Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: "Troubling News"

Scene switches to the Queen's office. She is poring over documents on her desk, her brow furrowed in deep thought. There is a knock on the door, and one of her advisors enters. "Your majesty," he says, his voice grave. "We have news."

The Queen looks up, setting down her quill. "What is it?" she asks, her voice betraying a hint of trepidation.

The advisor looks grim, his expression serious. "Your majesty, it appears that there has been an attack," he says, his voice low. "A group of human traffickers have targeted Princess La."

The advisor's words hang in the air like a dark cloud. The Queen's face pales, her eyes widening in shock. "Human traffickers?" she whispers, her voice almost a gasp. "What... What do you mean? How could this have happened? Where is La now?"

The advisor hesitates for a moment, his gaze flickering nervously. "We don't know exactly where they have taken her, your majesty," he says, his voice trembling slightly. "But we have intelligence suggesting that they have taken her to a remote location in the eastern part of the kingdom. We have already mobilized a team to scour the area and find any clues that could lead us to her whereabouts."

The Queen's hands grip the edge of her desk, her knuckles turning white.

"We have to find her immediately," she says, her voice trembling with suppressed anger. "We cannot let these vile human traffickers keep their hands on her for one more minute."

The advisor nods, his expression filled with determination. "Of course, your majesty," he says.

"We are doing everything we can. We have sent out scouts and trackers to search the indicated area, and we have also alerted all the nearby villages and towns to be on the lookout for any signs of human trafficking activity."

The Queen's face is etched with worry, her mind racing with a million thoughts. "This... this is unacceptable," she mutters, her voice filled with anger. "There must be more we can do. We cannot simply rely on scouts and trackers alone."

The Queen pushes back from her desk, her determination fueling her voice. "No, I will not sit idly by while my treasured one is being held captive by human traffickers," she says, her eyes flashing with anger.

"I will go out and search for her myself. I will not rest until I have her back in my arms, safe and sound."

The advisor looks stunned, his mouth opening and closing wordlessly. He had expected protest, reluctance, anything but the Queen's fierce determination.

He composes himself quickly, bowing low. "Y-Your majesty," he stutters. "Surely it is far too dangerous for you to venture out on your own. We need you here, leading the kingdom."

The Queen's gaze turns firm, her jaw set in a determined line. "I appreciate your concern, advisor," she replies, her voice steady. "But I cannot simply sit here when La's life is at stake. She needs me, and I cannot let anything stop me from finding her."

The advisor hesitates, his eyes wide with worry. "But your majesty, what if something happens to you?" he asks, his voice laced with concern. "What if you get captured or hurt, or..."

The Queen cuts him off with a sharp look. "I am perfectly capable of defending myself," she replies, her eyes narrowing.

The advisor swallows hard, knowing that he won't be able to talk her out of this.

Valiant the 2 enters the room, her expression stern. "I've heard enough of this," she says, her voice authoritative. "Adviser, you may make your leave. I need to speak with my sister."

The advisor bows slightly, giving Valiant a wary glance before exiting the room. Valiant turns her gaze to the Queen, her expression softening slightly.

"You're the Queen, sister," she says firmly. "You have a kingdom to rule. You cannot abandon your people just for one royal omega."

The Queen bristles at Valiant's words, her anger flaring up. "You don't understand," she snaps, her voice tight. "La is not just 'one royal omega' to me. She is..." The Queen pauses, her voice trailing off.

Valiant gives the Queen a calculating look, understanding beginning to dawn in her eyes. "Ah," she says quietly. "So it is like that, is it?"

The Queen flushes slightly under Valiant's gaze, realizing that she has inadvertently revealed her true feelings. "Yes," she says, her voice softer now. "It is like that. I cannot explain it, but she means everything to me, Valiant. I cannot sit here and do nothing while she is suffering..."

Valiant's expression softens further, her gaze filled with empathy. "I understand, sister," she says, her voice quiet. "But you must think rationally. If you leave to search for La yourself, you risk leaving the kingdom leaderless and vulnerable."

The Queen's shoulders slump slightly, her determination wavering at Valiant's words. "But I can't just do nothing," she says, her voice pleading. "I can't just wait here, hoping and praying for her safe return. How do I know... how do I know that she is okay?"

Valiant straightens, her expression firm. "Then let me go," she says resolutely. "I volunteer to go in search of her. I will tear the kingdom apart if needed, anything to get her back safely."

The Queen looks up, her eyes widening in surprise at Valiant's words. "You... you would do that, for her?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

Valiant's expression softens, her eyes filled with sincerity. "No, sister," she says quietly. "I'm not doing this for her. I'm doing this for you. You love her, and it is clear that you will do anything to get her back. But I also cannot stand the thought of you running off on a reckless and dangerous mission."

The Queen's eyes fill with tears, her heart swelling with gratitude for her sister. "Oh, Valiant," she whispers. "You are the best sister a Queen could have."

Valiant nods, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Well, don't get sappy on me. If you do that, I might start to question my decision."

Valiant gives the Queen a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder, her determination clear in her eyes. "I will find her, sister," she assures her. "I will not rest until La is safely back in your arms."

With a final nod, Valiant heads out of the room, her footsteps echoing loudly in the empty halls. Her mind is solely focused on one thing - finding La and bringing her home.
