Chapter 12 - His Soft Gazes Towards Her

A stunning young woman in front of us brought forth an amazing voice. Her skin was as pale as porcelain, with long, exquisite, shimmering hair that would soon gleam even more when the moon's silver rays fell on her form.

I lost to her because her face and everything about her were perfect for a man in love who could never take his eyes off of her.

I was never who I imagined myself to be five years ago.

After the love of her life—a partner she treasured for five long years—cheated on her for an actress she couldn't be, Jasmine Rose was the name of a young orphan, a lost, broken lady with nowhere to go.

Jasmine was a kind-hearted young woman who would stop at nothing to make her friends—who eventually became her family—happy and smiling, even if it meant making a sacrifice.

Because she couldn't help being alone and standing on her two feet when she thought that darkness would slowly swallow her, she vowed that even if someone deceived her, she would eventually give them another chance. She had been naive and gullible, terrified to be left alone in a terrible world.

Even though the warmth had already been polluted, she needed it.

Such is what the young lady believed, and such was Jasmine Rose's innocent thinking.

But the night of her boyfriend's treachery was when she died.

She has vanished from this harsh world.

Scarlett Vermon was born sometime around the time that Jasmine Rose passed away.

"Lady Scarlett?"

"Yes, it is indeed Lady Sophia." I grinned, "I sincerely appreciate you having Lucas watch over me."

But when Lucas spotted Sophia sulking, he quietly laughed and gave himself a scratch on the back of his head.

When Lucas approached Sophia and struck up a conversation with her, the woman grinned and turned to face me, both of her hands snatching mine as they began bringing me to the party that Raven had thrown on their own.

We arrived at the agreed-upon location quickly, and I saw Raven chatting with one of his pals right away. After unhanding me, Sophia approached Raven. She excused him in front of his companions and pulled him to where I was.

I saw how tender Raven would always be for Sophia as I looked at him. She didn't put much effort into it, even though it's improper for a young woman to chat and cut off a man from his conversation with his companions.

But Raven himself would chastise me or possibly condemn me if I did things. I felt like something broke inside my chest again when I noticed his tender glance at her.

I clutched it as though I would trip before Lucas approached me and inquired.

"How are you doing, Scarlett?" I heard him, smiled, to give me a moment.

"Yes, Lucas, I'm fine," I replied, trying not to let Raven's earlier look at Sophia get to me.

However, Raven was staring at me when I looked at him, and this time, it seemed like I had done something wrong, causing me to raise an eyebrow at him.

Nevertheless, Sophia's arms are all over Raven, and when I glanced at Lucas to see his reaction, he never noticed it and was more engrossed in the view of the water.

"Scarlett, can you tell me why the sun is gold, and the moon is silver?" I sighed when he asked unexpectedly.

I didn't have time to respond to what he said, but I went along since I had a plan.

"Why, I don't know, why?" I said.

His chuckle was followed by a smile that I miss on his face. It caused a tiny heartbeat to jump in me that I had thought I had forgotten in the past. However, despite my best efforts, I have never even considered that because of a particular somebody who provided me with comfort over the years I experienced heartbreak.

Together with his sharp nose and eyes that talked as though the woman in front of him was the entire universe, the corners of his lips curled up, an elegant curl he would always have to the drama series and films he would often play.

In the five years that I was absent from his life, he achieved my prediction that he would rank among the most well-liked A-list actors in Japan.

This time, I clenched my chest tightly because I didn't want to revisit those painful memories.

To feel full again, I want to inflict the same anguish on this man that I did five years ago. When I realized that I would never have a chance with the person I had fallen in love with after those five years of heartbreak, I held onto those words in my goal.

I gave him the sweetest smile I've ever had as I watched him like I was watching a movie. If Lucas was saying that he doesn't remember Jasmine Rose or that something happened to him in the past, then I suppose I would force him to remember by pretending to be the deceased person I was during those years.

Just for this scheme.

I have to resurrect the deceased version of myself.

He stopped and turned to face the moon. "It's because of a tale, I also learned this from someone whom I had a deep conversation with in the past," he said.

