alaska. Looking for something perhaps. It was starting to snow once again and with snow comes excess bone-chilling breeze. Thus, it became more chilled than before.

Soon enough, Anthony looked away from where he had been staring at for the past minutes, then towards Flower. Probably to see whether the girl was coming or elsewise.

Flower on the contrary had already gotten out of the car. She was currently walking towards Anthony's abode, hoping for him to lead her to her colleagues burials.

Seeing that Flower was already coming as expected. Anthony shut his car door and went to the back of the car, opening the boot with a remote control. Anthony brought out a black umbrella, he clutched it and afterwards, he closed back the car boot with the remote control.

Then Anthony walked towards Flower who was standing still like an ice statue, staring at the beautiful crystalline structure which the snow has turned some trees into.

Spontaneously, Flower felt Anthony's present beside her, but she was reluctant to look at him. Flower peeped upwards when she noticed that something was amalgamating her head and casting a faint shadow over her head.

'Huh?!' She thought inwardly. Flower was very astounded to find out that Anthony was holding up an umbrella for her. She wasn't expecting such gesture from this scoundrel in a million of years. After wondering why Anthony did such, then she realized that snowflakes was starting to rain like water upon them. Thus, Flower assumed that this was Anthony's reason for acting like so.

Flower smiled slightly. "T-thank you," she said gently.

"You're welcome," Anthony replied curtly. "Let's go then."

As soon as that was said, they began walking side-by-side eachother, with Anthony holding up an umbrella for Flower inches atop her head. They both pilgrimed down the hill slope meekly like newlyweds, with both sides not uttering any words to eachother.

The pilgriming lasted for five minutes.

"That's their burials over there!" Anthony indicated with one of his fingers pointing towards the burials.

The burial was made properly, two stones were placed atop the edges of the protruding pile of sands which was now covered with snow. It was molded with bricks and cemented properly. Turns out Anthony really did a good job in burying them.

Anthony handed the umbrella to Flower and she accepted it.

Flower too could already see the graves. Her heart shattered into uncountable pieces, tears began forming up in her eyes. She drifted nearer to the two graves, while Anthony stood not too faraway from her. Facing the other side in order to give Flower some alone time with her dead colleagues.

Anthony's hands were firmly placed inside the pockets of his black trouser as he stared faraway and deep into the eastern horizon, maintaining a stable gaze towards it, totally ignoring Flower and whatever she was doing.

Flower moved closer to the graves, dropping the black umbrella on the snow filled floor. She caressed the graves with her hands as the tears that had once filled up her youthful eyes began dripping down her red cheeks and spilling downwards onto her dress. She panted profusely as she continued crying non-stop. Her eyes became unfathomably red.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have allowed us to come here in the first place. I'm really sorry, please forgive me," she mumbled whilst crying.

Flower went down on her knees and wept bitterly even more. Cleaning her tears away from her cheeks.

"I… I'm glad to see that you were both buried properly. Forgive me for not being there when you guys were being buried. Hopefully… I would join you guys soon and then we shall never be apart from that moment onwards. I swear to you that I would always honor the memories that we spent and shared together. And I sincerely hoped that in our next life we would be together once again and live happily just like we have always planned beforehand…"

Her speeches were invaded by her excessive sobbings. She sniffled multiple times, she swallowed then she continued.

"I would never trade the moment we witnessed together for anything else, I'll cherish them and hold you both close to my heart. Julius, Amanda and Dad I love you and forever it will remain the same. If I could turn back the hands of time then I would have done so and in that way you would have been able to spend more time with me before your demise. I know you would have never wanted me to commit suicide, but please forgive me if I ended up doing so," Flower stated in whispers.

She sighed, cleaning her tears once more. She grabbed a thick stone not too faraway from her side. Then she got up from her kneeling position and went closer towards the grave. She carved Amanda's first name, last name and surname on the surface of the brick made grave. She also did the same thing to Julius's grave too.

Then after she was satisfied with doing so, she spoke sorrowfully;

"Goodbye Amanda Thompson, and goodbye Julius Christopher. You will always remain in my heart and I will always love you. Until we meet again," Flower said, trying her best to form a fragile smile amidst the heartwrenching anguish she was exhibiting.

She then turned towards Anthony who was still facing the other side, standing faraway from her with his hands firmly situated inside the pockets of his black trouser. He seems a bit lost, as though he was lost in his thinking state.

'He seems lost,' Flower thought. As soon as she thought this a sinister plan corrupted her head and a ray of hope shone greatly towards her eyes.

'This is my chance to escape. He's not looking, I can go faraway from here and he would think that I'm still mourning my colleagues. It's now or never.'

With that thought, Flower glanced at Anthony who was still lost in space. She kept her mouth extremely quiescent and she turned away from him carefully and sinisterly.

Flower tiptoed away from the place and into an unknown area, hoping to find help from nearby. When she was farther enough from him, Flower took off her footwears to give her better chances of running. Then immediately after that, she began running hastily.

She ran to the extent that her limbs were starting to go numb. She snorted and panted immersely. Her heart raced up as her body were trembling in hope and despair.

'I pray he doesn't quickly notice that I'm gone. Oh heavens support me, I know I don't attend church daily, but please show me mercy this once, I can't literally spend my lifetime serving someone who I don't know anything about or have never seen before. If he ends up catching me today then I'm doomed to death.'

After running nonstop for almost thirty minutes. Flower couldn't take it any longer. She halted to catch her breaths. She panted exhaustively, wiping her sweats occasionally. Although it was a very cold day, however her sweats were dripping down as though she was presently pilgriming the Saharan desert.

Flower relaxed her back on a nearby tree and closed her eyes for the meantime. Hopefully, after a two minutes rest then she would continue her fugitives and scurry away from Anthony's overprotective clutches.

Flower quickly wore back her footwears since the snow was making her barefeets sore, which was extremely painful.

Flower bend slightly, resting both her hands on her knees. She faced downwards, still panting with a dampen face conflated with wet liquids like that of a woman who just went through the excruciating pain of labour.

When suddenly!
