It is still early in the forenoon when Colonel Mason Kent is in the Army Headquarters, meeting with Lt. Gen. Francis Adams who summons him around an hour ago. Though the summon was sudden, it is not a rare occurrence for someone like Mason who has been spending his time serving in the Special Forces.
"You know the situation, Colonel," Lt. Gen Francis says to the young Colonel sitting in his right after explaining the reason behind his summons. "Commander Lewis is supposed to be out for three months due to health reasons and Major General Lennon was supposed to be replacing him but something comes up."
"I understand what you meant, sir," Colonel Mason Kent promptly says. "But I still think there are many senior officers capable of taking the Commander's charge and I am only a Colonel. Wouldn't this only cause unnecessary gossip?"
"Are you afraid of that?" The Lt. General asks but the Colonel shakes his head.
