Being the fearless and domineering CEO of GXL Telecoms, Richmond suddenly felt his liver fail him at the thought of speaking to Lola. Although this was something he yearned for, it wasn't the right time.
He felt beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead as he thought of a perfect response to give Owen. Lola had heard his voice before and knew him as the boss to Brian. So, he was worried that she might recognize it over the phone and outrightly reject him.
So many, 'what ifs' clouded his mind and the thought of messing up his one opportunity to make Lola happy greatly terrified him.
"Hello, sir, are you still there?" Owen asked after a few seconds of deafening silence.
"Umm...yes. I will call her...I mean Jamal." Richmond responded and ended the call. He carried out a breathing exercise to steady his erratically thumping heart before dialling Jamal's number.
He cleared his throat and tried to mask his true voice from what Lola knew.
