Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Fcked!!

My eyes widened as a wild beast wolf showed up barring its sharp fangs in the entrance of the cave. It eyed me with vicious red eyes.

Oh fuck!

Either the beast was attracted by the smell of the deer or the deer was the wolf's prey and food, and I just so happened to steal it after it got away from its clutches.

The latter was more likely because of the large claw wound on the deer's body.

Either way, I am fcked!!

I just wished that I could perform magic with a swing of my hand but unfortunately, I could not. I just learned magic for God's sake. It would take a few seconds for me to conjure the thunder arrow and I was not about to risk it, I don't want my head bitten off after all.

An idea struck my mind which I soon found to be stupid.

The wolf came closer with a vicious growl.

Grrrrr.

I raised my hand with an open palm.

Zzrrzkzkzkzz.

I released lightning from my hands to scare the wolf away, however, it did the opposite. The wolf got triggered and felt a threat, instead of running away like I hoped it would, it charged at me ready to bite my head off.

Shit.

I turned around and ran back to the cave. There was only one entrance and the wolf was blocking it chasing after me. I knew that my action was in vain because the cave only had one entrance and one exit.

I was about to hit a dead end.

I have no choice, I have to try and attack to survive.

Because of the situation, my mind was active like I was on some drugs, my heart beat fast and my chest heaved up and down. Adrenaline was coursing through my veins.

The feeling of possibly dying made me alert and active. Taking a deep breath, I turned around and faced the wolf that was now 2 meters away from me.

My eyes shone. My mind spun - imagine, focus, and manifest. I remembered the feeling when I first used the spell - thunder arrow and tried to feel what I felt at that moment.

I remembered the process and repeated it, however in a much faster manner.

"Thunder Arrow!" Shoooswwwhh.

Whimper.

The wolf was hit, and a smile couldn't help but appear on my face despite the fatigue I was feeling - especially in my mind. It was throbbing with a piercing pain.

It was successful! I felt like laughing despite the pain.

Just as a breath of relief was about to escape, I found out that the fight was not over. The smile got wiped off my face like it never existed.

The wolf stood up in its four legs and jumped on me like the vicious animal it was.

Arggg.

I fell on the ground, the wolf pushed me down with its incredible weight whilst it tried to bite my head off. My mind was ringing and I could barely think straight but I tried the best I could to avoid dying, I pushed away the wolf's jaw with my hands.

The wolf was evidently weak because of the damage inflicted by my attack otherwise I would've been completely crushed by this beast's strength.

I didn't want to die, so in desperation, ignoring the pain in my mind, I discharged lightning from my palms and into the wolf's body.

It howled in pain.

Zzrzrkkkk.

It was pretty brutal and the wolf's bleeding worsened. The arrow actually hit it pretty deep and it didn't take long for it to die in addition to the lightning I discharged.

It fell on top of me, my mind was about to shut down, and I could barely keep my eyes open. Before I fell unconscious, I kicked away the corpse of the beast to the side, relieving me of the feeling of being crushed.

....

"The mind is most active in deathly situations, in other words, mages are all the more powerful when in a situation where death may fall upon them."

_________

Arrrghh.

I touched my head, feeling extremely terrible. My head still throbbed pretty badly accompanied by a sharp pain.

I definitely overexerted myself that was for sure. I was knocked out after the fight was over, but thankfully in the end, after much struggle, I managed to kill the wolf.

What was a little bit of pain compared to when you are dead?

It was worth it!

I looked to my side and saw the corpse of the dead wolf, it was powerful,l and had I just been even a little hesitant I would've died right there and then.

Chills went down my spine remembering the vicious rabid face the wolf had when it pounced on me.

I was also very thankful that my gamble with the thunder arrow succeeded, if it had not, then it would have been the end of my life.