He extended his hand to grasp the moon, but all he managed to catch was air. "The moon is silver, and it has the appearance of light from the darkness, while the sun is a brightness that no one could ever be matched for," he said.

"There once was a time when two boys and one girl were childhood pals. One of the boys, who was older than the other two, had an optimistic view of life and a shine that was unmatched. He would always laugh at the ridiculous mistakes his companions would make or would do the same if he committed the same errors. He was regarded as a beacon in the darkness because he always inspired everyone around him to do better things." This time, he directed his gaze towards me.

He leaned in closer and smiled unexpectedly from his lips and eyes. "The other little boy was calm, and always composed, he would always be silent but when the two friends got to know him, he was indeed warm on the inside, just like lost light that was roaming within the darkness," he said.

A smile he used to reserve for Jasmine Rose alone. I was unaware that he might distribute it to anyone other than the deceased individual.

"And the one girl they had as childhood friends was like a flower; it needs two people around it at all times or it will wither."

"How does the story relate to the sun's and moon's creation?"

When I asked, he laughed.

"Imagine if, before the two being born, a man with a completely happy attitude became the sun, and another man with the same serene serenity became the moon."

"The girl turned into the flower then?"

He laughed and remarked, "Well, you would say about that," which made me sigh.

I don't always understand him. But during those years, I have grown to love him even more at that time.

He kept laughing without turning to face me, saying, "Just don't forget about the flower bracelet I gave you, Scarlett. I would want to see how you come to take care of it after one month." Before I could say anything more, the delicious flavor of honey appealed.

Sophia giggled afterward, "Thank goodness, Raven can be stubborn sometimes when it comes to leaving his friends, but this time, I managed to grab him away." I turned to face Raven, who had been staring at me and noticed Lucas grinning as he turned to face Sophia.

Even though I didn't want to talk to anyone that night, I suddenly felt the impulse to leave the situation, which was foreign to my feelings. I had the impression of having caused pain on both ends.

This woman had captivated the man I wanted in the past, and I wanted the man I wanted this present to have always yearned for her before I even entered his life.

So where have I been from the beginning?

Lucas comforted me while I appeared to be in excruciating pain, but I was still able to shrug off their stares. In addition, I excused myself from the three for a bit to retrieve some champagne from a nearby table.

As I smiled and engaged in conversation with someone to make them feel comfortable, I noticed that the three were staring at me. I don't care that Raven must be upset because I wasn't even carrying out my duties at this moment.

I needed a place to quiet my racing heart because otherwise, I would become so overcome by these feelings that I wouldn't know what to do.

I was conversing with someone I hardly knew on a particular subject we both enjoyed, orphanages and orphans. This young man and I had a chance to catch up, and I saw something about him that seemed familiar, though I'm not exactly sure where I saw him.

After a little while, I excused myself and went to a private room where I was the only person present. Sophia was laughing and having a great time.

I wanted to give up tonight; there wasn't any use in fighting something when I couldn't even get my mind to stop racing.

A hand tried to pull me behind just as I was ready to open the door, and I gasped when my back hit the cold wall. His hands wrapped around my head causing both of my eyes to enlarge.

"Scarlett, are you attempting to follow my directions this evening?" When he was able to reveal his tender side to a woman he loved, his voice would always be deep and husky.

I scoffed.

"What, I want to, besides," I said, pausing when I noticed a well-known woman staring at us with big eyes out of my sideview mirror.

Before I knew it, her hands were on her chest, and I was putting both of my hands on Raven's neck, bringing him closer so he could feel my body against his.

"I assume this is what you wanted?" I drew him in closer, not caring about what might happen, and gave him a mouthful of kisses, savoring every last drop of his richest saliva.

He seemed to be trying to push me as hard as he could, but I was able to get closer to him and prevent him from hurting me.

I kissed him, and he had no choice but to respond. A few seconds later, I heard someone gasp and take off.

I pushed him as hard as I could at that point since, without my hands, he would have almost fallen to the ground. Then the roar of an enraged beast reverberated through the corridors.

"What did you just do, Scarlett?!"
