Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Going Outside.

"I know that you wanted me to take out into the city, but…."

"Why the hell we are buying food?"

Uri, Iris and the maid where walking through the city streets that were packed with food stalls.

"Well, you can't deny that eating some street foods is a nice a change from the usual food you eat at your house."

"You are not wrong. Eating more simple food and food from the stalls is a nice change than the food I usually eat at home."

"But did we only came here to eat?"

"…."

"Why are you silent?"

"…."

"You didn't think this through, didn't you?"

"Oh, shut up! You were staying all days in home and doing nothing but researching and learning. You need to have fun one or twice. Just do something else you workaholic!"

"Young master Uri. Miss Iris is correct on this matter. Your mother told me that you are spending too much on learning and doing nothing else besides it. She is worried about your health because of that. She said that you are forbitten from spending too much time doing research all days for some time." – said maid Allie.

"Your mother was one who told me to take you out into the city in the first place." – said Iris.

"Oh."

(Now that I think about it, was I doing anything besides researching and learning stuff?)

(Honestly, I only though on making myself stronger, well it is fun researching magic for me, but did I did anything else?)

(…..)

(Nope. I did not.)

(Before I regained my memories, I would spend most of my times goofing around and playing.)

(Wow. Even in my previous life I would do something else besides working to relax like reading or playing some games.)

(I guess I was so focused on making my stronger than I forget to have fun or something.)

(….)

"Well, I guess it won't hurt."

(Truth to be told, training magic in my current state isn't that good. From what I discover from the books and from my mom teaching, the child body can't expand their mana vessel too much via training or other means. Apparently the body needs to get used to the mana, so until a child gets old enough and get used enough to the mana, their own mana vessel will grow and mature. Training after the body matures enough will have a proper effect than compare when the body is still young and mana vessel is still weak.)

(Honestly saying I did not know that at all. I only found out around 2 mouths ago about this from my mom lecture when I was asking her on how to expand my mana vessel volume. I was kind of shocked to discover that all the training I did for the past half a year improved my mana vessel volume by barely any amount.)

(Well, probably I won't be able to increase [Earth Magic] by many levels until I get old enough, so maybe I should focus on something else?)

(Well, right now I'm learning earth magic, summoning magic and the golem craft. I also will need to learn alchemy as well as blacksmithing. The book mentioned that it will be needed when making an golem core or when making the golem body.)

(So I have 5 different things to learn.)

(Honestly the best course of action is just to wait until I get old enough and I can finally train properly.)

(So, taking it easy right now maybe a good answer for me. I mean, working right when I'm this young will barely do a thing anyway. So I guess I can take easy and just act like a child since I'm one.)

"Anyway, woman. How much are you going to eat?"

"Hm?" – said Iris while stuffing her face snacks.

"Mhumuhum."

"I can't understand a bloody thing you are saying."

The girl quickly swallowed everything in her mouth before turning to the boy.

"I said I can't help it. You need to try these! They are a bread snakes that uses a special cheese and cream!"

"And this one is a meat from the frog monster wrapped with in the something called swamp cabbage."

"I see you are enjoying yourself. But are you sure you can handle all this? It's a lot of food."

"Hm? What are you saying? I barely eat anything yet."

(Bullshit. You are eating nonstop ever since we got here. I'm honestly surprised you can even continue eating even after eating THAT much food.)

"…. What are you looking at?" – asked Iris while holding tons of food in her hands.

"Nothing. Is there anything to do here besides eating?" – asked the boy.

"Hm…. Ah! There." – said the maid after looking around for the bit.

Allie the maid let Iris and Uri towards a stall with multiple wind chemise hanging around.

"Wind chemise?" – asked the boy.

"Not exactly young man. Those are melody chemise. They are very similar to the wind chemise, but with some differences." – said the male stall vendor.

"See that part pendant looking part hanging in the middle? The melody chemise unlike the normal ones, don't use the wind, instead they use a little bit of mana to operate. By holding this part and injecting your mana into it, the melody chemise will begin to play."

The man grabbed one of the chemise near him by the pendant like the object before moments later the object begin playing a melody at slow pace.

"Huh, that does seem interesting. Melody seems pretty relaxing as well." – said the boy.

"We have different types for sell. Specifically, the 5 right between us. Would you like to hear the rest of them?"

"Sure."

The man begin activating the melody chemises one by one and deactivating them before changing to the next one.

"So, what do you say? Interested?"

"…. Hm…... I think I will take this one with feint sound." – said the boy while handing over some coins.

"Okay, please wait a moment…... Here." – the man got up for the moment and took one of the melody chemises from a box before handing over to the boy.

"Huh. I wasn't expecting you to buy something like this." – said Iris.

