Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Chance

The fight between the two wild beasts looked very intense, the bull stomped its hooves down causing a few cracks to appear.

It then charged forth ducking its head so that the horns stick out and strike the python beast.

It was clear that the python beast was disadvantageous in a head-on fight.

The snake dodged and avoided the bull, the python was fast and pretty nimble.

It slithered on the ground and made a sharp turn to take back at the bull, it pounced with its maws wide open ready to bite the bull after it stopped in its tracks.

The bull roared as the python managed to bite it on its sides, it became enraged and started thumping its hooves down, jumping in an attempt to lose the snake and shake it off.

It worked and the snake loosened its maws and retreated quickly. The bull snorted and chased after it, however, no matter how much it tried, it could never catch up with the snake. The reptile looked like it was playing with the bull, circling all around it dodging every attempt of the bull's attack like it was nothing.

I gasped at the fight between the two collosals. These two were on a completely different level.

They were tier-2 wild beasts!!

With my analysis, the python beast would most likely be the one to come out winning the fight, it was fast as it was deadly. Its speed was what was amazing. It moved like a fish in deep waters.

The bull was also pretty strong, though it found itself a great opponent that just so happened to counter its great aspects. It possessed great strengths and power yes, but what was that when you face an enemy with speed significantly much higher than you - you end up being toyed.

Strength was useless when fighting an enemy you couldn't hit.

Just then, I saw something that left me bewildered and also a little bit amazed.

The snake led the bull to some trees and laid itself bare in front of it. When the bull saw this, fire ignited in its eyes and it charged with an invigorated strength like its blood was set on fire.

Just as the last second, the snake dodged and the bull fell for its trap.

Its horns hit the tree's bark causing it to be stuck. The bull struggled to get its horns out. After much hardships, it was finally out.

Surprisingly the python beast didn't attack it in the moment of opening.

I raised a brow, it seemed that the beast was quite an intelligent being.

It was my first time seeing a beast act so...abnormal.

Anyway, this begged the question though, why did the snake do nothing in that moment of opening?

However I saw something that left my mouth hung slightly open, when the bull turned around, its eyes were red like blood, and its horns were chipped as well.

It showed signs of irregularities.

The bull was breathing loudly, air puffed out of its snout. It looked like it was on its last breath.

No! It was on its last breath.

I gulped wondering what might have led to this, exhaustion? Internal wounds?

It was not of the two, I realized what it was too late - it was poison. Its opponent was a snake! A snake with a very deadly poison!

It must have entered the bull's system when the snake bit it earlier!

Its death was determined when the snake barred its fangs! After successfully injecting the venom into its system, it proceeded to play with the bull like it was playing on its prey!

Such viciousness. It wasn't only viciousness it possessed but also cunningness and cruelty.

It was the first time I saw such a display and it sent chills down my spine.

After the bull died, the python didn't leave it there to rot, which made me disappointed. I was hoping I could harvest its mana shard after the snake beast left it here, however, it seemed that the snake also had the same intent.

It dragged the bull's corpse away- probably into its lair to feast on it.

I planned my next move, and an absurd idea came to mind - it was to follow the snake and see where it led, and if a chance presented itself, I would snatch the mana shard in the beast bull's skull.

How much chance would something like this present itself? I could never kill a tier-2 wild beast alone. I just reached the peak stage after all. Tier-2 wild beasts also looked to be more stronger and powerful than I had imagined.

If I managed to obtain a tier-2 mana shard, I would advance smoothly.

And I hardly believe that a 1st tier, middle-stage mana shard would be enough. It would also take a lot of time if I just did it normally. Using a mana shard was also much more efficient and easy.
