Chapter 21 - Horrors behind her nightmares

After Ze'ev left, all Presley was left with was a gloomy Euan, she didn't even try to talk him out of it, she of all people knew how sassy the little half was and she might just end up throwing him into the Atlantic Ocean if he goes all saucy on her again. After a while of staring at him playing with his toys like a lonely child who desperately needed a friend to chat with, she felt sad and stood up and placed herself on the floor beside him, he ignored her presence and kept playing.

"Em…I know a fun game" he stared at her feigned smile and rolled his eyes.

"You don't need to try to make me feel better…I am okay, it happens all the time"his voice was as soft as velvet. She could see emotions swirling through his hazel eyes and she couldn't help but sympathise with him. Why was he speaking like he was older than his age. He seemed so little yet very smart.

"And if the game you're going to play with me is hide and seek or any type of board games then I will pass…respectfully"he added, making her more curious about his age. What kind of boring child is this.

"Aren't you supposed to be at school?" She raised an inquisitive brow and he heaved a loud sigh. If that happened again she swore she was going to leave, this three year old look alike made her question if she earned any ounce of respect.

"When I was two years old my mom took me to kindergarten because I read books a lot but they said I was too 'different' …unlike those other slubs I played chess, worked on a lot of mathematics problems, got straight As without anybody teachings" was he trying to show off or what? Presley thought. She almost shook her head. at least now she sees how he's related to Ze'ev.

"Basically, I'm too good for school" he bragged and she nodded sarcastically

"My mom kept whining on how she gave birth to a genius but in time she got frustrated because I didn't act like a normal three or two year old. I was always quiet and no one knew what I was thinking. I never asked or whined for things I wanted. I never cried or complained for anything but that didn't seem like a blessing to her, I was like a ticking time bomb that would explode any minute…so as a mother, a great mother, the best mother in the world, she left me at uncle Aslan's place. But uncle doesn't really like children, I was happy at first because he didn't plead for my attention like others but time came when I started to crave for attention. When I saw other kids and their parents I would feel extremely jealous. I couldn't take it anymore so I started pretending to be a normal child. I cried if I didn't get what I wanted, I complained, I laughed, I studied in secret…then uncle zev came. He took me away and brought me here. I didn't have to pretend because he gave me attention when I needed it and left me alone when I wanted to be alone. He treats me like a child and sometimes treats me like we are the same when it came to age. But he started getting busy suddenly when he broke off an engagement with His fiancée…he started coming home once in a week and didn't have time for me anymore-" he was suddenly cut off

"Fiancée?" She didn't ask for any of the story he was giving her right now but hearing him say Ze'ev had a fiancée and breaking off an engagement… she got really curious for some stupid reason. Don't get her wrong she was not jealous, she was just…curious. She raised an inquisitive brow at him and he groaned loudly not wanting to explain because the topic was really boring, he'd rather talk about himself than his uncle past lover.

"Aunt Adilyn…" he replied and she gave the same questioning look making him sigh. Did she really want to hear about that, he really didn't want to talk about her.

"All I know is that uncle was very happy with her then suddenly I didn't see her come anymore, and I noticed his ring wasn't in his finger anymore…I figured they broke up then you came along the next week. He replaced her really fast. But now he doesn't seem happy at all even if he fakes it" Presley brain malfunctioned when he said he replaced her, so she was being figure of replacement. Was he really using her? Nooo the reason for their marriage was beyond that. Or was it because of their marriage he broke his engagement off? She had thought maybe she…Myra was betrothed to him but layla and belle changed her thoughts when they said she was getting married to a vampire because of the so called deal they made with humans a long time ago. She still wondered what the deal was.

"You're missing my point here" Euan nagged

"I think I lost your point a while ago" Presley replied with his tone.

"You don't like my sad story?" He folded his arms and she did the same, imitating him playfully.

"Everyone has a sob story little half, some…are far worse than yours" lectured Presley. Euan big hazel eyes glared at her, did she just call him 'little half'. His uncle was such a loudmouth. Why did he tell her.

"What's worse than having your mom abandon you?"his tone became softer and she opened her lips to say something but closed it back, speechless. After a while of silence between them she spoke, her voice sounded like a whisper.

"I know right?" She smiled wanly. She wondered when the conversation got to this. She was also abandoned by her mother.

"I…sometimes think she left me because I was half human"

"No, she wouldn't have married an human if she wouldn't like the outcome" Presley spoke as a matter of fact. A maid came in and interrupted their conversation making Presley's head snap towards her.

"You have to go to bed now Euan" Lia spoke ignoring Presley's presence which she thought was disrespectful.

"I don't want to" he whined and Presley noticed lia roll her eyes like she was saying 'here-we-go-again' in her head.

"It was an order from your uncle for you to go to bed early"he groaned and grumbled on the floor.

"I don't care… he's not here"

"You still have to follow your uncle rules even if he isn't present you know?, shows how much you love and appreciate him"

Euan stood up when he heard Presley's words

"It does?" He asked

"Hmm-mmm"she nodded.

"Listening and obeying him shows how much you respect him"

"Your words…make me cringe, I am going to bed now. Goodnight" Presley scoffed in disbelief when she heard what he said but didn't bother to think much about it.

That little half!

She figured he went to sleep because of what she told him. He was kinda sweet but she had to agree he talked too much, he didn't even look like it.

She asked one of the workers to take her to her room because she wasn't quite familiar with the mansion yet. She showered and wore one of his shirts again.

She thought of things to do because she knew those images would start to erupt in her mind if she didn't quench this boredom. Her Guardian angel just added to her traumas. She couldn't even shut her eyes for a second.

Now that she thought about it she didn't have a nightmare last night because of Ze'ev, but now that he had gone to wherever she was terrified of sleeping. She knew the horrors behind her nightmares and she couldn't shut her eyes for a second, she just couldn't.

She dared not shut her eyes. A while ago a maid came in and gave her an inhaler saying it was Ze'ev instruction.

She sat on her bed hugging her knees very tightly and clenching a handful of her hair. She just wanted to die. Was that to hard to ask for?

But now when she looked back at everything, Esmira kinda did her a favour, a big one. She would have ended up there.

Oh Lord

She couldn't even imagine.

Hell was a nightmare indeed.