"Well, you got to say, it does seems pretty interesting." – said the boy while holding the device.

The group beginned traveling through the streets and visiting many different stalls, some with the snacks and food while some with a toys. However, it didn't took long for the group to visit the last stall.

"Well, I think we have run out of the stalls to visit." – said Uri while looking around.

"Hm… Now that you mentioned it. There isn't really many stalls opened in the first place. When I was riding the carriage the last time, there was way more stalls opened, even though the it was snowing."

"We were technically lucky today miss. Soon the new year will come and people are preparing for it and the holidays to come. We were lucky that there was even some stalls open right now. There will be probably a festival also held during a new year. Probably all the people are preparing for the days to come." – said the maid.

"Festival?! Oh! Let's come again during the festival! I bet there will be even more stalls selling tasty stuff." – said Iris.

"…. You freaking gluttony." – said Uri.

"Hey!" – responded Iris in anger.

"So anyway…. What do we do now? Do we head home now?" – asked Uri.

"Well, there is really nothing for us to do anyway, besides eating right now. Any ideas?"

"Hm…... Em…... Nothing comes to mind." – said Iris before eating a snack.

"….. Excuse me. But maybe I know something that may interest you both." – said Allie the maid.

"?"

"You both enjoy learning magic, right?"

"Well, yes, I do. What about you Iris?"

"Hm…. I only recently started practicing, but I also find learning magic entertaining, but why do you ask?"

"Well, as it turns out, one of my relatives runs a magic equipment shop. It's very popular among the adventurers. It sells a book related to the magic as well as some other stuff related to the magic. Would you like go a check the place out?" – asked the maid.

Iris and Uri looked at each other, wondering what to do.

"…. Well, it does sound interesting. Lead the way." – said Uri.

Uri and Iris fallowed the maid through the snowy streets until they arrived at their destination.

"We here. This is the shop I told you about." – said the maid while opening the door.

The group entered the shop.

"Welcome. How may I- Allie? What are you doing here?" – said the female shopkeeper.

"Hello aunt Zoe. Let me introduce you. This is the relative I told you about. Her name is Zoe and she is my aunt. Aunt Zoe, this is a young master I'm serving Uri Vvirian and the girl over here is Iris Necrohearth."

"They are interested in learning a magic and wanted to visit your store."

"Oh. I see. Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm Zoe the store owner of this place." – said the middle aged woman with brown hair and pony tail.

"Hello." – said Iris.

"Greetings." – said Uri.

"Anyway, is there anything I can help you with? Are you looking for something related to the magic affinities or something else?"

"Let's start with that cutie over there. What kind of magic you are interested in?" – said the store owner while pointing her finger to the Iris.

"Me? Em…... Well, I have talent for the necromancy and I think I'm quite good at it, but recently I'm thinking of getting some different affinities like fire, water, wind or some other stuff. But I don't know what I should pick. Are there any good affinities or magics that works well with the necromancy?" – said Iris.

"Hm…. Necromancy huh? Now I think about it, I do know the Necrohearth family, they are known for their necromancy magic. Anyway, if you are looking for affinities or other magics that work with the necromancy, then there is a few options."

"Dark magic, poison magic, fire magic, ice magic, curse and summoning."

"Before we procced further, let me ask you something, how old are you right now?"

"I'm 8 years old right now, but why ask?"

"I see. Well then, I recommend learning summoning. Summoning is one of the best magic that works with the necromancy. However, I don't recommend learning it right now."

"Why is that?" – asked Iris.

"The people that practice the summoning magic needs some amount of mana that they can handle. Right now, you are young and your mana reserves aren't used to handle too much mana. Training to expand your mana vessel won't work since your body needs to get used to mana first. So until you grow older, training your mana vessel won't give the best results. When the body matures enough, you then can train and expand and strengthen your mana vessel properly."

"It's better to train your summoning magic when you get older and your mana reserves gets big enough for you to train properly. Even if you manage to learn and be able to do basic summon right now, it will be worthless. Before trying to learn and improve summoning magic, you need to improve on how much mana you can wield and handle. Before you can train properly with the mana, your body needs to mature and be able to handle the mana. Learning summoning magic right now is useless since you literally can't improve it all no matter how you try with your current state." – said the shopkeeper.

"Without enough mana, you can't improve your summoning magic at all, no matter how you try."

(…. Wait…... So, does that mean I spend all this fuking time learning summoning magic for nothing? I thought I could train it even with my small amount of mana right now, but no matter what I do, it won't work right now?)

(….. Fuck me in the ass…...) – though Uri.

"So, for now, forget at all about learning summoning magic until you get older and focus on something else. That is my advice."

"As for the other stuff, it depends on you. Curses can be used to hinder your enemies while undead deal with them. The elements affinity I suggested works the best with the necromancy, so you can pick one or more and learn it."

