Chapter 13 - Trapped Inside a Cabin

Like a flash of lightning, the young man that held my grip firmly disappeared right in front of me to follow the woman that he had been eyeing for the rest of his life.

I sneered.

"You ask me what I did when it was just part of our deal. Didn't he know he would get the most benefit from this?" I whispered through the air like nothing had ever happened and when a thought came across my mind, I sighed.

I opened my door and went to the balcony to look at the outside view without garnering much attention.

I saw people, I don't know from afar enjoying the night ahead.

Lights flicker everywhere, everything seemed like a paradise, and it felt like everyone needed someone to belong to, a feeling that I managed to let go from the past.

I couldn't belong to someone else, I've forgotten what warmth feels like, and I could even sense that my heart was turning to be cold, like a stone bathed in continuous snow.

I don't know where to begin with and to stop when this is all over.

"It seemed like a nice place to live, with someone's warmth," I whispered but I never thought that the door would open. I turned to look at it and found these familiar golden highlights from the man I loved.

"Lucas?" I asked, and I saw his eyes widened.

"Oh, Scarlett! You're here! I thought Sophia was with you because she said she wanted to talk to you for a while, so I knocked but no one answered and when I opened, you're all alone?" He said and just like before I couldn't help but chuckle.

What a great night it is! I nearly rolled my eyes, but I make way for a plan I never thought.

"Just the right time, Lucas. You know, she came, and we talked for a bit, but she said she had something to go to that's why she left early," I paused trying to look at his expression and he seemed worried.

"Are you all, right?"

"I'm just worried for her, that's all Scarlett," he said with the most gullible tone I had ever heard and that's when I knew he never had those tone to me before.

This is something new I discovered about him.

But I guess a little play would do.

"Don't be, she's safe and will always be, you know Raven, he's overprotective when it comes to his childhood friend," I saw his hands turning to tight fists, but I managed to chuckle as I walked towards him, uncovering the cardigan I have.

"Why don't we head to the Sayato Place now? Didn't I mentioned earlier that I wanted to talk to you in private?"

"But you know that place is for----"

"Couples? Don't be, I just wanted to show you something…" I sensed the shiver from his hands, and how cold it felt but I reassured him with a smile.

"Besides, Sophia and Raven would never found out what it was because I wanted to surprise them"

"Surprise? What do you mean Scarlett?"

"I wanted to hold a near birthday special event to my beloved fiancé, and I needed your help, so do you want to help me?" I saw his eyes widened but he finally heaved a long sigh.

That's when I knew that he felt relieved as is he would do something ungrateful for his fiancé, is that it? But why did he do that to me in the past?

I guess people are just bound to change.

I gripped his hand tightly and roam around the hallways, us running wasn't uncommon because it's night A night of pleasure and paradise.

As we head toward the exit, I bend to lean in forward to him.

"I have a shortcut would you want to try?" I heard him chuckle.

I knew from the moment that he was a kind of adventurous, just like in the past. He had always been like that, a person who wanted to fill the curiosity in his mind and I just made him curious with my words when eventually, they were just empty.

"As long as you're fine with-it Scarlett," I heard his voice as soft as ever and before I knew it, out faces are already close to one another.

I stepped a few steps away but I managed to stepped on a stone and that's when I realized I would fall to the ground if it weren't for Lucas catching me.

I opened my eyes wide as possible as I can, when I felt his warm hands went to my waist and our bodies are inches apart. Our noses are touching each other, and I could feel his warm minty breath cascading through the edges of my lips.

It felt like magnetic, like it's binding before we managed to get away from each other as we heard people's footsteps.

I saw Lucas' ears turning red, while he looked on the ground scratching the back of his neck.

"I-I, S-Scarlett, I-I" I chuckled.

"You don't have to, as you know I would fall if you didn't catch me so I'm very much thankful instead," I giggled at the thought and I saw him sighed once more.

I didn't wait for his response so I immediately went to claim his hand and went to the place I knew well.

AS we came out of the Misao Hotel, I could see that the back door of the establishment is a forest full of trees and grasses. We weren't supposed to come in here, but I knew the place very well, I came to plan this before hand and I was going to show this to Lucas when it's day.

I never thought we would arrive here at night just because of my unruly decisions and the way I think of Raven earlier.

I sighed.

I felt Lucas's grip, tightening right over my hand and he immediately led me to a way.

I looked at his back and it's firm. I saw his eyes full of seriousness, a kind of eyes that I never thought to see, a different side of him appeared once more.

"If you want me to look at the place you wanted to show to me, Scarlett, then you also have to abide by rules tonight because it's dangerous so we better head back," he said like a person concerned, he authority over me and I didn't know my heart skipped a beat once more.

This is so frustrating, it's making be go back to being like Jasmine, that naïve and innocent young woman.

I pulled my hands away from him with a smile.

"But I badly wanted us to see this for tonight, Lucas, pretty please? For my fiancé?" I said and I heard him sigh.

"Fine, but you have to consider where I wanted us to go, okay?" Like a friend he said but I wanted to break that wall from him.

I wanted to bring back the love he had for Jasmine, and I would be able to do what he did to me that five years. I wanted to see his crying face, his begging, and his love that he thought had fallen out on me.

I wanted to see all those traits and expression.

I nodded and smiled as he continued to sigh once more.

It didn't take long for us to be in the forest as I followed him, while I said some words for our direction. A little while we found a cabin, because we would take a few long hours to be in the place, so we took a few rest.

Lucas warmed up, as he gathered some wood and lit them up down the fireplace. I took a blanket from the cabinet and wore it. We stayed like that resting and just as we thought we could get out immediately, it rained.

Just great, what a night's calm weather it is.

"I didn't think that there would be rain tonight…" Lucas said calmly looking at the sky opening his palm to feel a few water drops within.

I also said the same thing while I looked above gripping the blanket tightly to my shoulder. A few more hours would be needed to calm this weather and when I looked at Lucas he smiled sadly.

"I guess we would be stuck in here for a while," he said coming in and I followed ahead.

"I-I'm sorry," I said bowing to look at the ground but I heard him chuckle instead.

"There's no need to worry, Scarlett, I also want this, right? Besides, it's a surprise that you wanted for Raven, how could I ever want to say no?" Now I felt a sudden feeling of guilt, an emotion that I never wanted to have in the first place when I wanted to start this plan, a game that I would take a risk.

This isn't even part of the risk.

We stayed in the cabin facing the fireplace, he had no blanket but I felt like he needed it so I sighed. I stood and handed him my blanket to which he refused and because I couldn't afford to let him feel sick, I threw the blanket to him while holding the edges of it.

"There's so we wouldn't be out of warm," I said and he sighed as he give away a space to our bodies when we shared the blanket.

We just looked at the fire, no one spoke of a word, until I decided to break the silence.

"I know I shouldn't talk about this but how did you fall in love with Sophia?"
