Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: "Who am I?"

His eyeslids fluttered, revealing a pair of captivating purple irises.

"Whe-where am I?"

My voice fell to no ears but myself. I looked around and saw that I was in a completely unknown environment - it was filled with towering trees and blades of grass.

Speaking of the unknown environment, I realized that my mind was blank. I could not remember how I got myself here - in fact, I can't even remember who I am.

My memories were...blank - empty even. A seed of worry got planted in my heart as I faced this situation I could not quite put my finger in.

Awwrrooooo!

Chills went down my spine. The howl must have come from a beast, I immediately shook my head and stood up. I looked around my surroundings, trying to find a place where I could hide safely. It was then that I heard a sound - the sound of a near stream.

I approached where the sound came from with caution. I let my senses spread out. A little later, I arrived at the stream.

It was a shallow stream, but its water was clear and transparent. It was a pretty beautiful sight, actually. I would have appreciated it more if it weren't for the fact that I am in an unknown forest where vicious beasts may reside.

Looking at the face the stream reflected - with silky smooth black hair that seemed to dangle along the playful wind, a pair of absolutely mesmerizing purple irises coupled with a sharply defined face, I gotta admit, I looked hot and pretty.

I shook my head, getting those thoughts out.

Anyway, I had to leave this place, my life may be in some sort of danger. My mind was sharp and pretty active despite having lost my memory, I had already come up with a theory as to how I am here. My thoughts are that I got my memories wash away and got thrown into this forest to die by some people. It was all a hypothesis in the end.

Anyway, I plan to follow this rivers current as to hopefully lead me to a village or something. My memories was lost, and my direction was clearly no better than this, so I'm just gonna gamble and hopefully find some human civilization by following this river.

My memories being erased was still bugging me. It feels like an itch I can not quite scratch. Frustrating to be honest, but I could do nothing. I best just find some way to regain my memories and answer these questions swirling in my head.

Hours passed by, and my plan was not working at all. I've been following this river, yet it's not leading me anywhere. Normally, I would've continued, but the clutches of darkness was about to encompass the skies. Moreover, I keep hearing growls and howls of beasts - it didn't seem that far as well, actually pretty close.

I gulped and quickly decided it would be best to divert from the river and look elsewhere to find a place to hide - preferably a tree or even a cave. I just hoped I didn't come across some beasts.

I ran fast, swiveling my head left and right, panning my eyes for any cave or a place I could hide from. Just then, I spotted a cave. It seemed I had good luck. I just hoped that my luck wouldn't fail me and a beast happened to be inhabiting the place.

Before entering the cave, I looked for any traces that a beast may be residing inside. I made sure not to make any sounds, and when I confirmed that there were no such traces, I went inside, but nonetheless, I kept my caution up.

There were still light out. It wasn't yet completely night before I found the cave, so it was just my luck that I happened to find a safe place before the night came.

I breathed out a sigh of relief. I explored around the cave when suddenly I heard a loud rumble from outside. I managed to identify it as a thunderstorm. The outside was about to get hectic.

I just exhaled and praised my luck. As if proving my thought, rain came as flashes of lightning occurred just right outside the entrance of the cave. Speaking of the entrance, it was quite small, just enough for two people to get through at the same time. So I wouldn't be expecting any large beasts that may take shelter in.

The light around the cave was dim. I hid in some corner and went into a lotus position. For reasons unknown, I felt like meditating.

Closing my eyes, I let my senses spread out. I made sure to keep my mind clean and tranquil without any unnecessary thoughts. The once noisy heavy thunderstorm outside went silent little by little.

My heart beated rhythmically as my breath relaxed and my chest felt light.
