Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Unspoken Questions

Zara sees La breathing heavily as she returns to the room, but she doesn't ask why.

Both La and Zara look at each other, feeling awkward and uncomfortable. Neither one is willing to bring up the events that happened the night before.

La breaks the silence by saying, "I'm just gonna go get ready, you should too." Zara responds with a simple, "Okay."

Zara's simple "okay" feels like a huge barrier between the two of them, and they are both silent for a few minutes.

La eventually breaks the silence and says, "I'll be right back." She leaves the room and goes into the bathroom to begin getting ready.

Zara is left alone, feeling very uncomfortable, as her thoughts keep returning to what happened the night before. She's not sure whether she should bring it up to. La or just wait it out.

As La and Zara finish getting ready, someone knocks on the door.

Zara asks who it is, and the person on the other side replies, "I'm one of the maids that were assigned to you. I'm here to inform you that the queen wants you guys to have breakfast with her before you guys head out."

Both La and Zara are surprised, but they both decide to accept the invitation, as it would be rude not to.

The two girls walk out of the room and follow the maid to the dining room, where the Queen is already waiting for them.

As they enter, the Queen smiles warmly at them and motions for them to sit down at the table. Breakfast is already laid out on the table, and it looks delicious.

La and Zara take their seats, feeling a little anxious and awkward, but they try to act natural.

The Queen starts the conversation, asking them how they slept.

La and Zara both look at the Queen with an anxious expression, as if they want to explode in anger. However, they manage to hold their emotions in check and compose themselves.

La replies to the Queen's question by saying, "We both slept peacefully. The bed was very comfortable, and the atmosphere was excellent, wasn't it, Zara?" She looks over at Zara, trying to hint to her not to cause a scene.

Zara rolls her eyes in response but agrees with La's statement.

The Queen smiles at La and Zara, seeming satisfied with their responses.

She then takes a sip of her tea and looks at them both intently.

"I'm glad to hear that you both slept well," she says. "I wanted to have this breakfast with you guys, not just to make sure you're comfortable at my home, but also because I want to talk to you guys about something."

Both La and Zara look at the Queen, feeling a little nervous about what she might say next.

The Queen sets down her cup of tea and leans back in her chair. "I know that the atmosphere might feel a little strange, given what happened last night," she says, alluding to the incident with La.

"But I want you both to know that I only have your best interests at heart." La and Zara look at each other, feeling a little less on edge but still suspicious of the Queen's motives.

They both turn back to the Queen and wait for her to continue speaking.

The Queen continues speaking, explaining that she will be assigning bodyguards to both of them.

She admits that she didn't ask for their consent, but she says it's for their own protection. "As you know," she says, "I am the Queen. Therefore, my enemies might try to harm you guys while you're out looking for school supplies and clothes." La and Zara were about to say something, but the Queen continues speaking.

"Additionally, I suggest that you guys don't get too intimate with each other while in public, since La is a Royal Omega, and Royal Omegas are quite rare."

Zara is clearly angry about what the Queen has just said. She says, "So you're saying I can't get intimate with my girlfriend, my omega, just because she's royal? Well then, I might as well protest to that-" The Queen interrupts Zara before she can finish speaking.

"I'm sorry to say," the Queen says, "but it would be very unfavorable for you, as you are only an ordinary alpha, and you are not fit to be her mate. Furthermore, since she is a Royal Omega, she cannot have more than one mate, and you also have not marked her yet."

As Zara and the Queen continue to argue, La becomes increasingly irritated by the fact that they're discussing her as if she's a mere object.

Her eyes begin to turn red, and her face tattoo appears once again. Additionally, her tails and claws start coming out, yet neither Zara nor the Queen notices as they're preoccupied with their argument.

However, the maids and guards start cowering in fear as they sense La's energy. Finally, the Queen notices La's energy and looks over to her side.