"I see…. Huh. Thank you."

"Wait a moment..."

The woman got up from her chair behind the counter and walked towards the bookshelf near Iris.

"Here. If you are considering learning different affinities and then deciding with to focus on later on, this book is good choice for you."

[Basic multy affinity element magic.]

"This books contains a basic knowledge of many different elements and some basic beginner spells. It does contain knowledge about fire, ice, poison and the dark magics, but it doesn't contain stuff about curses."

"I see. Then can I buy this book?" – asked Iris.

"Sure. That will be 50 silver."

"Okay."

Iris beginned looking through her wallet.

"…."

"Wait…. Em…. Do you have 8 silver coins?" – said Iris to Uri while looking at her wallet.

"…. How much money did you spend on the food?"

"…...Em..." – Iris looked away from the Uri.

"…. Well, since you are friends with my niece, I can lower the price by 8 silver coins." – said the woman while smiling.

"Oh! Thank you very much!"

"No problem."

"Now your turn. I know that the Vvirian family are known for their earth magic thanks to my niece over there, so I assume you also know how to use earth magic. "

"Do you want some advice regarding the earth magic or something else?"

"Hm…... Well, I do possess affinity towards the earth magic, but I learned summoning magic and I'm trying to learn on how to create golems. I'm also thinking of trying and learn alchemy and the art of smithing when I grow up since I will need it when I would need to create stronger golems, however for now I would like to focus more on magic, summons and golems craft."

"My summoning magic is well, on the very first step and I heard what you just said that its bad idea of trying to learn it right now. So, yea…... Do you have anything that can help me with making golems by any chance? As of right now, even after spending long time I couldn't even make a golem do a single step properly without breaking down or falling over" – said Uri.

"Golems huh? I don't remember if there was even a person that came to me about wishing to know stuff about the golems."

"I got to say, you have an interesting taste kid."

"Hm... Wait, let me check around."

The store owner beginned looking around the store, looking through the different shelfs.

"…...Hm…. There is nothing here. Please wait a second. I'm going to check my storeroom." – said the lady before leaving the room through the door near the counter.

[Sometime later.]

"….."

"Em. Is everything okay? She been gone for quite some time already. Did maybe something happened to her?" – asked Uri.

"Hm…. I'm also getting worried. Please wait a moment, I'm going to- "

Before Allie could finish her sentence, the door that store owner went through opened.

"I'm back." – said the store owner while returning to the room.

"Sorry to inform you kid, but I couldn't find anything at all. I searched through the entire storage room but there was nothing. I even looked through the old stuff that was here before I inherited the store from my parents, but there was nothing about the golems at all."

"Oh, okay. Well at least thank you for trying." – said Uri.

(Well things can't always be easy. I guess I have relay on the books from the library.)

"Well, I may not have any books regarding the golems, but I maybe have some others books that may interested you. Want to take a look?"

"….. Well sure. Do you mind if I look around myself a bit?"

"No problem. Take your time."

Uri beginned walking around the store and checking different items and the books on the shelves.

(Basic fire magic knowledge, the basics of the enchantment magic, curses – how to use and counter... There is a lot of stuff here, but not really anything that interests me.)

(But it probably be better if I at least buy something in here, she did wasted a lot of time because of me.)

(Hm…. There are some books about the earth magic, but there are already copy of these books in our family library. Pretty much there is no reason buying them at all since.)

(Is there really no book about the magic that can be even a bit useful for me?)

"…..."

(Fuck. There is really nothing in here that can work for me. Should I buy some random book and be fine with it?)

"…."

"Well, I don't think you found anything that interested you young man, based on your expression." – said the store owner.

"I…... Well…. I don't be rude considering that you spend lot of time searching around because of me. So I want to at least buy something." – said the boy.

"I was looking through the earth magic related books, but our family already have the copy of theses books you have, so…. Maybe you have a book about summoning or something? I know you said its useless to learn it right now, but I can't kind of think of anything else that can work for me."

"Hm… Well, I have few. Wait a moment."

The store owner walked around the store and took out a 3 books that she later put on the table.

"Those are the only books summoning monsters I have. Do any of these interested you?"

[Basics Of The Summoning Magic]

[Manifestation Summoning Monster Control]

[Summoning Magic – List Of Well Known Manifested And Contracted Creatures]

"!"

"I will take the "Manifestation Summoning Monster Control"." – said the boy immediately after reading the title of the book.

"Sure. That will be 35 silver coins."

The boy quickly reached to his wallet and took out the coins before giving them to the store owner.

"Here you go." – said the store owner while handing over the book to the boy.

"Nice." – said Uri.

(Well now, this is indeed a nice find.)
