Chereads / The Tower of Swords / Chapter 3 - Floor 2

Chapter 3 - Floor 2

After reaching the 2nd floor, Alexis heads to the central city of the floor to sell the drop he has obtained and to buy new items. After selling the materials, Alexis exits the merchant a little upset at not finding items to his liking, disconnecting from the game.

After several days, the second floor is quite populated, with a lot of players advancing to this floor. Here Alexis meets Ashley, a player who is very skilled in the art of bargaining and promises to get whatever items are on the market, as long as the pay is fair. So, he spends most of his time dealing with monsters and collecting money.

Meanwhile, the other players are also farming and doing quests, with Leon befriending a player named Karna, a player who has a similar fighting style to Leon, which is why he considers him a rival. Apollo is contacted by Zekker and his group to take part in some dungeon raids, Gilgamesh remains the same individualist, managing to make a name for himself and becoming increasingly popular after some players claim to have seen him clearing some dungeons on his own, even killing a Field Boss.

Dante, on the other hand, continues to fight monsters on his own, but one day, Alexis sees him in his farmyard and decides to watch his actions for a while.

- What a strange fighting style he has... It's like watching beasts fight, not a player fighting monsters. He doesn't even care if they hurt him. (Alexis)

Alexis thought aloud.

After a few moments, Dante sends a monster flying towards Alexis' direction, and when he tries to attack the monster, it seems as if he instinctively turns his attention and suddenly attacks Alexis. The latter, reacting at the last moment blocks his attack with his sword and says:

- What the... And what's the deal with this sword? It's fucking heavy... (Alexis)

- Huh? Oh, sorry. I thought you were a monster. (Dante)

- Truth be told, if I were a monster, I'd definitely hide after watching you fight the other monsters. (Alexis)

- Why do you say that? Anyway, wait a moment before I kill the monsters here... (Dante)

Alexis sits and watches Dante kill all the monsters and then continues his discussion.

- So, what's the deal with that big sword? And why did you steal my spot? (Alexis)

- Your place? There was no one here when I came, so I claimed it. (Dante)

- This was my original place. There's quite a lot of goblins roaming around here and you don't find many players around. (Alexis)

- So? Do you want to fight for the spot? (Dante)

- Nah, it'd just be a hassle. Anyway, anything else besides fighting on your mind? (Alexis)

- Eh, I feel like I live for this game. I'm in my element, fighting monsters and killing them. It's a whole different feeling when you're theoretically moving your body to fight them, as opposed to other games where you just press buttons to fight. (Dante)

- I know how you feel. Wanna team up? Or split the spot? (Alexis)

- Hm... I'm not the kind of guy who works well playing with others, but I wouldn't mind... It's been hard to play with other players from the moment the game opened, most of them just quit the party after a couple of minutes or dodging me. (Dante)

- I can see why. Your style of fighting it's a little bit too much for the most to handle. You looked like a madman when you were fighting those monsters. I am Alexis, by the way. (Alexis)

- Nice to meet'cha. I'm Dante. (Dante)

And this is how a new friendship has begun. The guys fought lots of monsters, sharing the drops and the experience over a long period of time, getting to know each other better. After Alexis hit level 35, he remembered about the weapon he bought on the 1st floor. He took it out of inventory and started testing it.

- What's the deal with the new weapon? A katana? (Dante)

- Yeah, I bought it on the 1st floor. It has some pretty interesting statuses and seems easy to handle. I kinda like it. (Alexis)

Nothing notable happened until one day a global notification appeared:

~Congratulations. Thanks to a brave group of players, Goblin Leader Grugu, the Boss of the 2nd Floor has been killed.

Their achievement will be recorded in the Hall of Fame.

From now on, players can advance to the 3rd Floor through the staircase of the 2nd Floor Boss Dungeon.~

The boys stopped abruptly after seeing the notice and looked at each other a little surprised.

- Have you heard anything about Floor Boss Dungeon? I'm quite surprised someone found the dungeon and they've already beaten the boss. The same happened with the first floor. (Dante)

- Oh, I've heard some discussion on the forum these days. Don't you check the forum? People discuss pretty much every topic related to the game, especially dungeons and bosses. (Alexis)

- Nah, why would I waste my time doing that when I can spend my time fighting monsters? (Dante)

- Right... Anyway, do you want to go see the next floor? (Alexis)

- Count me in. said Dante with a huge smile on his face.

Then the boys were moving slowly to the 3rd floor. Many other players were doing the same as well as Leon, Apollo, and Gilgamesh. Maybe we'll have a reunion on the next floor? Who knows...
